Summary

The E-TWOW Booster Plus S+ has a loyal following among commuters who prioritize portability and top speed in a sub-25lb package. Reddit owners consistently praise its lightweight, foldable design and real-world speeds reaching 22-25 mph once the P3/L5 settings are unlocked. Sentiment is generally positive for everyday urban use, though the scooter attracts debate around solid tires, limited parts availability, and a learning curve with its hidden settings menu. It occupies a niche between budget Chinese-brand scooters and premium performance models, appealing most to riders who need something genuinely portable without sacrificing too much speed.

Pros

  • Genuinely lightweight at around 25 lbs with folding handlebars, making it easy to carry into stores, on public transit, or up stairs
  • Unlockable speed via P3 and L5 settings — riders report real-world top speeds of 22-26 mph on flat ground, with heavier riders (~210 lbs) still hitting 25 mph
  • Front and rear suspension makes for a noticeably smoother ride compared to similarly priced solid-tire competitors
  • Short charge times and a 20+ mile real-world range when ridden at moderate speeds under 25 mph
  • Build quality perceived as above average compared to generic Chinese-brand scooters, with E-TWOW's multi-year track record cited as reassurance
  • Solid tires eliminate puncture risk entirely, which owners in urban environments see as a major practical advantage

Cons

  • Speed and range drop significantly below 80% battery — one owner reported acceleration degrading noticeably and max speed falling well below claimed specs at partial charge
  • Solid tires, while puncture-proof, become dangerous in wet conditions and on rough pavement, a recurring safety concern raised across multiple threads
  • Attempting to remove the speed limiter via unofficial YouTube methods risks bricking the display — one user paid $80 for a replacement after following bad advice
  • Replacement parts, especially the color LCD display, are expensive and hard to source, leaving damaged scooters sitting unused for months
  • The rear wheel cover functions as an emergency brake with no clear warning — at least one rider suffered broken ribs after accidentally engaging it at speed
  • Loses ground to the Xiaomi M365 Pro on braking quality, firmware customization options, and parts ecosystem availability, despite costing more

The Hidden Settings That Change Everything

Most owners ride the Booster Plus S+ at 18 mph without realizing P3 mode and L5 unlock exist. Riders who find the settings menu report speeds jumping to 22-26 mph — but the same menu has bricked displays when accessed through unofficial YouTube tutorials.

Lightest Fast Scooter or Overpriced Niche Product?

At $700-900, the Booster Plus S+ sits in an awkward spot: faster and lighter than the M365 Pro, but lacking its parts ecosystem and firmware flexibility. Owners who need to fold and carry daily swear by it; those who ride and store say the price gap is hard to justify.

The Rear Wheel Cover Trap Nobody Warns You About

Multiple Reddit posts reveal a non-obvious design quirk: the rear fender acts as an emergency brake. Stepping on it at speed causes sudden stops and falls. E-TWOW documents this in the manual, but owners say the warning is buried deep enough that injuries keep happening.

On July 1, 2022, I got the E-TWOW GTS 2022 from uscooters.com. Within first 3 miles, in flat terrain, 190 lbs rider, the scooter threw EE error (EE: communication error according to the manual) and suddenly stopped working.

This review perfectly covers all the things I've dealt with, E-TWOW needs to improve on all of these. You're not spoiled, you're right, all of these are extremely accurate. I think the sole reason I liked this scooter was just because it was so light and quick that I could coast around, but it does get to a point where it's dangerous (if you take into account the solid wheels, braking, fwd, and the locking brake mechanism that leaves you sliding all over the place).

I have the Booster GT with the e brake only which I chose over the drum brake because I didn't want any additional things to maintain. The e brake for me works fantastic no matter what speed I'm going and it's quite smooth for me.

It seems like the e-brake issue has been resolved. I ordered mine about a week ago, and Scott contacted me almost immediately to see if I was aware of the issue and if I wanted to wait a few days for the new control units that he was expecting. I opted to wait. I just received the GT Sport a few days ago and the e-brake on mine now works great at any speed. Scott was super responsive to me at least.

E-Twow scooters have been around for several years now (at least 7). If breakage of the folding mechanism due to poor metallurgy was a regular problem, it would likely be widely known by now. If anything, E-Twow's have been known for having better build quality than most scooters.

Bought this scooter after a lot of research. I wanted a fast scooter that was also easy to carry and had decent distance. The uscooter sport is 25 pounds and folds up quite nicely (including the handlebars) and has a carrying handle. It's been very easy taking it into the grocery store, bank, or car.

If you're averaging a higher top speed and accelerating much quicker, then that's where your energy is spent. Try riding the Booster V at the same pace/speed as your old Plus S. You might end up with similar if not better range.

From the description it seems like a controller problem. You could always check if the cables are all correctly plugged in - not a lot to lose - but realistically I don't see an easy way out of this.

Very thorough feedback. Too bad Scott will probably tell you you are the only one having these issues... Clearly the GT Sport needed further development before being put on sale. It's odd there are so many problems when E-TWOW had over a year to simply change the controller software a bit to enable the higher speed compared to the GT SE.

Is this before or after the controller issue was fixed?

There are two videos online on how to remove the speed limit: cut of the photo-resistor (light sensor) and solder a wire bridge to 'S2 pins' on the backside of the display. I haven't tried doing this, since both approaches seem fishy to me -- especially the second one, as the same pins in the german (limited) version are used to power the external light, so basically GND and 12V (if so, bridging them would most probably destroy the display).

Glad to hear you're safe and recovered. It's a humble lesson I've learned too — you are still vulnerable and need to ride defensively even at 10-15 mph speeds.

I have the Booster S+, and I consistently go 25mph on flat ground (going downhill has gotten to 30mph before I got too scared and had to brake). For context, I weigh ~210lbs. It gets up to 20mph pretty quickly, then takes a bit more distance to inch up to 25mph, so if you have to brake often you probably won't see that speed.

I have etwow booster V and the maximum speed on a plain horizontal surface it achieves is 36 km/h that is roughly 22 mph. I weight 74 kg.

I own a booster V and it can go up to 38km/h on a flat surface. To achieve that speed, you have to uncap the speed limit and set the P3 (sport mode) on. It is quite a durable escooter, my current total mileage is 2700km+.

My GTS was not rideable got it and returned it the next day. Had all the issues you had and more… very disappointing. Booster V is a 10/10 scooter.

Given some of these problems, I'd be concerned about this actually being a faulty unit. Because otherwise... eeeep.

I took my GT Sport for its first ride and while I don't have anything to compare to, the ebrake is definitely not as good as I had hoped, sometimes it doesn't engage and it definitely jolts like you said.

What do you prefer more, the 2020 or 2022? Is there a noticeable difference in speed? I have an opportunity to buy a used 2020 so very curious on your thoughts.

The rear spring was a bit gummed up with dirt so the spring wasn't fully releasing. I cleaned it out and oiled it and it started latching easily again.

I just got the same scooter. You can turn off the speed limiter in the P3 settings to make it go faster than 18mph. The manual says that the L5 limit is 30kph which is around 18mph. But then manual also states that you can turn on the 'real speed' by turning on the P3 setting. I was able to get the display to read 22.6mph on a flat surface. I'm 5'8" and weight 183lbs.

At full charge, no load, the motor spins up to 26 mph. With a 165lbs rider, it reaches 18 mph on flat ground, but acceleration is surprisingly slow compared to the positive feedback and reviews I've seen for E-Twow/Uscooters. Max speed and acceleration further degrades by 80% battery level. Hoping there is a fix.

Both are good choices. I think it's whether you plan on folding them a lot (like in public transport), the E-Twow is way smaller than the M365 Pro when folded. Brakes are better on the Pro though.

E2 Booster S pros: small, very portable, foldable handle bars, very nice LCD screen, amazing suspension, lots of colour choices, very short charge time, decent top speed, solid tyres so no punctures, grippy deck, very light. Cons: solid tyres so dangerous in the wet, small tyres so dangerous on rough roads.

Yes, i solved the problem, i bought a new display. DO NOT TRY THE METHOD IN THE YOUTUBE VIDEO, this will ruin your scooter, because of these videos my display stopped working and i needed to change it for 80 dollars so if you don't want to spend money for nothing don't do this.

Yeah I'm thinking I put the 25mph cap back on. For the battery. Anyway risk increases exponentially above and beyond 30mph. Probably better off that way to begin with.

He should not do anything but a visual inspection. They fucked the repair or sent another faulty scooter as replacement.

I have had the booster for over 2 years. On flat ground it goes 18-19 mph consistently. Maybe the V is tuned to output more power as both have a 500 watt motor.

I've had the Booster for about 18 months. I've ridden many brands of scooter - even owned the ES2 - but nothing compares to this. It's by far my favorite, I could not recommend these scooters enough. I'm 180lbs and consistently go 18mph on my Booster.

The e-brake has gotten much worse as many people have already described and I wonder if there are any solutions to fixing it. The GTS is a much worse product just because of the e-brake. What an absolute bummer.

I finally healed up enough to test out the scooter and found the regen brake won't even engage until half way through the controller. If that is a defect I need to get in contact with Uscooters.

E-twow designs are based on regular foot powered scooters. They are made out of flimsy metal, my first scooter broke due to ripped metal near the folding mech. My second one had a similar problem, but on the folding mech itself.
