Summary

The Hiley Tiger 8 Pro is a budget-friendly dual-motor electric scooter that generates genuinely split opinions on Reddit. Enthusiasts praise its punchy performance and off-road capability for the price, while critics point to reliability failures and a frustratingly short 6-month warranty as dealbreakers. It appeals most to recreational riders who want dual-motor thrills without spending big, but those who rely on their scooter daily may find the long-term durability story concerning. Customer service is a consistent pain point, with users reporting slow, unhelpful responses when things go wrong. Overall, the Tiger 8 Pro is a high-risk, high-reward buy — fun and capable when it works, but the support system behind it leaves a lot to be desired.

Pros

  • Dual 600W motors deliver surprisingly strong hill-climbing ability and acceleration that rivals pricier scooters in the segment
  • Solid tires eliminate flat tire risk and riders report smooth-enough performance on paved trails and moderate off-road terrain
  • Highly customizable — users have added LED lighting rigs, swapped handlebars, and tweaked P-settings to adjust ride behavior
  • At its price point, the dual-motor configuration offers more hardware than most competitors, making it a strong value proposition on paper
  • Real-world range of around 25–30 miles at moderate speeds (averaging ~20 mph) matches or exceeds what similarly priced single-motor scooters deliver
  • Updated V3 model improved display, thumb throttle, and lighting — the new version addressed several complaints from early adopters

Cons

  • Reliability is a serious concern — multiple users report failures before 221 miles, including full battery death and motor controller issues
  • Only a 6-month warranty on a scooter that can cost over $1,000 is widely criticized as unacceptable for the price tier
  • Customer service is slow and unhelpful in practice, often sending users in circles with broken-English emails instead of resolving issues
  • Competitors like the Mukuta 8+ offer comparable specs with a removable battery at a lower price, making the Tiger 8 Pro harder to justify on value alone
  • P-settings and unlock codes are poorly documented — users had to crowdsource the correct code (1111) because the included manual was for an older model
  • Handlebar looseness has been reported even on brand-new units, with some having stripped screw threads straight from the box

221 Miles and Done: The Reliability Problem Reddit Won't Let Slide

More than one Tiger 8 Pro owner has shared the same gut-punch story: scooter works great, then dies completely before hitting 250 miles. Battery voltage dropping to 20V mid-ride, controllers going silent, and a 6-month warranty window that's already closed. It's the thread that keeps recurring in r/ElectricScooters.

Is Dual Motor at This Price Too Good to Be True?

The Tiger 8 Pro's spec sheet looks impressive for the money — dual motors, solid tires, decent range — but Reddit's verdict is nuanced. When it runs well, it genuinely competes with scooters costing $300–$400 more. When it doesn't, there's almost no support structure to fall back on.

The Customization Crowd Actually Loves This Thing

A subset of Tiger 8 Pro owners treat the scooter as a starting platform rather than a finished product — adding LED strips, swapping handlebars, and diving into P-settings to unlock performance. For tinkerers willing to accept the reliability trade-off, it's become a cult favorite for its hackability.

Well so much for Teverun being a quality brand — the Blade mini ultra just arrived with TWO rubbing brake rotors, front badly bent beyond fixable, a peeling deck rubber cover, and WTF is that POS plasticky charger cover placed on the right bottom side of the deck — that's 100% gonna break and short my charging port in some puddle! Also side panel for the deck has uncovered screw holes in the front. IPX5? Maybe IP00!!

Been shopping around over the last couple weeks and found the best bang for my buck, but the cherry on top is the excellent customer service. Before stumbling upon the Hiley T8 Pro I initially was looking for a decent single motor scooter. After seeing a bunch of videos on YouTube, I quickly realized I wanted a little more power to handle the hills around my neighborhood.

Turns out the code was actually 1111. After that it let me in after hitting the headlight button on the last digit.

Regarding range or distance, I do not think it will be a problem for me to hit 25 or even 30 miles on eco and single motor mode. When I zip around the hills of my local state park on turbo and dual mode for 10 miles I'm about less than half. The charging takes a long time though — when I start charging at about 50% battery it takes 7+/- hours to charge.

These guys answer like that but they don't really know. They just respond automatically because it's what they think or what they believe, without actually knowing.

I think Varla is now importing Hileys cuz their websites look almost identical. Not bad prices tho for what the Hileys are.

I used the $50 code there on the product page and that was it. I considered waiting for Black Friday but decided I would rather get a few rides in before the winter and that didn't seem likely if I wasn't going to receive it until December. I elected to go with impatience instead of fiscal responsibility.

Having stated that you don't have much electrical/battery experience it would be foolish to mess around with faulty lithium ion batteries. Most I'd do in your position is check if any wires are damaged. Judging from the battery's voltage drop to 20V there could be a few things — bad cells in the pack, possible poor spot welding loosening over time, terminal corrosion, undergauged wires, faulty BMS. Would highly recommend having a specialist check your pack.

I have solid tires so I doubt I'll have to replace them any time soon. The battery has been incredible! Now, I don't ride at full throttle the whole time so that helps a lot. At an average of 20 mph I'm getting around 30 miles on one charge. Skidding is a little bit of an issue, but I try to avoid going over a bunch of leaves, loose gravel, or anything that the tires will slip on. Overall, the ride is fairly smooth, though.

I got the Tiger King RS with 31.5ah. It's great for the price, $1850.

If she's showing 20 volts that's bad — that means there's something going on with the BMS or there's some cooked cells in there somewhere. It happens sometimes. Bought a new Apollo Phantom and within 82 km my battery was cooked — dead cells all over the pack.

I received my Aviator 2.0 yesterday and have already put 50 miles on it. Shit is fun as heck. I paid about $1,100 for it from American Iron Cycles. I weigh just less than 215 lbs and the suspension handles my weight great.

People generally tend to be more afraid of (or less comfortable with) what they don't know; so between a scooter company that has been established in the US for a long time and a newer company that doesn't necessarily have a bad reputation, just a nearly non-existent one (in the US at least), people will go with what is more popular, even if the scooters they produce are objectively less reliable/solidly built.

I believe you get what you pay for in this instance. Absolutely NOT worth it. Quality is TRASH! My T8 crapped out at just under 1 year of owning it, and has only been ridden 221 miles. Both single and dual modes are not giving power to the scooter. And seriously...who offers a 6-month warranty?! Trash that's who. Their customer service sucks worse than the reliability of this scooter. It was great for 221 miles! Powerful. But come on....

After pushing customer service for weeks and weeks, I finally got a brand new replacement. Couldn't even send old one back because they didn't have a place to send it to. I sold both brand new one and old one on fb marketplace. Couldn't wait to get rid of it and I got an e-bike instead.

I'm right there with you! I bought my Hiley T8 in early June of 2024. Almost the same exact experience. I've contacted the manufacturer and certainly Chinese, every couple days they send some BS email after I reply, which are so very unhelpful. No suggestions really on what to try to troubleshoot. I will say this scooter was pretty awesome before it crapped out at 221 total miles! That's right...221 miles. TRASH.

Received my Tiger 8 pro in July 2025. My left handle bar had play in it when locked in place right out of the box and was shown the same video by CS but my screw and hole threads were stripped out. Had to wedge a thin piece of plastic to keep rigid. Also noting play in the stem.

I got the fix. Hiley Rider sent me a video. When I got everything loose to fold the handle down there was just one screw and it was loose. I tightened it. But it's an adjuster screw. So I had to loosen it to the right spot so when I snapped the handlebar back up it's tight as ever & good to go.

Honestly, I've only had experience with their lower end model that I think was around $1200 and that one was not a great experience with the motor controller. Realistically, I think things are a lot closer compared to something like Teverun. I do like that they focused on having the Samsung battery as well as having tubeless tires as well as split rims for easy maintenance.

I own the Supra and have ridden the RS, the 72v does have noticeably more torque but imo it's almost too much — 60v is the sweet spot, still crazy fast and lots of torque. Go for the Samsung battery version and you'll be set with either one.

Tiger king rs only has 5600w, only got me to 40-48 mph when riding. 20 miles after riding fast slowed to 30-40 and couldn't keep up with traffic. Was $2600 and can't keep up — scammers be aware.

I recently got the Hiley Tiger Supra and so far it has been amazing. To put things in perspective, I own an Ausom L2Max and Segway G3Max. The acceleration on the Supra is amazing, almost scary riding in mode 5. The suspension is a little too soft but beyond that everything has been amazing. I only had it for a couple of weeks, will report back if I run into any issues.

Amazon for only under 20 bucks — of course I bought two, each package contains four LED lights now and a remote control. Yes, I said remote control — it comes with a Bluetooth controller so you can select different flashing modes or try different colour lights. It is completely rechargeable so you don't have to worry about buying batteries.

Yeah I think some of the cells/banks are toast. I'd double check yourself, in case the scooter is providing a faulty reading. If you test it and it still reads 20 volts, you're gonna have to replace the battery I'm afraid.

Regarding suspension and the solid tires, I've been impressed but it's hard for me to give a good review of that just yet. I would say, so far, smooth or level gravel trails are no problem. Dirt and grass is no problem. Pavement covered with large stones or sticks will jack you up at high speeds. If the majority of your riding is on jacked up streets with large cracks or debris than this is no good.

The charger turns green when it's fully charged. If you notice, it also turns green when it's not plugged into the scooter. The best practice is to plug the charger into the scooter first before the power source to prevent electrical issues. It's best not to leave the scooter charging because you want the battery to last longer — you want to minimize the amount of time your battery runs too hot.

The new code is 1111. The speed limiter is 08. Set it on 100% so you'll have max power of the scooter's ability for speed.

I can definitely understand the worry about tubeless versus tubes. If I had to get a new scooter, I would definitely lean towards tubeless. Especially if your experience is with the Vsett 9 which from what I remember used to suffer from horrible flat tires.

i guess now is not a good time to tell you what you could have got with that money. glad you're enjoying it and it's serving you well, but it would be remiss of folk here to allow the casual reader to think this thing is a good buy. dual 600w with solid tires with a 48v16Ah battery for more than a grand is a fucking crime.

The Mukuta 8+ has the same specs but has a removable battery, same solid 8" tires, and it's $899 from atlantaescooters right now. I just ordered the 10+ from them and it will be here tomorrow.

The Tiger King wobbles at high speed — had to buy a $100 speed damper for a $2700 scooter. That's unacceptable.

These are all riffs on the Vsett 8+ which itself is based on the Unicool T8 (Zero 8, Turbowheel Swift, Fluid Horizon, etc.) albeit with a modified front to accommodate another motor and C type suspension. Ride comfort will be similar across all of them with most changes in throttle response and sensitivity.

Hiley scooters lie on range — you're not getting 80 miles, more like 20-27 miles at full speed. If you go slow maybe 30-36.
