Summary

The AULA F99 and F75 are two of the most talked-about budget mechanical keyboards on Reddit, with the F99 being the larger 99% layout variant and the F75 a more compact 75% option. Both share the same core DNA — gasket mount, tri-mode connectivity, hot-swap sockets, and solid out-of-the-box sound — making the choice almost entirely about whether you need a numpad. Community sentiment is overwhelmingly positive for the price bracket, with users frequently calling the sound profile 'creamy' and 'thocky' and praising the value. The main recurring criticism across both models is Bluetooth reliability, with multiple users reporting key spam, lag, and connection drops when using BT mode. The F99 Pro adds a volume knob and slightly different numpad layout, making it the preferred pick for users who want everything in one package.

Pros

  • Exceptional value for money — users consistently praise the sound and build quality relative to the sub-$75 price point, calling it a 'steal' and rating it among the best budget boards available
  • Multiple switch options (Leobog Reaper, Grey Wood/Graywood, Ice Vein, TTC Crescent) cater to different feel preferences — Reapers are the crowd favorite for thock, Graywood praised for gaming feel
  • Gasket mount with 5 layers of sound dampening including dual Poron foam delivers a premium typing experience out of the box without requiring mods
  • Tri-mode connectivity (wired, 2.4GHz dongle, Bluetooth) and hot-swap PCB offer flexibility typically found in pricier keyboards; 2.4GHz mode performs reliably for most users
  • F99's 8000mAh battery is significantly larger than the F75's 4000mAh, making it a strong choice for wireless desk use without frequent charging
  • Active community support makes it easy to find switch recommendations, firmware tips, and mod guidance from experienced owners

Cons

  • Bluetooth mode is consistently unreliable — multiple users across threads report key spamming, input lag, and outright connection failures; not recommended for BT-primary use
  • The F99 lacks the volume knob present on the F75, which is a notable omission for a larger and more expensive keyboard; the F99 Pro variant adds it back but at a higher cost
  • Shine-through keycaps on the F99 Pro have readability issues in daylight — top number row legends are nearly invisible without backlight, and RGB color accuracy suffers with illuminated switches
  • Not modding-friendly — the case is difficult to open without damaging clips, and Leobog Reaper switches are notoriously hard to remove (they cling to keycaps during hot-swap)
  • The F75's multifunction roller displaces several keys, leading to an awkward layout that some users need weeks to adjust to; the compact numpad on the F99 places the right arrow key too close for touch typists
  • Software (Aula app) is mediocre — remapping keys across different connection modes doesn't always sync properly, and SignalRGB conflicts can break RGB in dongle/wired modes

Bluetooth Is the Dealbreaker Nobody Warns You About

Across multiple subreddits, users on both the F75 and F99 report the same issue: Bluetooth mode is buggy, with key spamming and input lag appearing regularly. Wired and 2.4GHz are solid — but if BT is your primary use case, Reddit says look elsewhere.

The F99 vs F75 Debate Always Comes Down to One Question

Reddit's verdict is simple: if you don't need a numpad, get the F75 for the knob and compact ergonomics. If you do, the F99 or F99 Pro covers everything. The price gap is small enough that numpad need — not price — should drive the decision.

First-Time Mechanical Keyboard Buyers Keep Landing Here

A surprising share of AULA F99/F75 buyers are picking up their first mechanical keyboard — and most are thrilled. The accessible price, multiple switch choices, and out-of-box sound quality make it an unusually safe recommendation for newcomers who don't want to spend big to find out if they like mech keyboards.

Hey what device did you test the Bluetooth on?? I've found that my OnePlus Pad causes those same symptoms with a lot of keyboards. Never experienced it on my laptop, though.

I have the F99 PRO - the dark grey gradient version with side shine through keycaps and south facing LEDs. One of the peeves I have is that the shine through isn't that great for the top number row. In daytime, it's almost non-readable. I've struggled trying to find the '&' plenty of times because otherwise the keycaps are blank otherwise.

Did this exactly. F75 was good but I missed the number pad. Now I have the F99 at home and F99pro at my office. The pro is laid out slightly differently with a full size 0 on the numpad.

Never used either but I've always used full layout keyboards and just recently bought a 75% layout and love it. My mouse is so close and it feels very ergonomic.

I have the F99 for the 10-key (for work) and it's really good for prebuilt. A volume knob would've been perfect but I needed the keypad. If you don't have a need for it, get the F75.

If you are used to a full size numpad, the compact numpad will have you hitting right arrow with your thumb. Just worth noting.

I'm pretty sure Bluetooth quality depends on your Bluetooth adapter and what's between in adapter and keyboard. Also for 40 buck it's literally steal.

Wish they kept the knob or it was a 100%, I hate delete being in the wrong spot.

Depends on what you'll do with your keyboard. I'm a person that doesnt use the numpad but almost always controls the volume and my vote will be for the F75. If you use the numpad then F99 no brainer.

Thinking of getting the f99 as well since I need the numpad for work. I think Aula is a pretty good brand.

I'm a firm believer of numpad because a lot of shortcuts I use are linked to it. So I went with the f99.

I favor the f75, but f99 is more practical. I tried to remap the Alt key for f75, however, the changes only apply to Window configuration, while I like using the Android configuration for the multimedia F keys. Aula software isn't super good.

Maybe use the f75 and find a way to remap alt to control and change the key. It seems you favor the f75 over the f99 but the f99 is more practical.

I have a F98 pro, the only problem I have encountered is the small screen's date configuration apart from that everything else is great.

The Aula F75 Pro was my first true mechanical I bought a few months ago and has been my daily work driver for the most part. My only real beef is how tight the Leobog Reaper switches are to come off and most stick to the keycaps, so when I finally change things out, it will be quite a chore. I haven't tested BT, but wired and 2.4 have worked pretty flawlessly.

My wife bought the Aula F87 Pro due to the cheap price; it's actually a really decent keyboard and she likes that it can be switched from USB wireless to bluetooth. She does not have the bluetooth problem like you mentioned though. Doesn't sound bad too in its original form, no mods done.

I got the gradient pink of this F99 Pro, it's a quality keyboard but I have some things I haven't figured out yet. The RGB doesn't change in certain modes, at different times. For instance, when I'm dongle mode, FN + TAB won't change the RGB.

As someone who's recently ordered the F99 pro, I enjoy reading reviews for any aula products. Super excited for my first mechanical keyboard!

If you don't have a heavy use of the numpad (lots of excel sheets, using blender, or rogue like player...), go for the F75, the extra space on the desk on a day to day basis is just much better. If you need a numpad later on, you can still buy one separately.

Battery size is just a matter of how diligent you are at charging it and how long do you plan to use it wirelessly to use all 4000mAh.

I say go with the F75, just to try something different, especially if you don't technically NEED a numpad. Try it out and if you can't get used to it within a couple weeks, return it and get the F99.

I personally feel like Aula emphasize more on sound quality and switches than other stuff. Take the F75 for example — have some misprints here and there but sound is really good. Similarly with this keeb — looks and sounds really good but ease of modding and RGB is a tad bit lacking.
