Summary

The Dualtron Victor Luxury is a mid-tier electric scooter from Minimotors that appeals to commuters and weekend riders who want dual-motor performance without going full heavyweight. Reddit sentiment is mixed but leaning positive for its intended use case — those who understand its limitations tend to enjoy it, while newcomers are often caught off guard by its stiffness, quirky throttle, and lack of water resistance. The scooter sits in a competitive spot where it's seen as a solid choice for the right rider but increasingly dated compared to newer alternatives entering the market. Most criticism centers on design decisions that Minimotors hasn't updated in years, while praise focuses on proven reliability, solid build quality, and real-world range. It's not a scooter for everyone, but experienced riders who know what they're signing up for rarely regret it.

Pros

  • Real-world range is strong — riders on the 35Ah version report 50–60 miles at casual speeds, and even the 28Ah version comfortably hits 40 miles under normal commuting conditions
  • Dual-motor setup delivers serious acceleration; riders consistently note it's fast enough to demand respect, and the power-to-weight ratio is a major selling point over heavier flagships like the Thunder
  • Build quality earns consistent praise — premium feel out of the box, NUTT hydraulic brakes on newer models, and the EY4 display upgrade over older EY3 units are noted improvements
  • Battery longevity holds up well over time; one owner reported 1,300 miles across 38 charge cycles with no battery degradation on Samsung cells
  • Compact geometry relative to its power class makes it a practical commuter — riders frequently cite it as hitting the sweet spot between performance and manageable size
  • The Luxury+ variant adds meaningful hardware: longer deck (+60mm), taller handlebars, a proper headlight, horn, turn signals, and a controller upgrade from 2×30A to 2×32A

Cons

  • No IP water resistance rating is the most cited functional dealbreaker — this is a commuter-sized scooter with zero rain protection, forcing riders to avoid wet conditions or risk damage to electrical components
  • Rubber cartridge suspension is genuinely stiff and divides opinion hard; multiple owners describe it as jarring, particularly on rough urban roads, though some report improvement after 500–600km of break-in
  • The folding stem mechanism is widely criticized for requiring excessive force to operate and developing wobble over time — users frequently recommend replacing clamp bolts with standard bolts or buying a non-folding stem clamp
  • The platform is considered technologically stagnant — the core frame design hasn't seen meaningful updates since around 2020, and competitors like Kaabo Mantis King GT offer more modern engineering in the same price range
  • Regenerative braking reliability is a point of debate; early-generation Dualtron controller burnout issues from regen braking are well-documented, and while newer units appear more stable, some sellers still advise disabling it
  • The standard Luxury model lacks a front light and horn out of the box, the stock mudguard offers poor splash protection, and the deck length is short enough that taller riders (near 6ft) find it cramped without aftermarket footrest extensions

The Suspension Isn't Broken — It Just Needs 500km to Become Rideable

Rubber cartridge suspension is one of the Victor Luxury's most polarizing traits. New owners frequently complain it rides like a jackhammer, but experienced Dualtron riders say it softens meaningfully after a few hundred kilometers. Adjusting swing arm angle and applying silicone spray to the cartridges are community-standard fixes that make a genuine difference.

A Commuter Scooter With No Rain Protection Is a Hard Sell in 2025

For a scooter that's compact and light enough to be marketed as a daily commuter, the absence of any IP water resistance rating is a significant design oversight. Riders are advised to keep a plastic bag on hand if caught in rain, and the community is split on whether aftermarket weatherproofing is worth the effort or a sign to consider other options.

The Victor Luxury+ Is a Different Scooter, Not Just an Upgrade

Many buyers treat the Luxury and Luxury+ as minor variants, but the differences are substantial: the Plus adds 60mm to both deck length and handlebar height, includes integrated lighting and turn signals, and bumps the controller output. Riders who found the standard Luxury too cramped often wish they'd gone straight to the Plus — or the newer Limited with its redesigned folding stem.

That's one of the bigger downsides of dualtrons, the rubber suspension. Not much give in it, and even fewer replacement options. Although there isn't really a scooter out there that has enough suspension travel to really eliminate bumps.

Could have been perfect with an IP rating. Let's be real, most of us on here commute with our scooters and commuting at times means going out in the elements. The compact build is for commuting but you lose it's functionality with no IP rating.

I would turn off regenerative braking regardless as I am not a fan of EBS braking. I prefer to have full control over just how much braking I want to apply. EBS brakes can be very abrupt and the amount that it returns to the battery is not very significant anyway.

It's surprising that the company known for build quality hasn't pulled this together yet. Maybe one day.

I've had Minimotors controllers since 2019 (60v40A and now 72v50a) and use regenerative braking quite extensively. I only use hydraulic brakes for emergency and full stops from 10-0km/h. Never had any problems.

I have the same scooter. Don't like how jerky the throttle is and the angle of the stem is horrible. Uncomfortable to ride to say the least.

I have the same scooter and found it too stiff as well until I changed the angle of the swing arms so it rides lower. Ride like that for a few hundred kms and hit a few good bumps or curbs if you can then position the swing arms back to the high setting again and the ride will be perfect!

Plus has longer deck (60mm), higher handlebars (60mm), bigger battery, has a headlight, horn and turn signals.

I prefer the trigger throttle because I have a wrist injury and continued usage of the muscles required to activate the thumb throttle is painful.

Silicone spray makes wonders to the PU-rod cartridges.

I cannot speak for the luxury version, but I love the standard Victor. You WILL want to purchase the carbonrevo sliders, available on minimotors website. Additional taillights are always good for visibility.

Since I forget when I bought it. But I have 1300 miles on it and only 38 charge cycles. Battery life has not changed. I have the Samsung cells.

IMHO the luxury plus has a better ridding experience due to its longer deck. The normal version feels way too cramped. Which was one of the main cons for me. Both offer a enjoyable ride tho, and hit the sweetspot between performance and weight.

Just wanna chime in that I also think the deck is way too cramped, but after adding a kickplate it's perfect for me, so could be an option as well.

You have 35Ah battery, you should easily get 40 miles if you are on ECO and maybe gear 2. you won't get 40miles if you are on county roads and stay around 40mph constant. If you are in a downtown city and ride the sidewalks, you'll probably get 60miles ranges (avg speed 15mph).

May have been an issue with the earlier models. I have e-brake on and have been riding almost daily for two years without any issues.

AFAIK the main problem was at full charge the regen voltage peaked over the mosfet breakdown voltage and fried components because of that. Depends on the model as well, the really old ones had no regen and turned all the energy into heat.

Definitely needs a foot rest to brace yourself against something in my opinion. Yeah the stock mud guard isn't the best, my backpack gets mud on it and my legs can get wet if I don't slow down for puddles. My stem clamps stopped being able to tighten up so I replaced them with just some nuts and bolts, they work really well and I don't have to tighten them up as often.

Mine came with a flat tire! But the split rim tire is really easy to remove and replace. Just check your tire pressure before each ride, make sure you're at 45-50 psi and you will probably never go flat.

My stock fender looked pretty much exactly like yours. I hated it. Too calm and solemn. I cut it off and bought a vsett rear hugger and it looks mean now! My headlights are garbage as well, I bought handle bar bright lights.

I have a 2021 Victor and it originally came with the split rims and tubed tires. I would get flats every single week. Switched them up for tubeless DT3 Tires and rims and never once had an issue again.

It does look like they've improved several things on the Victor since I bought mine. Folding mechanism is nicer, has an EY4 instead of an EY3, has hydraulic NUTT brakes by default instead of the crappy hydraulic zoom brakes and it has a rear reflector.

Yeah it's scary fast and the throttle takes time to get used to. I actually hated it at first, like to slowly go up in speed you gotta squeeze really slow and that shit takes time to get used to. I like it now though.

Build quality looks amazing. Design is beautiful. The deck is insanely high, like 30 cm above the ground, which makes the scooter look impressive. The cockpit looks stunning. Geometry and dimensions are nice. I feel I would not need a bigger scooter.

Electronic braking is something that you can get used to which will save you on brake pad replacements.

When I got my Navee s65 I thought the suspension seemed stiff (it's a cartridge type suspension as well) but after awhile it rides like a dream. Maybe there is a break-in period.

The victor is only good for a commuter because of it's light weight design. But it's lacking on the power dept.

Limited. The luxury is not IP rated and has the old crappy stem. The new folding mechanism is super easy to lock and unlock and the stem is solid, no creaking.

I have the 28Ah battery version and it can easily get 40 miles (64km). I charge my Victor once every 2 weeks and my daily commute is about 4 miles in total.

Minimotors products are a bit dated. They're a bit of a relic of the past; not quite really moving up to the next tier of scooter quality and builds. They're generally serviceable, but often not the best value for the dollar and have some design issues like stem wobble that pretty much still continue.

You should wait until you find a deal or can afford the Limited. I would not recommend wasting money on the luxury model. Otherwise you may need to look into a different brand, something like the kaabo mantis king gt would be a good alternative in the $2k range.

Much safer driving can be done with EBS at stages 4 and 5. It is also very difficult to stop the scooter when the EBS is disabled. It is almost impossible to slow down suddenly with only pads.

The controller burnout was a significant problem in earlier Dualtrons and Minimotors scooters in general. Not mainly due to issues with the controllers themselves, but rather due to improper cooling of the controllers within the chassis.

Outdated, they're good but there's better. More modern options — most of the dualtron scooters have been the same since like 2020.
