What is BrutReview?
Welcome to BRUTREVIEW! We aggregate product recommendations from Reddit to help you make informed purchasing decisions based on real user experiences.
How it works
We search Reddit
Using the Google Search API, we surface the most relevant Reddit threads for a given product — across all subreddits, not just obvious ones. r/BuyItForLife, niche hobby communities, r/frugalmalefashion, and anywhere else people discuss it.
We collect real comments
For each thread we gather the top-voted comments — up to 30 per thread with reply depth. Low-engagement threads are excluded. Only discussions with real signal make it through.
AI reads all of it
Google Gemini processes the full comment set and extracts recurring pros, cons, notable quotes, and a sentiment score from 1–10. The AI doesn't write opinion — it classifies what users already said.
Zero paid influence
No brand can pay to appear on BrutReview, improve their score, or suppress negative feedback. Products are added based on Reddit presence and search demand only. The score is what it is.
Why Reddit?
Amazon reviews are gamed. Influencer content is sponsored. Retailer "verified purchase" reviews are often incentivized. Reddit is different — users have no financial motive to praise or trash a product, and the community polices bad-faith posts aggressively.
When someone on r/BuyItForLife says they've used a bag every day for five years, that's not a 5-star review submitted for a discount code. It's a real person choosing to share a real opinion. That's the signal BrutReview is built on.
