Summary

The Inokim OX Super has a loyal following among riders who prioritize build quality, range, and a premium feel over raw acceleration. Reddit sentiment is genuinely mixed — owners tend to love the single-sided suspension, solid construction, and real-world range of 25-40 miles depending on rider weight and speed, while critics point out the jerky squarewave controller, kick-to-start requirement, and a weight that pushes 70 lbs. The scooter is particularly well-suited for heavier commuters who can take advantage of its suspension tuning, but lighter riders frequently find the stock spring rate too stiff. It has a strong modding community, especially around controller swaps (ASI BAC, Flipsky VESC), which meaningfully transforms the riding experience.

Pros

  • Single-sided swing arm suspension is genuinely praised — riders report plush, surf-like feel at appropriate weights, and the design makes tire changes dramatically easier than dual-arm setups
  • Real-world range of 25-40 miles at speed for a 180-230 lb rider, with lighter riders pushing closer to 40+ miles in lower modes
  • Build quality stands out vs. competitors in the price range — multiple users describe it as the 'Toyota of scooters,' with no major structural failures after years of riding
  • Strong modding ecosystem: VESC/ASI BAC controller swaps unlock 38+ mph and dramatically smoother throttle response, giving the platform a long upgrade path
  • Available at Best Buy and through US retailers, making it accessible for in-person inspection and returns in a category full of direct-to-consumer brands

Cons

  • Stock squarewave controller produces notoriously jerky low-speed throttle — walking-pace maneuvering and sidewalk riding are genuinely frustrating without a controller swap
  • Kick-to-start is a divisive design choice: disabling it requires a controller swap (ASI or Jager), adding cost and complexity on top of an already expensive scooter
  • At $1,500 current retail, dual-motor alternatives like the Vsett 10, Kaabo Mantis, and Apollo Phantom offer more performance per dollar — the OX Super's value case is strongest on sale around $1,000
  • Rear mechanical brake on older versions progressively weakens and squeals; the fix (TRP HY/RD hydraulic upgrade) costs extra, and even the OXO's hydraulic brakes have received mixed feedback
  • Stem wobble has been reported across multiple threads, and the folding latch bracket uses soft steel bolts that can fail under stress — a known issue with an aftermarket fix (Sub13 mod)

The Controller Is the Scooter's Biggest Enemy

Nearly every criticism of the OX Super traces back to the stock squarewave controller: jerky throttle, locked speed steps, and kick-to-start that can't be disabled without a parts swap. Riders who drop in a VESC or ASI BAC describe it as a completely different machine — but that upgrade adds $150-$400 to an already premium price.

Is $1,500 the Right Price for a Single-Motor Scooter?

Reddit consistently flags the OX Super's value proposition as conditional. At $1,000-$1,100 on sale, it's a compelling buy for commuters who want durability and range without dual-motor complexity. At $1,500 list price, the dual-motor competition makes the calculus harder to justify, especially for riders chasing speed or torque.

Built for Heavier Riders, Overlooked by Lighter Ones

The OX Super's suspension was designed with a rider weight range in mind that leaves sub-130 lb riders on a nearly rigid platform. Multiple owners under 110 lbs report harsh rides and recommend the scooter primarily to heavier commuters. Adjusting to the tall suspension spacers helps, but the fix isn't intuitive out of the box.

The Inokim is a nice scooter but I still wouldn't take the hit on selling the P100S and buying another scooter.

Sounds like you chose the wrong scooter.

Ziptie that front brake cable or reroute it externally and under the arm, it's uncomfortably close to the wheel. I can tell you by experience that if it goes out of position and starts touching the wheel it takes a surprisingly short time for the tire to rub through.

I bought OXO and got it delivered yesterday, best thing that I ever did, quality is top notch and delivered in 5 days from Miami, they have couple stores around the US for example in New York too, if you thinking buying it I say yes, better than Segway, good customer support too.

I kind of reached the same conclusions. I bought an OXO and ran it head to head with an Apollo City Pro 2023. I agree about the throttle, it's very jerky at low/walking speeds. Because of the kick-start, it will sometimes cut the motor while I'm struggling to finesse it at low speeds. Otherwise I don't mind the kick-start. My kickstand was fine but the cheap-o bell arrived broken.

It uses dated squarewave type controllers which will lock your speed to the throttle input, so it just does full power (even at 0 speed) till it achieves that speed. That means it will react very jerky.

I have OX super and to be honest getting it was one of the biggest mistakes I made. I did so many upgrades for this pile of junk to fix all the issues manufacturer didn't bother to fix. Deck cracked after few months, made new one. Stem wobbles like shit and bolts they used for a folding latch bracket are soft steel ones, I found out about them in a hard way when it folded on me when I was going over 35 km/h, replaced them with hardened steel ones and permafixed with Sub13 stem bracket mod.

I think the suspension is one of its best features, haven't had any issues so far at 900km. You also have the option of adjusting it for off-roading if you wish.

The OX series just aren't dragsters. They aren't marketed as speed demons. They are my favourite scooter to ride but yeah, there are scooters with faster and more powerful acceleration. The question becomes how much difference does it make to you? Big acceleration is a little heavier on the battery too. Slower take-offs help your range, if only a bit.

My brother has an OX and I've tried it a few times — it's never had a wobble at 25mph.

You have it in kick start mode — p settings you can change that. Probably get lighter springs for your suspension. You should be bending your knees when you ride. Small wheels means they are more vulnerable to obstacles, no doubt on that. Generally speaking the more power a scooter has the heavier it is and that also rings true with safety.

Inokim seems popular in Europe but I've never run into one in the US personally. My main concern with going with a brand that isn't that popular is finding spare parts and community support. With Segway there are so many dealers that you can always find a spare part if you need it. With Inokim I'm not sure how good their inventory management system is for spare parts.

Disabling Kick-to-start sadly requires a controller swap from ASI or Jager. If you use the 'tall' suspension adapters, it becomes plush but is substantially higher off the ground. The throttle control is terrible but there are sine wave controllers with updated displays and throttle.

I built a company based on this scoot. It has its flaws, but I really liked the way it looks, so I decided to upgrade it with my own electronics and fix the existing issues. Since my 1st ASI BAC installation this is the most popular scooter in Israel. We have an insane mod community for this one. It's not the best as stock, but it has enormous potential. I did 120 km/h with insane torque back in a day.

I managed to fix my issues. I redone the motor wizard for the larger hub motor and it's all working sweet now. I get a no load wheel speed of 52mph and have managed 38mph so far and the acceleration to 30mph is crazy quick. I'm running the stock Inokim super 21ah battery, the only real modification is the Flipsky 75100 and Sub13 cooling fins on the motor.

You should look into Inokim's stem wobble before considering an Inokim scooter. I remember a year ago I really wanted the OX because I like the design and the black and orange color combo. But when I was looking at reviews, the stem wobble came up a few times and I think Inokim released a fix kit for it, but it didn't really fix the issue and it was hard to get.

I bought my OX Super from Best Buy and so far so good. I did add grip tape to the deck and changed the rear mechanical brake to hydraulic Zoom. The range is pretty awesome and the ride is fairly comfortable. No complaints yet.

I got the new OX Super a week and a half ago, waited till the weather was dry to go for a proper rip which was today. Awesome machine. I put 15km on it and the battery dropped 1 bar, mostly wide open throttle and over a few decent hills. Build feels very solid except a little flex in the stem, I think this is due to the rubber pads used to cushion the joint. I'd like to have brake lights on both sides and built-in turn signals, but it wasn't a deal breaker.

Inokim build quality is superior to Gotrax. I have both OXO and Ox (upgraded with vesc, nut brakes, front light), and they are very solid. The only thing I would wish for is a more powerful motor, they are decent but have limitations.

I would stick with Inokim over Gotrax. I'm biased but I hear less bad about Inokim than about Gotrax.

I'm light at about 105 lbs. The rubber suspension barely compresses, so the ride is on the harsh side. Better than no suspension, not by much. This would work better for a heavier rider. So my knees get tired out from bobbing down for bigger bumps. Combined with the small wheels, I'm not willing to go faster than 24-25mph as displayed.

For being prettied-up generic imports, Inokim scooters are really too expensive. I've seen a few second-hand ones on sale where I live and I always think that their used price is about as much as I'd feel comfortable paying them new.

I have one like this for a few months and I didn't like it either, too heavy, range is not enough, I have to push to start driving, if I could I would return it.

I've had mine for 2 years. Nothing broken. Nothing wrong. I go full speed. I even take my OXO up hiking trails that are purely dirt and rock, no pavement. I weight 160. The scooter is good. One of the LEAST complained about scooters around today.

The orange arm is solid steel and could probably carry tens of tons without bending. Makes it super easy to swap tires in comparison to many other scooters, that require a blowtorch to undo motor screws etc. A downside is that there is no front fender.

Not for me. The most I've done is about 40km with 1 bar remaining. My weight 80kg and I only ride at mode 3 (which goes up to 45km/h).

About 50-55 km for me in considerate shared path riding, but I'm bigger and heavier. A light rider could do 60 probably.

As for the Inokim, the more I ride it, the more I love it! Really sporty suspension, a little stiff at first, takes a while to break in, but battery life is solid. As is the whole build, very solid. Also, if you ever want, upgrading the controller turns this thing into a beast.

I paid $1000 each for the two OX Supers I got for my brother and I. Not a huge fan of their customer service as it takes a long time to get replacement parts, but the scooter itself is super smooth, reliable, and removes my range anxiety. That said, at $1500 a piece (current price), there are regular sales for dual motor scooters around that price or even the OXO on sale to consider instead.

An OX is an upgrade in almost every way over the Quick 4 Super, especially in build quality. The Quick 4's deck is INCREDIBLY short and uncomfortable to find a good stance on, the build material feels like the type aluminum ladders are made out of, and the tires specifically sit weird in the front and it makes turning kind of awkward.

This scooter had serious reliability issues when it was released. I had an Ox and would have got an OXO had it been better but it seems the design was a poorly upgraded Ox that wasn't as great as its spec promised. I ended up getting a Dualtron Eagle when it was released and that was perfect for the price point and performance I expected.

I'm having a problem with my Inokim OXO. Only the front motor is working. The speedometer has also quit working. It just reads zero when riding.

I recently had to fix the folding mechanism on mine and the replacement cost 100 bucks. My issue isn't that it's outright bad, more that I'm finding it hard to get rid of. No one is buying it, but the throttle is too jumpy and the power too high to give to some local random.

You will get 120km range in gear 1 cruising and around 80km with gear 2. Once you're in gear 3 it's not capping anything and your motor will just suck the juice like no tomorrow.

Hydraulic brakes are much better. Squealing is usually due to contaminated brake discs/pads which can be pretty hard to avoid.

They are pretty popular in Europe and VERY popular in Israel, where it was designed. They've made the same scooter, with small yearly updates, for 5 years now, so availability of parts shouldn't be a problem.

Bought 2 ox supers when they were on sale for $1000 each. They're solid scooters for sure. The customer service is okay, but not great in my experience. For the current price of $1500 each I would consider a similarly priced dual motor like vsett 10, mantis, Apollo phantom, or save up for the OXO to get full hydraulic brakes and front motor. I don't have range anxiety at all. I can easily get 25-30 miles of range at full speed. I'm 6'4" 230lbs.
