Summary

The Kugoo Kirin B2 (also called V1) is a compact seated e-bike/scooter hybrid that has built a quiet but loyal following among urban commuters and parents hauling young kids. Owners consistently praise its 400W 48V motor and top speed around 40-45 km/h as punchy for its size and price class. Reddit sentiment is cautiously positive — most long-term owners report minimal issues over thousands of kilometers, though the stock battery range disappoints heavier riders. It occupies an odd middle ground between a folding e-scooter and a micro e-bike, which either clicks or doesn't depending on what you need.

Pros

  • Durable 400W 48V motor holds up well over time — one owner reported nearly 3,000 km with only brake pads and a few flats replaced, battery still at 80-90% capacity
  • Top speed of 40-45 km/h stock is competitive for its segment, and the 120kg max weight rating gives heavier riders more confidence than lighter alternatives
  • Compact seated design accommodates a child between the rider's legs, making it a practical option for parents doing short trips with young kids
  • Battery is upgradeable — at least one owner swapped to a 48V 15Ah pack and reported 25-30 miles on throttle-only, a significant improvement over the stock ~14-mile range
  • Comfortable riding position for riders up to 5'11", and the suspension seat and stem reduce road feel on rough surfaces

Cons

  • Stock battery range is the most common complaint — around 14 miles before degradation sets in, well below what the specs imply for heavier riders
  • Speed limit is hardwired and extremely difficult to remove — multiple users spent significant time attempting to delimit it with no success; the blue delimiter wire either doesn't exist or doesn't work on many units
  • Shares a frame with much cheaper alternatives like the Jetson Bolt (available around $275), raising legitimate questions about value at its £500-600 price point
  • Replacement parts and wiring diagrams are nearly impossible to find — users attempting controller replacements reported being unable to source proper documentation
  • The Kugoo/Kukirin brand has inconsistent customer support — some users report fast resolution of shipping issues, others report being completely ignored after faulty units arrive

Can You Actually Delimit the Kugoo Kirin B2?

Reddit is full of threads from owners trying to unlock the speed cap, and the verdict is grim. The expected delimiter wire either isn't present or doesn't function, and one owner tried for months before giving up — right before his bike got stolen. The B2's 45 km/h ceiling appears to be baked into the controller itself.

A £500 Scooter With a $275 Twin

More than one Reddit user noticed the B2 shares its frame with the Jetson Bolt Pro. That doesn't automatically make it a bad buy — the B2 has a meaningfully stronger motor and higher top speed — but it's a comparison that sticks in people's heads when they're justifying the price.

Parents Are Using This as a Two-Person Commuter

The seated design turned out to have an unintended use case: hauling a young child. Several owners report fitting a kid between their legs on the seat, calling it surprisingly comfortable with the suspension stem. It's not a use case Kugoo advertises, but it's showing up repeatedly in owner posts.

Kukirin is a good scooter. For what you are doing you may consider the weight if it's a commuter scooter. 3 - 4 miles round trip you have plenty of options

NOOOOOOO!!!!!! Just bought a G2 Master from them, came with a faulty charger and every attempt to engage with them to source a replacement has fallen on deaf ears. They will take your money and then ignore you if you have any issues. I have just wasted €873 that could have been spent on a working scooter. BUYER BEWARE!!!!

I've got a G2 max with a few hundred on it. Fantastic scooter. Suspension has recently gotten a little squeaky, but that should be hard to fix. My only complaint is the cruise control is difficult to engage. I'd buy another one in a heartbeat though.

Yeah the best part is the price point, at $299 almost nothing competes. Only big flaw is the folding handle bar joint at the front, it's not incredibly well built.

yes, it definitely does what it's supposed to however I want to sell it, it is simply too powerful. It makes no sense to ride at 70 KM/h on a scooter. I have been using it limited to 40 KM/h. Also forget about folding the G4 to lift it and carry it around for any distance even if short: apart from weighting 40Kg there's no way to lift it without taking damage, there's nowhere to grip. If I could go back I would buy a G2max instead.

Could hit almost 40kmh when it was new. Now goes up to 36-37 kmh, with a lighter rider, can still go up to 40kmh. I like the brand.

I have about a 1000 miles on mine, it's a good scooter but i wish i would have gotten something with a dual motor, its pretty fast but it takes a while to gain speed

That's awesome! It's better than the Jetson Bolt Pro then. I probably would have bought this if I'd known about it and it was available back when I ended up deciding on a Lectric.

Sounds a bit insecure but each to their own lol. Its the perfect size for public transport, perfect seat placement for my 6 yr old as she is situated between my thighs/legs which very safe and secure.. especially leaning in n out of corners..and this thing is quick

Yes mate worked without a hitch for 2 months of daily use so far, I get about 25-30 miles using throttle only. I was in the same boat as you and got about 14 miles max with pedalling before. I mounted it with this clip on pannier rack and drilled two holes in it to use as the bottle mounts. Bike is quicker now too but I had a fair amount of use on the old battery so could be that

Wow, exactly the same but no, this costs £600 and goes considerably faster than 15mph. I also have the replacement controller already. I just need to know how to wire it up.

I can't find any wire that is limiting the speed. I tried even disconnecting the bluetooth module and it still is limited to about 40-45 km/h...

nope, and my bike got stolen a few months ago haha. But yeah I guess to change the speed is to buy a new controller and maybe increase battery to 52 v but by then the controller and battery wouldn't fit into the case. So I gave up and then my bike got stolen. Hope that helps :P

Aren't these kind of bikes just disposable? For $275 you can just get a whole new one

It has a high watts motor but, the battery sucks. So user can't be too heavy.

I'm 20 kg over the limit and I'm still able to get around just fine with this bike. I don't know how quickly it will die but it's whatever, I only need it for max 1 year of use.

Beware of Kukirinscootercanada. They send scooters out with imperfections like paint chips. The boxes will come in perfect condition but once opened, you will find paint chips. They say it has nothing to do with manufacturer and all to do with shipping even with the box not damaged. At the end of it all, they won't even provide simple paint to cover up the paint chip.

Look for a controller for a Jetson Bolt. Probably the same. Should be about $30.

I've never owned any e-scooter so I wouldn't really know what I'm missing out on. My main use would be just a 1.5 mile ride to work. I like the idea of mild offroad use being available. There's a couple parks right by my house. Most of my use would be flat road riding. I also don't really know if I want a seat or not so it seems appealing that it's included and optional.

Just got one as well and dude that thing rips on flat roads!! I'm on the lighter side at around 70kg and she also does struggle a bit uphill but I'm getting 58/60km/h on the display and I came from a Kqi2 at 28 🤣

I have the g2 pro2024 and love it. I'm a little mad that I didn't buy the max as one motor is a bit weak going uphill. But at flat surfaces it works just fine. And I have had 0 problems so far 3 months owning it.

To be fear anti rust paint or other coating is like $10, not rlly a big deal but I get it tho. Imo the little bit of hassle is worth the $400 discount from the more expensive brands, which is exactly why they're able to make it so cheap.
