Summary

The Corsair K70 RGB TKL is a premium gaming keyboard that Reddit's mechanical keyboard community has a complicated relationship with. It's well-built with a brushed aluminum faceplate, dedicated media keys, a volume roller, and a detachable USB-C cable — features that genuinely set it apart from cheaper alternatives at the same price. However, the enthusiast crowd consistently points out that for $90–$110, you're paying the Corsair brand tax on a keyboard with no hot-swap, no gasket mount, and no VIA support, while competitors like Keychron and Akko deliver more features for less. The Speed Silver switch variant divides users sharply — some love the responsiveness, others report accidental keypresses from just resting their fingers. It's best suited for gamers who want the full Corsair iCUE ecosystem and don't plan to mod or swap switches.

Pros

  • Dedicated media keys and a volume roller are rare at this price point and genuinely appreciated by users who work and game at the same desk
  • Brushed aluminum faceplate gives it a premium, solid feel that stands out compared to cheaper plastic gaming boards
  • Detachable USB-C cable is a quality-of-life win that many competitors in this range still skip
  • PBT keycaps included stock — no need to budget for an aftermarket set just to get decent feel
  • iCUE ecosystem integration works seamlessly for users already running Corsair peripherals with RGB sync
  • OPX optical switch variant (available around $70 on sale) is smoother and avoids the double-press issues reported on the Speed Silver versions

Cons

  • No hot-swap support is the most common dealbreaker — you're locked into whatever switches you buy it with, which is a tough pill at $90–$110
  • No gasket mount, no foam dampening — the sound profile is typical hard-mounted gaming board, nothing special
  • Speed Silver switches are polarizing: multiple users report accidental inputs just from resting fingers on keys, causing missed shots and misclicks in competitive games
  • Double-press / debounce issues reported on some units, with the only fix being iCUE running in the background at all times
  • Competing boards like Keychron V series and Akko options offer hot-swap, better acoustics, and QMK/VIA at the same or lower prices
  • No wrist rest included despite the premium price, which frustrates buyers expecting a complete package

Speed Switches: Feature or Liability?

Reddit is split down the middle on the Cherry MX Speed Silvers. Competitive gamers who love a hair-trigger love them — until they accidentally spacebar at the worst moment in a ranked match. Casual users and typists consistently return or regret the choice.

Corsair Brand Tax Is Real, But Some Think It's Worth It

Enthusiasts point to the lack of hot-swap and VIA as unforgivable at this price, while defenders argue the build quality, media controls, and iCUE integration justify the premium for users who aren't trying to mod their board.

The Double-Press Bug No One Warned Buyers About

Several owners across threads discovered a debounce issue where keys register double inputs — and the only workaround is keeping Corsair's iCUE software running constantly. It's not universal, but it's common enough to warrant checking before buying.

Keyboard people always say shit like this but never explain how. Also, for how much more?

I personally use a TKL with a separate numpad. I really like having a left handed numpad for productivity and it lets me have more flexibility in arranging my desk since I do work and game at the same desk.

You'll either love or hate cherry speed switches. Luckily Amazon returns are hassle free if you can't get used to them after a week of use. This is an all time low price according to camel*3

Corsair's keyboard has 8k polling rate while the evga is 4k. Corsair's has 85% 5-star and 2% 1-star reviews on Amazon.

Came across this while looking for a replacement keyboard. One of the few TKL keyboards with dedicated media keys, and PBT keycaps at a relatively decent price. Sadly no wrist rest.

If you want to be in Corsair Ecosystem then sure but there are plenty of cheaper and similar/better equivalents you can pick up when they go on sale. Even cheaper used.

I have this board but with the cherry MX speed silvers. Fantastic keyboard. Super well built, media controls are great to have, detachable cable is nice, and it's just a very handsome board overall. Slap on a new keycap set that has a nicer more subdued and less gamery font and it looks perfect.

I use a G915 TKL right now and love it. I do WFH but my numberpad usage wasn't crazy high to begin with. I couldn't live with a 60% though, these arrow keys are too important.

I don't really like mine (I have silver speeds). Just resting my hands on my keyboard always have accidental inputs.

Only if it was brown or red switches it would have been good. Doesn't come with a wrist rest sadly... Blues are clicky switches with an audible sound just a note.

Game Mode disables the windows key, has better response time and I believe disables some key combos that would take you out of the game like alt+tab.

I like the quality of the keyboard but I had to return mine to bestbuy because I couldn't get used to the speed switches. Kept finding myself accidentally hitting the spacebar in games like valorant.

One time I was in a comp game that we had clawed back from a big deficit to bring to overtime and I was the last alive, pulled off a 4K and in the final gunfight I accidentally touched the space bar while spinning around to face him and lost the whole thing for us. Ultra low activation keys are a pain for me.

I have an older K70 and a newer K95, they're really nice. Quality is fantastic and it has all the nice to haves, like the volume roller, media keys, brushed aluminum faceplate, etc.

Blue mechanical keyboards tend to be the least popular, and the ones to go on the biggest discount. This isn't a great deal imo.

I have a K70 with the speed silvers and aside from the occasional double-press, it feels great.

Not gonna say it's just luck, cause that's me with their mice. I just like their keyboards though.

Really frustrating that they only made like 10 of these keyboards with red switches. But its nice that I'm not tempted to replace my perfectly fine K65.

Just get cherry mx browns. LTT did a blind test and that one won. If you're still unsure get one of those test kits. But definitely don't get overwhelmed with having to do too much research.

It's... fine. I used one for a few years before I evolved. But right now there are so many better keyboards on sale for the same or even lower prices.

This is way overpriced. EVGA Z15 is $45 for the same thing but it's hotswappable. For the same price you can get a Z15 and add your choice of switches.

Corsair's K70 series are great, premium feeling products for the masses. Even better when you wait for a sale. Best Buy usually has great deals on Corsair keyboards from my experience.

The speed switches version of this has gone on sale for $77 new multiple times in the past 2 months. Other switches are a bit harder to find discounted since they aren't carried by BestBuy but this still doesn't feel like that great of a deal.

Got that keyboard before. Have problem with double clicking and the only solution is keeping Icue software running the entire time. Just be aware before buying.

If you like MX speed switches then it's not necessarily a bad buy, there are somewhat better quality boards for sale for around the same price.

Got this keyboard a few days ago, feels very solid, switches are butter smooth and my stabs came very well lubed from the factory. Some units come with bad stabs, it's kinda hit or miss from what I can tell, got a lucky unit I guess.

I got a corsair strafe a year ago. It was pre lubed and meh, the downside is that it had a double press issue. You needed corsair's software running at all times to debounce and fix that issue. I just use it for work, so I don't care. But there are better keyboards out there for less.

Game Mode can be thought of as a convenient way to customize specific settings. You can now change settings like the polling rate and Win Lock without opening the profile or device settings.

I have this model with the Speed switches and one with Blue switches would be the endgame for me. I love this keyboard but don't like the Speed switches.

I'm gonna be 'that guy' and say you don't want this board. First of all, they're Blue switches, which means loud double clicks on every press. Second, for ~$100, you can get an Akko or Keychron that will have hot swappable boards and better switches.

There maybe a 'PlayStation mode' in the settings for it on icue and that may have something to do with how the connections to the device are handled. I was having trouble with mine then I found out that was on.

Gaming boards suck. Get a Monsgeek M5 or something similar. Similar price, but vastly superior. You can also consider the Keychron V6.
