Summary

The Kugoo G-Booster is a dual-motor electric scooter that has built a loyal following on Reddit, particularly among riders looking for serious performance without a four-figure price tag. Owners consistently praise its torque, top speed around 55-60 km/h, and tank-like durability — one user logged 8,500+ km over a year with no major mechanical failures. The community consensus is that it punches well above its weight for the price, though it comes with a few notable quirks that require immediate attention out of the box. It's best suited for experienced riders who don't mind doing some light maintenance and upgrades, especially around brakes and tires. The scooter has also become a popular donor platform for DIY modders who use its dual-motor controllers to upgrade other builds.

Pros

  • Dual 1000W motors deliver genuinely impressive torque — multiple owners compare the pull to a motorbike, and top speeds of 55-60 km/h are consistently reported in real-world riding
  • Exceptional long-term durability: one Reddit user rode 8,500+ km over more than a year with only brake, tire, and screen replacements — no structural or motor failures
  • Strong value proposition at under £1,000 / ~€900, beating similarly specced competitors like the Weped on price while offering more power
  • 150 kg max load capacity makes it one of the more capable options for heavier riders in its price class
  • Highly modifiable — used by DIYers as a donor platform for dual-motor controller swaps, custom lighting, NFC locks, and secondary battery additions
  • Three speed modes allow speed limiting to comply with local regulations (e.g., 25 km/h street-legal mode)

Cons

  • Stock cable disk brakes are widely considered inadequate for the scooter's speed — most experienced owners replace them with hydraulic brakes (e.g., Magura MT5e) almost immediately
  • Off-road tires fitted from factory wear extremely fast on paved roads and reduce safety — road tire swap is strongly recommended for urban or commuter use
  • Handlebar wobble at high speeds reported by some riders, particularly lighter-weight users; heavier riders and those who adapt their riding style tend not to experience this
  • No Bluetooth connectivity despite having a companion app — the app is effectively useless on the G-Booster, confirmed by multiple owners
  • Rear mudguard provides poor wet weather protection, spraying water onto the rider's legs — aftermarket extension or replacement needed
  • Weighs approximately 30 kg, making it difficult to carry up stairs or transport without a vehicle

Budget Dual-Motor Beast — If You're Willing to Wrench

Reddit owners are clear: the G-Booster delivers exhilarating dual-motor performance at a price most competitors can't touch — but it expects you to replace the brakes and tires within the first few rides. Think of it less as a finished product and more as a strong platform that needs two or three targeted upgrades to reach its potential.

Is the Wobble at Top Speed a Real Problem?

One of the most debated topics in G-Booster threads is handlebar instability at high speeds. Heavier riders and those with motorcycle experience report no issues, while lighter riders have had genuinely scary moments at full throttle. The consensus: know your weight, know your limits, and don't max it out until you've logged enough hours to read the scooter.

The G-Booster Has Quietly Become a Modder's Favorite

Beyond being a daily rider, the G-Booster's dual-motor controllers have become a go-to transplant for DIY builders looking to add dual-motor capability to other scooters. Its wiring, controller compatibility, and relatively open architecture make it one of the more hackable options in the sub-€1,000 category.

I've seen this video before buying my G-Booster. I've made some research to find out that this design is applied to motorcycles as well. The experience I have so far doesn't worry me at all. I haven't felt any pulling on one side even at top speed. Is it dangerous design, I can't really say. Time will show for me. But if you look around, you'll see people using their G-Boosters for years without any issues caused by the design.

Yea it seems like this video is just straight up hate. The G-Booster has plenty of real owners using them for years without any of the issues the reviewer claimed.

I'm a G-Booster owner for over a year and 8500+kms now, and I have to say: this is a tank. Its fast, not that heavy, and pretty well-built. I've changed 3 things in over a year. Brakes, instantly replaced them with Magura MT5e. Tyres, replaced them with 90/65-6.5 road tyres, off-road tyres are not made to the road. And the screen - it soaked, pretty much my fault, didn't cover it. I've got absolutely no wobbles, and no technical problems with it.

I'm replacing the stock internal electrics (except battery) of my Kukirin G2 Max for a full set from a Kugoo G Booster for dual motor control without murdering my battery. I've designed and 3D printed my own custom Quadlock mount, added a second motor on the front, a full set of rear swingarms to correctly mount the motor and brake, a second external Citylion battery for extra range, and an NFC lock with lights and horn control. The G Booster parts work really well as a donor kit for this kind of build.

I have g-booster. I drove 2000 km without failure. The equipment, unfortunately, is not without critical flaws that you will have to correct / remove. The G-booster doesn't have BT connectivity, so the app is useless.

I have one, and first of all I want to say that the quality is in the middle. Far from ideal, but not a rattler. It's like any Chinese clone — worse but cheaper. Therefore, this price. From my experience for a year: changed brake pads, changed tires, once soldered the wire, the battery lost 25-30% of capacity. That is, as you can see, minor repairs may be required.

Is that a handle for kids? So nice! Love that the G-Booster can accommodate a kids handle grip.

The gbooster has a few flaws, first its brakes are kind of crap, the electric brakes are good, but you're going to want to replace the cable disk brakes to hydraulic ones asap, then.. The rear mudguard is useless in wet weather, water blasts against your legs, so you should have to extend/replace that as well.. It has no folding lock.. again something to think about, can be built/ordered. Biggest flaw is the handlebar lock mechanism area, its welding is prone to breaking, so it should be reinforced.

His review is just plain uneducated and you can just see how it's fuelled by his frustration of crashing with it. It might not be the best built scooter out there, and for that price it should be pretty obvious, but it is nowhere as bad as he states. I have one of these, and I don't feel any issues with balance, except maybe with my own when trying to handle that amazing torque. The scooter is great, it handles well and has a very decent build quality. I love it and the feedback is overwhelmingly positive.

The man's correct. I've had horrifying experience of it. Only being 9.5 stone and breaking slowly at top speed the whole front stem area wobbles violently from side to side. And it's not funny believe me. So I just now keep it in gear two at say 25 mph. That way I'm not sliding along down the road at nearly 40 mph having skin taken off me body. Stay safe dudes.

Yes I had one for a few months, did 1200km on it with no issues, pretty solid for the money. A better buy than the WW and a lot faster. Top speed I had was 35mph and I'm over 13 stone. Many have bought recently and many opinions on the electric scooter page — majority very happy with them. Only complaints I've seen is a few ordered abroad turning up with damage.

I have a legit one. Got it today. The torque is ridiculous and speed is more than enough. It pulls like a motorbike. £870 on amazon. Mine also included a bell, phone holder, an Allen key multi tool, charger, plug adapter, lights. The motors are 1200w each not 1000w as advertised.

I love my g booster which I've owned from over 3 years ago. I bought mine from a registered kugoo dealer which shipped and delivered in 4 days.

KUGOO G2 Booster is actually the same G2 Max but with dual motors and extra accessories such as signal lights, side lights and rubber mat on deck. In terms of specs very close to KugooKirin G2 Master: Motor 2x1000W, Battery 48V 21Ah, Max speed 60kmh, Max load 150kg.

Agree awesome scooter but from what I understand you can't speed limit them to 25km/h so they're not street legal where I live.

You can set the speed limit to what you want in the P settings.

Almost no scooter hits its claimed speed or range as both are typically measured under ideal conditions — sunny, warm, totally flat road, smooth surface — or worse, a lab simulation. If you want real world testing, check with the team at www.electric-scooter.guide when they do a review. Their course has hills, stop signs, rough patches, etc.

Glad to hear you like the G-Booster. I only received mine a few days ago and my first outings were quite promising. Got a bit of handlebar wobble at high speeds but that's normal if you think of the wheel diameter vs. speed. One needs to be a motorcycle rider to understand that.

I know that the 70/65-6.5 wheels are the best for riding anywhere. Maybe once I'll try but now I have extra 2 sets of off-road wheels (85/65-6.5) in the garage and 1 pair for track (90/65-6.5). I use off-road wheels a lot of times — nothing problem with them. Try with less brake power. Here it's raining a lot, wet mud everywhere, much safer with off-road wheels.

I love that the locking mechanism for mine is welded extremely well. Also I'm going to be honest, I don't fear a handlebar collapse as much as I fear me pulling it out completely. Bar collapse — I'm just bending my knees 'how low can you go' lol.

Is there a specific reason you chose the G Booster controllers in particular over a pair of VESC based controllers? Right now I have a pair of MKSESC 84100HP's in my daily driver and 84200HP's in my other one. I can understand not wanting to put the battery under too much stress, but that's what adjustable current limits are for.

Holy crap, you've actually gone ahead and done it. I'm impressed, that looks fun to ride! The G-Booster controllers are clearly a popular choice for these kinds of dual-motor conversion builds.

I wish I knew where to start with this kind of project. Eventually the plan is to purchase another scooter — have two, then one can be a project scooter and one will actually get me places.

The single sided hub scooter is known to be bad. Has wobbling balance and suspension. Not stiff — did you see the suspension, it's GLUE!

When you assemble and power the circuit on the G Booster, if the display does not turn on — make a short circuit of two red wires on this connector. The display and the whole circuit should turn on. So you need to connect the ignition key to this connector.

It's the 3 wire red black red — connect the 2 reds to complete the circuit on the G-Booster controllers.
