Summary

The Hiboy Titan has a consistently negative reputation on Reddit, with the community broadly treating it as a low-quality budget scooter that underdelivers even at its price point. Users frequently cite poor build quality, inflated battery specs, and a customer support team that responds to every problem by shipping replacement parts and leaving the labor to the owner. It appeals primarily to buyers who stumbled onto a sale or who are new to the electric scooter scene, but experienced riders almost universally recommend switching to a reputable brand instead. The scooter can be functional for light, short-distance commuting as long as nothing breaks — which, according to many owners, is not a safe assumption.

Pros

  • Accessible entry price makes it one of the cheaper options for riders wanting a larger-wheeled scooter with a higher weight capacity around 300 lbs
  • Casual riders doing short, flat city runs report it working fine for daily use with minimal issues
  • Some users who received replacement units through warranty claims ended up satisfied, noting the replacement process was handled without requiring the defective unit back
  • The Titan Pro variant offers three speed modes, decent off-road capability on easy trails, and a claimed top speed of 50 mph that some users found appealing for the price
  • Riders in the lower weight range on flat terrain found the ride smooth and the battery life acceptable for short commutes

Cons

  • Battery capacity is widely suspected to be misrepresented — users report real-world range significantly below advertised figures, with concerns about aging cells posing a fire risk
  • Tires puncture easily and replacing them requires nearly full disassembly of the scooter due to the design, making a routine repair a major undertaking
  • Build quality and QC issues are common: reported problems include bad wheel bearings within months of purchase, disc brakes wearing out after around 100 miles, and battery cells going out of balance and causing sudden shutdowns
  • Customer support only ships replacement parts and does not cover labor costs, leaving disabled or non-technical owners stranded with unfixable hardware
  • The folding stem does not lock in the down position, making the scooter awkward to carry — users have to improvise with bungee cords or velcro straps
  • At the $1,000–$1,400 price range, Reddit consistently points to better-built alternatives like the Apollo Ghost, Varla Eagle One, Vsett 9+, or Kaabo Mantis as superior options dollar for dollar

You're the Maintenance Department

Hiboy's warranty means parts arrive at your door — not a technician. Multiple owners report being handed replacement components for issues like bad wheel bearings, blown inner tubes, and brake adjustments, with zero labor support. If you're not comfortable with a full disassembly, that's a problem.

The Reddit Consensus Is Unusually Blunt

Unlike most budget scooter debates that have defenders, the Hiboy Titan gets almost no support from experienced riders on r/ElectricScooters. The top-voted advice in nearly every related thread is the same: pick any other brand in this price range.

The One Use Case It Actually Works For

Light riders doing short, predictable city routes on smooth pavement report the Titan holding up fine — especially if they bought it on sale. The scooter is not hopeless; it just has a very narrow window where it meets expectations without becoming a DIY project.

If budget isn't an issue stay clear of Hiboy and get something with better quality - Hiboy is generally known for their bad quality control and scooters breaking down all the time.

No Hiboy is best at anything. If you want to upgrade, start by switching brands.

It's a rebadged generic Chinese scooter. They can give you pretty good bang for your buck, but only as long as you're aware that the quality control and maintenance departments are both you. Only buy them if you're not scared of a toolbox. If you don't know which side of a screwdriver to hold and don't care to learn, then get a Ninebot or a Niu instead.

As someone that had the Titan pro and sold it because it wasn't fast enough and the suspension was way too stiff (non adjustable) I would say look at maybe the blade GT, Varla Eagle One, Vsett 10. They all fall under the $2000 price range with average speeds of 40mph plus. And have good riding suspension. I mean don't get me wrong the Titan Pro was fun, but only for a while until it wasn't. And the disc brakes didn't last more than 100 miles for me.

The battery is the main culprit. It will show 100 percent after charging. I will run but with extra load on the motor, it will discharge and suddenly turn off. Probably an imbalance with the battery cells. I am sure you need a new battery.

No way I would pay anywhere near $1400 for that. Just get an Apollo Ghost for $1500 or something else, plenty of posts about good scooters on here.

I don't have the basis for comparison against other comparable models in the 1400-1500 range. I researched before I bought mine and feature-wise, the hiboy was comparable on paper and I had gotten good service from them on the hiboy I already owned so I pulled the trigger. So far, I love the titan pro. Next step is seeing how it holds up to regular use. But light years better than my previous one in the 500 dollar range.

I really like the titan pro. Instructions are limited but easy enough to figure out. 3 speed. 50mph. Go easy on the throttle so as not to grind gears. Longer battery life than stated. Waterproof to a point. Rain riding not recommended in my opinion. Easy ride off road.

My first upgrade was to this, anything you buy after this will be better.

I have had mine for years now and no issues with over heating or fire. Now the battery capacity I can agree with. TBH I got mine for basically free. The wheel was crooked when I got it and filed a claim and they sent me another without me sending the old one back. Only to find out that all I had to do is adjust the handle bar.

May have just saved me. I was about to pull the trigger on a titan pro but I think I'm gonna go with the inokim quick 4. I don't understand battery usage / power / distance quite yet but from what I've seen the hi boys are not accurate.

I've had this scooter for almost a year. I ride it less than a mile several times a week. Since getting it, the front wheel bearing has gone bad, the brakes need adjusting, the seat needed a ton of custom work just to function and now the back tire is flat. Hiboy's response to all these problems is replacement parts, but they should be paying for the labor. I didn't know I was buying a DIY project.

I would not recommend a Hiboy Titan. I used to own one and the tires are terrible. They became punctures so easily from daily use. Hiboy would only send a replacement tire. To change the tire, you would have to disassemble the entire scooter by the way it's designed. I was not able to get that done.

Titan is $1k? In that price range, I'd go for Segway Max G3 instead, which you can get open box on eBay for $800.

They didn't even know what scooter it was until I showed them a picture and then they sent instructions that didn't work with my model. They never really answer my questions. They just answer my questions with a question.

I just got the Hiboy Titan and realized as I put it together that the stem does not lock in the down position when folded. That makes it impossible to carry by the stem. Everything else about the scooter is great, but this is infuriating.

My first scooter was a hiboy s2 and it is not good in any conditions other than dry pavement. It's a great starter scooter run around the city scooter but I have upgraded to the Ausom DT2 pro and it blows the hiboy out of the water. Can't ever go back.

Issue is they lie about battery capacity to get sales hence how they sell such cheap large batteries. They are about half the size and then Amazon fire special moment. These cheap scooters in next few years catching fire as the batteries age.
