Summary

The RTX 5070 Ti has earned a strong reputation on Reddit as the sweet spot of the RTX 50 series — delivering performance close to the 5080 at a significantly lower price. Most owners are satisfied, particularly at 1440p and ultrawide resolutions, where the card handles demanding titles with ease. However, the card's story took a dramatic turn when Nvidia announced the end of its production, with inventory drying up rapidly and community sentiment shifting from "great value" to "gone too soon." The 16GB GDDR7 VRAM, full die, and 256-bit memory bus give it a technical edge over the standard 5070 that many users cite as meaningful for longevity. Those who bought at or near MSRP ($750) consider it a smart purchase; those paying $900+ are more divided.

Pros

  • Delivers roughly 85-90% of RTX 5080 performance at a substantially lower price, making it the best performance-per-dollar card in the RTX 50 lineup according to multiple Reddit threads
  • 16GB GDDR7 VRAM on a 256-bit bus provides meaningful headroom for ray tracing, path tracing, and future games that push VRAM limits at 1440p and 4K
  • Handles 1440p ultrawide (3440x1440) and even 4K gaming at high settings with DLSS, making it one of the most versatile mid-to-high-end cards for various resolutions
  • Overclocking potential brings it within a few percent of stock 5080 performance — users report running modified BIOS profiles at 350-400W closing the gap further
  • Strong platform features: DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation, Reflex 2.0, AV1 encoding, and PCIe 5.0 support add long-term value beyond raw rasterization
  • Real-world owners report excellent results in demanding titles like Cyberpunk 2077 with path tracing, Monster Hunter Wilds, and UE5 games at 1440p with solid frame rates

Cons

  • Production has been discontinued, with inventory disappearing rapidly — street prices are now climbing well above the $750 MSRP, often hitting $900-1000+, which significantly worsens the value proposition
  • At $874+ (current market), the price gap vs. the RTX 5070 ($550-584) becomes hard to justify — buyers are paying roughly 50-60% more for ~25-30% more performance
  • Path tracing at 4K remains a stretch without heavy DLSS scaling — the 5080 offers a meaningfully smoother experience in fully PT-enabled titles like Cyberpunk
  • Some AIB models (particularly certain Gigabyte variants) drew complaints about fan noise, vibration at higher RPMs, and inadequate cooling relative to the power envelope
  • CPU pairing matters more than many buyers realize — users with Ryzen 5700X or similar chips reported stuttering that only resolved after upgrading to an X3D processor
  • The AMD RX 9070 XT offers competitive rasterization performance at lower prices in many regions, though it lacks DLSS and CUDA support which remain critical for AI/productivity workflows

Owners Loved It. Nvidia Killed It.

Reddit's verdict on the RTX 5070 Ti was overwhelmingly positive — until Nvidia announced it was discontinuing production. Threads filled with users saying they felt vindicated for buying early, while others mourned missing the window on what many called the best card of the generation.

Is 16GB VRAM Worth the Premium Over the 5070?

The debate between the 5070 and 5070 Ti comes down to more than frame rates. The Ti uses a larger die with a wider memory bus and 4GB more VRAM — advantages that matter in ray tracing workloads and are expected to matter more as game VRAM demands grow. At MSRP the Ti wins; at $874+ the math gets murkier.

The Overclocker's Secret: Near-5080 Performance

A surprising number of 5070 Ti owners report pushing their cards to within 5-7% of stock 5080 performance using alternative BIOS profiles and modest overclocks. For users willing to tinker, this effectively makes the card a discounted 5080 — though the memory bandwidth ceiling is a hard limit that OC can't overcome.

I've watched microcenter inventory levels drop from 30+ MSRP 5070 Ti cards to 0 within a few hours today. The 5070 Ti 16GB was too good for this world, RIP.

From a business perspective I get it, That same 16GB of memory could go into the higher priced 5080, But from a customer perspective it royally sucks.

The 5070ti is like 85-90% of the 5080s performance whilst being a few hundred cheaper, if you have the cash then sure get the 5080 but if you want to be smart with your money just save the few hundred and get a nice OLED monitor with your 5070ti.

Pour one out for all those who passed on getting one and those who gave bad advice about waiting for the supers. I still don't regret getting one in may.

From 4070ti to 5070ti, i would wait... from 4070 (non-ti) to 5070ti... I would do the jump even if it seems early, because market is actually so unpredictable.

Proper high end card, but the reviewer struggles to find praising points to be listed in the Pros column.

At $750 I would go with a 5070 ti, but at $874 I would go with the 5070. It would be one thing if you're trying to play at 4k, but at 1440p both cards are a fine option.

I'm honestly shocked that the 5060 Ti 16GB and 5070 Ti are being killed off completely instead of just being reduced to minimum levels of production. I understand why they're doing it as a business, but holy shit this is yet another depressing piece of news for consumers and gamers.

I impulse bought a 5070Ti last night and it suddenly now looks like that was a genius idea.

You're looking at roughly a 30% performance increase at 1440. To me, it's not worth it coming from a 4070.

You would be right. The 5070 TI is the best card of this generation price. Performance wise nothing comes close.

nVidia really are enjoying their new found power and are spitting on their entire consumer-base that lead them to what they are today. This is such a big FU to everyone. So sad.

You answered your own question; the 5070ti fits your budget, so get that. The 5080 is better, but not so much better that it is worth breaking your budget. You will get everything you need out of the 5070ti.

I had the money to grab a 5080 for $1450, but I thankfully chose a 5070 Ti instead and used the rest of the money to grab a 4k oled.

It's so ironic watching release reviews of the 5070 Ti and almost every single reviewer unanimously shitting on it for its lackluster performance bump. Little did we know how much worse it would get and how pointless our cries are.

The Asus card Nvidia sent for review had its MSRP bumped up to $899.99. Meanwhile the same exact Asus card was $649.99 for the 4070 super. You are paying between $100-250 for a ~10 fps bump over the 4070 super.

The 5070 Ti is what I recently went with. It was a no-brainer. A little overclock and it's right there in stock 5080 territory.

Wow. The 5070 Ti had a shorter shelf life (10 months) than the 4080 Super (13 months).

Just went through this exact same process at almost the exact same prices. I went with the 5070. 50% more money for ~20% more performance was not worth it for me. If both were MSRP, then I probably would get a 5070 Ti.

Did everyone somehow forget this is a fucking 70 tier card? This is mid range. Midrange card for high end pricing.

5070ti is seriously impressive! It handles everything I throw at it at 1440p resolution without breaking a sweat. Plus, with DLSS enabled, performance is even smoother. It's truly a beast for gaming. I'm really happy with how well it performs.

Built new with a 7800X3D and a 5070ti just before the prices jumped. Playing at 1440p with 0 issues.

I actually own the 5070 Ti, and after testing a bunch of cards hands-on I landed on it as the best balance of raw power, efficiency, and platform features, without crossing into ridiculous pricing. It's basically elite-tier 1440p with headroom for 4K DLSS or heavy ray tracing if needed.

The 5070ti is actually way closer to a 5080 than to a 5070. The 5070ti has the full die size and 45.6m transistors over the 31.1m from the 5070. It also has the 256bit memory bus and a bandwidth of 896GB/s compared to the 5070 with only a 192bit bus and 672GB/s bandwidth. The 5070ti will last you easily 1-2, if not 3 years longer than the 5070 will.

Picked one up in June, went from a 1080 to a 5070Ti and it's looking like it'll be another 8 years before I upgrade again.

I had the same setup: RTX4070 + Ryzen 7600X. I also upgraded to the 5070Ti and was really happy with the gains playing on 4k. But I did notice stutters more frequently. After a few months I updated my CPU to 7800x3D and, like magic, stutters are gone. The 5070Ti is great. Especially at 1440. But you'll really want to upgrade your CPU too. It's a MASSIVE difference.

It's ironic on so many levels. The 5070 Ti was criticized for being underpowered and too expensive, now Nvidia prematurely decides to take it to EoL because it's too good and too cheap. Don't let them get away with saying this is normal end of life stuff.

Freaking love mine, but then I'm coming from a 2080. Worst case scenario your games play a third faster and/or with higher settings, and you've future proofed your PC an additional couple years at least.

I have a 3440x1440 165hz monitor and upgraded from 4070 to 5070ti back in march. I am very glad I did, I can max out pretty much any game and add 2.25x DLDSR on top. 5080 is so bloody expensive for just 15% more performance, you don't need it.

I built a new PC back in April with an RTX 5070. And the only issue I had with the card was the VRAM. I play my games at 1440p max settings, and I regularly noticed the video memory getting saturated (Ghost of Tsushima, for example). Today, I ordered the Gigabyte $824 RTX 5070 Ti Windforce from Newegg.

I game at 4k on a 5070 Ti with fairly high settings. My FPS is typically limited to about 90 to 110, but I'm a rare sort who likes visual fidelity ahead of smoothness. The point being a 5070 Ti ought to destroy 1440p gaming, you don't need a 5080, save the money or upgrade something else.

I'm one of the rare people who has owned a 5090 a 5080 and multiple 5070 TIs and I would say the 5070 TI is the way to go because the gap between MSRP and actual street price is not horrendous. You can get 5070 TI in the United States for $829 US dollars which is not disgustingly high above MSRP unlike the 5080 or 5090.

Honestly I got mine a few days ago and I'm going to return it, I was hoping for more based on what everyone had said, I got the gigabyte gaming OC version. Loud, vibrates my desk when fans are over 1400 rpm, not all that cool, and performance wasn't where I hoped, frame gen gets to the fps I was hoping but that doesn't help when the games start getting more intense and frame gen is horrible with a low base fps.

I bought a 5070 ti recently and I'm very pleased. Running poe 2 over 130 fps and sometimes 165 fps. I also undervolted and overclocked it. Never over 60° while running just under 3000mhz. Some say it's equivalent to a 5080.

The 5070ti pushes my 1440p super ultrawide screen pretty handily. I could get a few more frames with a 5080 but at this level I couldn't justify spending an extra $300 for a near indiscernible increase in fps.

The 5070 ti is a lot cheaper and most of the performance of a 5080. I undervolted and OCd mine and am now sitting with 7% of a stock 5080.

I upgraded to a 5070ti in December when gpu prices were back to MSRP. I had the money for a 5080 but decided to go with the 5070ti because the cost to performance just wasn't there to justify the extra 300+. Grabbed an OLED and honestly that was more worth it than the gpu.

5070 Ti runs amazing on 1440p, I run 144Hz on most games. My 7600X bottlenecks it at times, but I've never wished I got the 5080 instead.

I'm very happy with my 5070ti. I upgraded from an old system with a 970ti but I never buy generation to generation, I upgrade when I am forced to because my specification no longer suits me. So normally that's every 5 years roughly.
