The biggest downside of the L9 is that it's absolutely massive. If that isn't a problem for you, you'll probably be more comfortable on that.

portability is important, especially if you need to load it in a car for an emergency lyft or uber ride. the ninebot g30p fits the bill nicely

Solid tires wear out. The dirty secret nobody talks about. Even with suspension the ride is still not as good as something with air tires and suspension. It just makes solid tires more bearable. And changing a solid tire like that isn't easy.

I'm not sure your definition of 'high end' and other people's understanding, including mine, align. By all standards of measurement the g30 is a good/great scooter for the use case it's designed for but 'high end' it is not.

Don't look at the advertised range of the L9. In real world testing the Max and L9 get around the same range. Alienrides got 21.5 miles and ESG got 31 miles on the L9.

These scooters usually are restricted by a software based limiter, meaning that the only way you can adjust the limit is by flashing custom software. I know people are successful doing this with the G30, but it seems people aren't capable / successful with the Inmotion products.

Note about that: it uses a different motor, wound to prioritise speed over torque, to achieve the 25mph speed. The regular L9 tops out at 19mph, but it has higher torque (better acceleration & hill climb) compared to the 25mph version.

Apparently the L9 (also known as S1) uses the same controller and dashboard as S1F. What sets them apart is the motor. Yes, both have a nominal 500w and 1000w peak, but the winding is different. S1F has less torque but higher top speed, 25mph (40km/h) while the former only achieve 19mph (30km/h).

While we wait any chance we can get a quick Ninebot max or L9 opinion. I'm really ready to buy one and I see the L9 is in stock at one reseller here. The ninebot max for me has the name recognition and is considered to be pretty bulletproof - but it's not got suspension which as a big rider would seem to be less than ideal.
