Summary

The Inokim OXO is a premium dual-motor electric scooter with a cult following among enthusiasts who value its distinctive single-sided swingarm design, real-world range, and solid build quality. Reddit sentiment is genuinely mixed: owners who match the intended rider profile — heavier riders, experienced commuters, mod-happy tinkerers — tend to be satisfied, while lighter riders and those expecting plug-and-play smoothness often end up frustrated. The scooter has a steep learning curve and an unforgiving throttle that alienates casual users, but a dedicated community has developed extensive modification guides that can transform the riding experience. It's not a beginner scooter and Reddit is clear about that.

Pros

  • Real-world range consistently impresses owners — multiple users report dramatically outperforming competing scooters in range tests, with some claiming 110km factory spec holds up reasonably well in practice
  • Build quality described as 'tank-like' and 'legendary' by longtime owners, with solid construction that holds up to heavy use including off-road and dirt trails
  • Single-sided swingarm suspension is genuinely plush for heavier riders (160lbs+), absorbing bumps well and making longer rides comfortable at speed
  • Strong mod community with established upgrade paths: ASI/Jager sine-wave controller swaps eliminate throttle jerkiness completely, and VESC conversions unlock significant performance gains
  • Distinctive aesthetic earns consistent praise — described as beautiful and premium-looking compared to generic scooter designs
  • Hydraulic brakes on 2024 model (Inokim-branded Nutt units) are a meaningful improvement over older mechanical setups, offering better stopping power and reduced squealing

Cons

  • Throttle behavior is the most cited dealbreaker — squarewave controllers cause jerky, all-or-nothing acceleration especially at low speeds, making slow sidewalk riding and intersections genuinely difficult to manage
  • Kick-to-start only (no zero-speed start) is frustrating for heavier machine at 30kg+ — fighting dead weight at every intersection adds up on longer commutes
  • Suspension tuned for heavier riders; users under 130lbs report the spring rate is too stiff and the ride feels harsh, with the tall adapter spacers required to get softer feel raising ride height uncomfortably
  • QC inconsistencies reported across generations: broken kickstands on delivery, throttle springs getting stuck, brake calipers misaligned, and front motor failures on some units with no warranty response
  • Overpriced for stock configuration according to multiple users — one called it 'prettied-up generic imports' and several note the used price often approaches what they'd pay new, suggesting resale value is weak
  • Charging is slow on the included charger, and the lack of adequate lighting (deck-mounted lights are too low for visibility) requires aftermarket additions to ride safely at night

The Throttle Either Fixes Your OXO or Ends Your Relationship With It

More than any other issue, the squarewave controller throttle splits the OXO community cleanly in two: those who learned to live with it or swapped to a sine-wave controller, and those who sold the scooter because of it. Users who made the controller upgrade almost universally say the scooter becomes a different machine.

At $1,250 New, the OXO Is Hard to Justify — Unless You Have a Local Shop

Reddit's consensus is that the OXO's price-to-stock-performance ratio doesn't quite add up compared to Apollo Ghost or Vsett 10+ alternatives. The calculus changes completely if you have local Inokim dealer access — accessible service and parts availability is cited as the single most important factor pushing buyers toward it despite the premium.

Israel's Mod Scene Built an Entirely Different Scooter Around the OXO Frame

One of the more surprising Reddit findings: the OXO has spawned a serious modification culture, with at least one Israeli business built entirely around ASI controller upgrades for the platform. Users have documented builds reaching 120 km/h, and the single-sided swingarm that scares some buyers away is considered an asset by tuners for easier tire access and modification.

I'm light at about 105 lbs. The rubber suspension barely compresses, so the ride is on the harsh side. Better than no suspension, not by much. This would work better for a heavier rider. So my knees get tired out from bobbing down for bigger bumps. Combined with the small wheels, I'm not willing to go faster than 24-25mph as displayed.

Is that a one-sided fork? Hope that's structurally super strong!!

I have owned both and don't think you can go wrong with either. My personal preference is the Vsett. It is more powerful than my Oxo was and rides a bit more smoothly over rough terrain. The Oxo was a great ride though. I put 2500+ miles on one.

A nearby shop that specializes in the scooter is hard to beat in my opinion.

If it is rideable, it won't last. Avoid this 'deal' as it will likely cost you in the long term. It's had some obvious re-engineering done on it, ghosts in the machine from improvised repairs would be my biggest concern. This is one of those scooters that you will end up spending more time diagnosing and repairing than actually riding.

I agree about the throttle, it's very jerky at low/walking speeds. Because of the kick-start, it will sometimes cut the motor while I'm struggling to finesse it at low speeds. Otherwise I don't mind the kick-start. My kickstand was fine but the cheap-o bell arrived broken.

It uses dated squarewave type controllers which will lock your speed to the throttle input, so it just does full power (even at 0 speed) till it achieves that speed. That means it will react very jerky.

I have OX super and to be honest getting it was one of the biggest mistakes I made. I did so many upgrades for this pile of junk to fix all the issues manufacturer didn't bother to fix. Deck cracked after few months, made new one. Stem wobbles like shit and bolts they used for a folding latch bracket are soft steel ones, I found out about them in a hard way when it folded on me when I was going over 35 km/h.

Pretty sure the 2024 has Inokim branded Nutt hydraulics. They're ok.

'I couldn't care less about your questions' is a no for me. I wouldn't give anything to this person.

You have it in kick start mode — in the P settings you can change that. You should probably get lighter springs for your suspension. I would bug them again for a new kickstand, and a bell you can get for under $10 from most bike shops. Nothing is perfect in this world.

Disabling Kick-to-start sadly requires a controller swap from ASI or Jager. If you use the 'tall' suspension adapters, it becomes plush but is substantially higher off the ground. The throttle control is terrible but there are sine wave controllers with updated displays and throttle.

I built a company based on this scoot. It has its flaws, but I really liked the way it looks, so I decided to upgrade it with my own electronics and fix the existing issues. Since my first ASI BAC installation this is the most popular scooter in Israel. We have insane mod community for this one. I did 120 kmh with insane torque back in a day.

It's a beautiful scooter I used it daily to commute to work. Unlocked mine to 65km, more than enough speed. The only issue is the lock mechanism. I currently have a pipe clamp around mine for added measures.

The single swingarm design scares me. We don't see a lot of Inokim posts or buyers around here but most of what I've heard about them is par for the course. Nothing spectacular, nothing egregious.

I was considering between the same two and finally chose OXO. I liked thumb throttle better than trigger, and some say on Vsett 10+ it's less ergonomic than most to switch between throttle and brake. The thumb throttle on OX(O) actually works like almost a semi-twist throttle too.

I would lean towards the Vsett a lot more. Inokim is a bit overpriced for what you get. I have seen a lot of quality control issues that is honestly unacceptable for such an expensive scooter.

That's an amazing deal, and Inokim has legendary build quality. I can't imagine a better way to spend $1250, as no other scooter in that price range is half as good.

You cannot make it accelerate faster unless you change the controller. Acceleration is very limited. Else it's solid.

For being prettied-up generic imports, Inokim scooters are really too expensive. I've seen a few second-hand ones on sale where I live and I always think that their used price is about as much as I'd feel comfortable paying them new.

I have one like this for a few months and I didn't like it either, too heavy, range is not enough, I have to push to start driving, if I could I would return it.

I've had mine for 2 years. Nothing broken. Nothing wrong. I go full speed baby. I even take my OXO up hiking trails that are purely dirt and rock, no pavement. I weight 160. The scooter is good buddy. One of the LEAST complained about scooters around today.

This scooter had serious reliability issues when it was released. I had an Ox and would have got an Oxo had it been better but it seems the design was a poorly upgraded Ox that wasn't as great as its spec promised. I ended up getting a Dualtron Eagle when it was released and that was perfect for the price point and performance I expected.

I have an OXO and while I love its overall handling (it's amazing at going over bumps and feels very stable at any speed) I don't like its initial twitchy acceleration. Once you get up a little speed, the throttle is pretty smooth.

The kick to drive is definitely an oversight. If you're on a steep hill how do you even start? I wonder if there's a way to turn it off, pretty much a deal breaker for me because I ride around pedestrians a lot.

I bought the OXO when Best Buy was having a sale for $999. Loved everything about it except the throttle. The throttle is either full throttle or nothing. Very jerky. Hard to ride at low speeds on mode 3. I sold it just for that one reason. To me it was a deal breaker.

I really like my OXO. Similar specs would be any dual motor scooter with swing-arm suspension and dual 1000w motors, like the Apollo Ghost, Kaabo Mantis and Wolf X, Vsett and many more.

Had one and sold it. Throttle was rough and made it very difficult to ride smoothly at low speeds. I liked the solid feel and power. Brakes were meh, performed ok but just cheap overall and squealed like crazy. Also it took forever to charge on the included charger. But honestly, I probably would have kept it if it wasn't for the dodgy throttle. It's built like a tank and fast.

Inokim build quality is superior to Gotrax. I have both OXO and Ox (upgraded with VESC, Nutt brakes, front light) and they are very solid. The only thing I would wish for is a more powerful motor, they are decent but have limitations.

I found a flaw pretty quickly though: the throttle felt very cheap, and whatever spring they used inside is not very strong. It actually gets stuck about 1/2cm down instead of bouncing back all the way, which could be very dangerous if you think you've released.

I have an OXO and I ordered a Gaciron for it. I also upgraded my brakes to Magura. Bought better handgrips too, as the stock ones slide.

I have 2 OXO and they will easily do burn outs with the off road tires. Kinda scares people when they first get on. Looking for a way to make these less herky jerk on start.

It's my favourite ride. It's a little trickier to carry but I don't fold it ever. I find the throttle to be just fine but I like thumb throttles.

I love my Inokim Quick 4. I couldn't afford the OX or OXO at the time. But the range is pretty good. I would take this step up, and I think they've dropped their prices now.

The lights are completely inadequate and dangerous. They only serve to tick the box that it has lights, they're not good for seeing or being seen.
