Summary

The IQUNIX EZ80/EZ75 is a hall-effect gaming keyboard with a premium aluminum build that attracts enthusiasts who prioritize aesthetics and physical construction over software polish. Sentiment on Reddit is genuinely mixed — owners frequently praise the solid feel and sound profile, but recurring complaints about firmware bugs, intermittent disconnects, and inconsistent customer service have made many cautious about recommending it. It competes directly with the Wooting 80HE and sits in a tough spot where it wins on build quality but loses on software and support reliability. The keyboard appeals most to users who want a heavier, tank-like HE board and are comfortable with some DIY troubleshooting if issues arise.

Pros

  • Aluminum chassis weighing around 1.6kg gives it a premium, solid-desk feel that plastic alternatives like the Wooting 80HE can't match
  • Proprietary Magnetic X Switches with claimed 0.05mm actuation point perform well for gaming; stock sound is described as muted and pleasing out of the box
  • Web-based software supports key remapping, layers, lighting, and mouse binds — covering most gaming use cases without needing a desktop install
  • Hall-effect technology means no contact wear over time, making it theoretically more durable than traditional mechanical switches for heavy gaming use
  • Design quality is consistently praised — IQUNIX keyboards have a distinctive aesthetic that stands out from generic gaming brands

Cons

  • Firmware updates have been reported to wipe user settings — a frustrating bug that remains unresolved for some users
  • Intermittent disconnects reported on multiple units, including brief signal drops during gaming that cause characters to get stuck mid-action
  • Customer service is hit-or-miss: some users got ghosted or strung along for weeks, while others received full replacements — no consistent experience
  • Web-only software means no offline configuration option, and some users feel features were removed compared to previous desktop software
  • Stock cable quality has been flagged as poor, with disconnection issues in some cases traced back to the included cable rather than the board itself
  • At the $200+ price point, competitors like Wooting offer better software ecosystem and more reliable support, making value proposition harder to justify

Great Board, Frustrating Firmware

Multiple owners report that IQUNIX firmware updates reset all saved settings — a recurring issue that's been acknowledged but not fully resolved. For a $200+ keyboard, losing your keymap after every update is a hard pill to swallow.

The Build Quality Premium Is Real — So Is the Support Gamble

IQUNIX charges a premium and delivers on materials: the EZ80 feels heavier and more solid than most competitors. But customer service experiences range from excellent to being completely ghosted, making the buying decision a genuine risk calculation.

Hall-Effect on a Budget Isn't Always Wooting

For users who find the Wooting 80HE's plastic shell unappealing, the EZ80 is one of the few aluminum HE alternatives at a similar price. That niche makes it genuinely appealing even among users who are aware of its software shortcomings.

I'm not familiar with that board, but if it's hotswap it may be worth inspecting the pin sockets. I had a key stop registering on my Planck, and it was due to the socket. There are leafs on either side that pinch the switch pins when inserted, and if they are somehow bent too far inward they stop making contact. But they can be bent back carefully to restore function to the socket.

It is hot swap, I'll have to open it up fully and take a look in there. I do worry that it will continue as it has affected a couple of keys. For a keyboard that cost $250 at the time of purchase I was hoping for better product and service.

Software - Wooting win hands down. It is the software leader. Iqunix software is almost there, just that there is an issue where your settings get reset if you update the firmware. Case build quality - Iqunix as it is around 1.6kg, very solid.

I had an issue where my L80 would disconnect and reconnect randomly for only a fraction of a second. Didn't seem like big deal at first just mistyping words once every few hours, but during gaming my characters would get stuck walking in one direction until the keyboard was replugged. Firmware didn't fix it and they sent me a second keyboard with the exact same issue lol. Then they deleted my bad review.

Yeah fuck Iqnix. I had 2 separate f97s show connection issues (brief disconnects) and the current one is not charging. Only working while plugged in.

I'm surprised, I have two and never had issues with either of them. I bought them 4-5 years ago, wonder if the quality changed since hence all the comments.

I almost grabbed one of their boards. The review on the stabs they used is what ultimately turned me off. So glad I didn't go with them.

Same here - I got the Little Prince one, has troubles, recorded a tons of videos showing it and they are just ignoring them. Anyone getting lucky with getting their problems solved? Idk what I should do anymore.

As someone who's been using their Wooting 60HE since the ARM version released, I'd been very interested in trying an 8K keyboard similar to Wooting's 80HE. Unfortunately I wasn't as interested in the stock layout of the 80HE, I just didn't think it looked very appealing or eyecatching at the time. I'd been following the brand Iquinix for quite sometime, what with their release of the EZ68, and while it did look appealing I knew I wanted to wait and try something with a larger layout.

EV63 feels like a tank — solid aluminum, amazing Hall-Effect switches — but the software isn't as polished. Wooting nails software and support, but it's plastic. If you want premium feel go EV63, if you want smooth software and worry-free support go Wooting. Both are great, just depends on what matters most to you.

Iqunix unfortunately only emulates QMK with a VIA port on top of a proprietary kernel. Wootility is apparently the best gaming software for magnetic boards, but for general use I would strongly encourage a board with open source firmware.

My Iqunix OG80 Darkside is the best keyboard that I own, and I have a fair amount of them. It's just well made and has never had any issues. Sounds like their customer service department dropped the ball here though, which is unfortunate.
