Summary

The Joyor X10 is a heavy-duty off-road electric scooter that draws mixed reactions on Reddit, mostly from users comparing it to other options rather than from dedicated owners. The scooter is positioned as a rugged, off-road machine with massive knobby tires, high ground clearance, and dual motors capable of reaching 32mph when unlocked — but its sheer bulk (around 88 lbs) is a recurring dealbreaker for anyone expecting everyday portability. Community sentiment places Joyor as a B-tier brand overall — functional and affordable, but not a brand Reddit enthusiasts rally around. The X10 specifically suffers from very limited real-world owner feedback, making it difficult to build confidence in the purchase.

Pros

  • Top speed reaches 32mph when unlocked via the P-menu settings, putting it in performance range of pricier dual-motor scooters
  • High ground clearance and large knobby tires make it genuinely capable off-road, unlike many scooters that only look the part
  • Removable battery design allows charging indoors without dragging the full scooter — a practical advantage over sealed competitors
  • Dual motor setup delivers strong hill-climbing capability for its price range
  • Aggressive aesthetics and suspension setup appeal to riders who prioritize looks and off-road feel over portability

Cons

  • Weighs approximately 88 lbs — too heavy to lift into a car trunk, making it impractical for anyone needing to transport it
  • Joyor is rated B-tier by the Reddit electric scooter community, below brands like Obarter, Laotie, and far below Teverun or Titan
  • Extremely sparse owner feedback on Reddit — only one detailed owner review found, making reliability hard to assess
  • Requires a special tool to remove the axle nut due to wiring through the axle — a maintenance headache for flat tire repairs
  • Joyor's brand reputation is clouded by confusing multi-site distribution, customer service complaints, and DOA units reported by buyers
  • Rivals like the Zero 10X and Vsett 10+ offer comparable performance with better community support and parts availability

88 Pounds of Off-Road Muscle No One Can Lift

The X10's weight is its biggest liability. Owners love the ground clearance and knobby tires on trails, but the same bulk that handles rough terrain makes it impossible to store in a sedan or carry upstairs — a real-world constraint Reddit buyers keep running into.

B-Tier Brand in a Market That Rewards Reputation

Reddit's electric scooter community explicitly ranks Joyor in the B-tier alongside brands like HiBoy and GoTrax — functional but not enthusiast-grade. At the X10's price point, buyers can access A-tier Chinese brands with stronger build quality and better resale value.

Almost No One On Reddit Actually Owns One

Despite being listed and compared in buying threads, the Joyor X10 has almost zero dedicated owner posts. One user noted 'there's only one guy on Reddit reviewing it' — which means there's virtually no community knowledge base to draw on when something breaks.

I know you specified that, but I think you're still overestimating the average person's mechanical abilities. It's easy to say that it's easy, but haven't you noticed how absolutely inept the masses have become? Almost every single person who shows up in here is rock-bottom ignorant about maintenance, and even though it sounds silly, we can't forget it. Most people on this sub can't even put air in their tires.

B tiers... people buy Hiboy and Gotrax in the US and complain about quality issues, no? If you're looking for a B-Tier scooter in this list, you might as well as get a low tier Segway or something. I'd only really recommend the S/A tiers.

You are missing one of the best ali OEM/ODM Titan and Unicool. They are S tier for an OEM compared to the A tier ones you listed.

I've already made sure to specify that you need the mechanical ability. If you can't even maintain something as simple as a e-scooter... simpler than literal unpowered bikes... I have no words.

How much, as a % do you actually save buying an A tier or B tier scooter? I don't think I would even consider it when factoring in parts. Any breakage likely means a loss of a large percentage of the riding season which is maybe 6 months here in Canada. And then to have a lower resale value?

The blade 10x is the same as the zero 10x is the same as the Apollo Pro, is the same as the Turbowheel Lighting which are all rebranded versions of the T10-DDM. None of which can go 70km on a single charge. 70km is a long ways! The 10x only advertises 61km range, and that is theoretical.

The 10x is super customizable. Lots of modding parts available.

I have also contacted the real European joyor and they confirmed the one ending in s is fake. I got completely burned by a DOA scooter that they refuse to return. Credit card company and paypal want me to return to their address of record which is in China... obviously shipping a large 50lb box to China is very cost prohibitive.

Annoyingly, it seems like some of the scooters have a different version in the EU store. For instance the F3 has a front suspension in the EU store, but not on the US targeted one. Additionally some models seem to be completely missing from the US store.

Maybe up your budget by $200 and get the GT1?

The Yume has newer electronics and a better design so I'd go with that. Plus Yume at least has warehouses in the US so if you need parts, they should be easier to get.

Get a dualtron Togo 48v version not 36v it has dual 600w motors and is a pretty decent cheaper scooter from one of the top of the line brands.

Well, I went with the OX, although the Zero 10X is honestly more bang for the buck, I think the OX will survive the winter better with less modifications.

Yeah, still riding that bugger to work, the ODO sits at around 7400 km. Aside from punctures in the tires and the back mudguard snapped back when I transported it in a car (3D printed a new one) and the constant change on the back brake plates, it's been going well.

I recommend studded tires for winter riding, but depending on the weather, a comfortable ride will be no more than 20-30 km/h, as some sections of the road may be slippery.

I had another version of the X10. Only had it for a few weeks. Its huge and weights about 88lbs. It is very high off the ground. You feel like you are stepping off a high stool each time you get off it. Great for off road. Tires are huge and knobby. I would imagine it would be great for off road but I never got a chance to do it. Can reach 32mph if you unlock the max speed settings on p menu. Easily removable battery so I can charge it the house or garage.

The X10 is just too massive and heavy for everyday use. Putting in a trunk of a sedan is out of the question.

I would not select a joyor unless you plan to run solid tires or don't expect to have many flats... requires a special tool to get the axle nut off due to the wire running through the end of the axle.

I urge you, for your own good, to steer clear of Joyor! Their products are nothing but a disaster, and their so-called customer service team is a bunch of scammers. My rear fender broke almost instantly, and the screws came loose, leading to a terrifying accident that could have been catastrophic. This is not just a design flaw—it's a serious safety issue!

With so much drama I decided not to play the game and brought a Zero 8 from Rev Rides. The Spanish site made it sound like they don't really sell to US buyers. Since all of these scooters are re-brands of each other the truth is prob somewhere in between. The final word is the US joyor site actually had paypal block my payment to them. So something is definitely wrong.

Definitely not the Joyor. I hear good things about the Mantis. I have a Vsette 10+ and I've never learned to Love the yellow, but it's available in a very nice looking gray now. For something with excellent build quality, on a performance per dollar metric, the 10+ is pretty hard to beat. I've had mine for 2.5 years and have had no problems.

Completely ridiculous how the China/US site has the F3 with NO suspension, but the Euro site has it with the front suspension. I can't figure out if they're selling different sub-models or perhaps a prior year model.

I've been going back and forth with a couple of sites all stating that they are legit. They seem to copy each other's sites, however very strangely have different model numbers associated to the same scooters. The original post correctly stated that joyorscooters.com is the Chinese one that targets the US market.

GoTrax GX1 has suited me beautifully. Great quality and performance for the price range. I would be weary of buying from those brands you mentioned.

It's a generic Chinese import and it's actually available in several power/capacity versions, so it's important to figure out which version it actually is before we can tell you anything. Generally accepted advice is that they can offer really good bang per buck if you're not scared of a toolbox, because there will be need to do some work on it every now and then.

I've had really good luck with my MotoTech Thor. It hasn't given me any issues. I did however change the handle bars out for a wider grip.

Wobbly stem? Well that is quite common issue among a lot of scooters, 10x is no exception. If you ask me it's not a big deal, adding a washer and sleeve solves it quite a lot, add rugged clamp for security and you will get massive difference when you follow all those steps.

Those extremely common suspension forks that I've been told barely do anything on the Halo? No. If I had to pick, easily the Yume for me.

For just right under $600 you can get the circooter mate, it's my current scooter. Goes 25mph and I confirmed 20mi of range. Suspension is decent but not sure about its off-road capabilities.

I bought a free boy j11 and it goes 55 km per hour 1200w single motor which is 34 mph. I go 5 miles in 15 minutes to work and then back home and charge it. I spent under $500 for it.

Recently got a teewing x5. I live in the rocky mountains and this thing is a beast, super high quality and it handles bumpy mountain roads and bike trails like a boss. Even took it up a 40 grade hill and it went up in the first gear like nothing.

The range depends on the battery pack. I have not yet tested the range on my 24Ah pack, but I am certain I can go a lot further than 30km. Probably somewhere between 40-55km, depending on how hilly it is, and how I ride.

Whichever one you get, you're going to have to carry your charger I think. Even if you are able to go the distance on the range, by the time you get to the last eight or nine kilometers it's going to be dragging its butt. It's a very perfect world indeed where you actually get the range numbers that are published.

If you drive the scooter on eco mode max 25km per hour maybe it will get you 35km and of course no hill climbing. Driving the scooter on eco mode is so boring and it will take you a long time to get where you are going. I use mine on turbo mode every day and I never got more than 18-22km.
