This is my amateur review of my first scooter the (DTX2 72v 42a version) that I bought in April 2022. I don't own a car so this scooter has been my main source of transportation for the 8 months I've had it. Currently it's sitting at 3,056.1 miles and the range nor acceleration hasn't changed from what I can tell. Everything still works to this day, besides having to replace the RGB light controller box around 1k miles.

You're right, at this weight you are getting close to a small moped. The biggest difference is portability - you can still fold this scooter and put into the trunk of many cars. It will be interesting to see the use cases for this scooter.

All but one of their scooters use a rubber cartridge suspension system, which is objectively inferior to the adjustable hydraulic suspensions found on many competitors. Also, square wave controllers and trigger throttles are an acquired taste. They make very high quality machines.

Their controllers are die-hard, but they do creak at the stems and any brakes can leak. They just use NUTT brakes most of the time.

I really don't agree that Minimotors isn't reliable. I actually think the opposite, that they are one of the most reliable brands out there. I can show you cases of Dualtron's that have way more than 10000km on their ODO and still fully functional. I've had several Dualtron without any issues. My friend has a Thunder from 2020 and it's still going strong with more than 10000 km ODO.

I've been in this game... eBoards, mid-tier scooters, Groms, ATVs, go-karts you name it. Speed's nothing new to me. I casually cruise between 35–55 mph in Mode 2 P-setting tuned, no drama, and still manage to push 81 miles with 44% battery left (52% resting). The range is stupid efficient for how hard this thing rips. Add a seat and two fast chargers, and it's pure freedom. Pull up to a charge spot, grab food, chill, and I'm back at 100% in under 2 hours. From 60%, I can juice up in about an hour.

Maintenance. Absolute hell. It's like the manufacturers didn't give a single f*** about average riders. You wanna change a tire? Better clear your schedule. Feels like fighting the final boss Malenia in elden ring just to swap a flat.

I also can't help but think this thing has MUCH better acceleration than a gas powered motorcycle. At least at the low end. I could see people using these things for deliveries or courier services in a big city with high traffic. You don't have to worry about parking it because you can roll it right into the building.

I have a Dualtron x limited. I had a brake sensor go out on me which made it unridable. Everything was fine after that was replaced. I love that scooter.

Yeah, this is kinda like the 250cc scooter vs. 250cc motorcycle thing. Definitely blurring the category lines. Then again in Thailand 125cc motorcycles are popular, so different countries have different definitions for each category.

I've never ridden the X but I've owned the X2 for a few weeks now. I've reached 58 mph on it with a seat, and 64 mph while standing, both on straight flat roads. I'm 240 lbs and on both of my top speed runs I actually tapped out while I was still gaining speed. I honestly don't think I'll ever really be able to hit top speed on the DX2, its just too much power.

The steering dampener is not a gimmick. Without it at higher speeds that handlebar would be shaking like it had a fever. Already some Thunder owners tried to retrofit their own home-made dampeners for this very reason.

It's not a gimmick and serves two purposes. One which is to avoid the wobbling at high speed for which the Dualtron are notorious for. This is in great part related to the center of gravity and tends to happen more often for taller and/or heavier riders and a good trick if ever it happens is to lower yourself immediately. It also provides a lot more comfort.

I have doubts that even Magura is good enough for the X. Magura is really good and all, but in the end it is made for bicycles - meaning for a lot less weight and speed. I'd say Mimo should have looked into what brakes are used on ICE scooters or motorbikes instead.

I mean unless you're getting it for a steal, I think there's better scooters out there than Dualtron. Idk if you ride in the rain but unless you waterproof it yourself, they're bad in rain. Suspension could be better, and the square wave controllers are loud and jerky — not bad but subjectively I don't like them compared to the low noise and smooth accelerating sine wave controllers.

I had to call Minimotors(USA) and ask how the hell to get this loosened. Even my local scooter shop was baffled. Minimotors called it an 'X Headset Tool' and it cost $50. Word of caution: it's a lot of money for this tool, but buy it if you need it. I tried re-tighten my X Limited stem by angling a screwdriver (with rubber buffer) into it and hitting it with a hammer repeatedly; I could literally find no other way and I needed it ASAP. It worked... For a day. And I obviously ruined the jamnuts.

You need the Dualtron steering column tool. It's available from volt-corp and minimotors.fr. Without the proper tool you'll be in serious trouble trying to service the stem.

The X2 peaks at 8300 watts and weighs 145lbs. The Nami peaks at 8400 watts and weighs 103lbs. Nami also has more efficient sine wave controllers with better cooling. Go Nami go.

Nami uses better controllers that are on the outside of the scooter which allows them to stay cool. The 11x overheats if you push the controllers too hard.

After owning a bunch of $500-800 aliexpress scooters I broke down and spent a bunch on my teverun and I wish I had got one years back instead of buying all the crap I did over the years. The build quality is every bit twice as good as the others and ride quality is even better. It's like going from a Volkswagen bug to a Porsche in every way.

I find Dualtron X very fast as is, think the biggest problem is that overly sensitive throttle. How fast do you guys ride? I ride around 20mph depending on batt charge/downhill.

Earlier on in the month, VORO had this on their website for a few days before removing it and they called it the 'Dualtron X3'. If I recall correctly, the price was $6,995. I can tell that this thing is far beyond being portable and will literally require a crane to carry it anywhere. It also looks extremely wide to the point where narrow bike paths and even doors would cause clearance issues.

I can't speak to the X vs X2 specifically but have seen a couple of 52 to 60 and 60 to 72 mods and its generally quite significant differences, particularly as it goes to top speed.

I was considering having it modded from 60v to 72v, but seems like that's not do-able if I'm using the current battery. I checked with Minimotors USA, and their quick response is: 'The original X has a 60 volt pack, so you would not be able to install the controllers for the 72 volt system on that scooter.'

Personally I prefer the design and feature sets of the Teveruns when it comes to minimotors escooters — sine wave controllers and quiet motors, good waterproofing, etc.

No. I don't really think anyone is even saying Minimotors is reliable or good. They make good parts-bin-style scooters; using tons of off the shelf parts (not bad in itself). But they haven't really been able to push further to move them up a tier. In the past, they had tons of burnt controllers, awful loose stems, and antiquated suspension systems.
