Summary

The Keychron K10 is a full-size (100%) wireless mechanical keyboard that consistently earns praise for its premium build quality, satisfying thocky sound, and one of the few genuine numpad options in the enthusiast space. Reddit sentiment is broadly positive, with the HE (Hall Effect/TMR) variant generating the most excitement — users appreciate the adjustable actuation and smooth linear feel at a competitive price point. The K10 Pro variant draws more criticism, particularly around Bluetooth reliability issues that require a quality BT 5.x adapter to resolve. It's best suited for office workers, productivity users, and those who genuinely need a numpad, rather than gamers or enthusiasts chasing cutting-edge customization. The K10 is widely considered a solid plug-and-play board that rewards users who don't want to mod or tinker out of the box.

Pros

  • One of the very few enthusiast-grade 100% keyboards on the market — options are scarce at this price range, making the K10 stand out simply by existing
  • K10 HE uses TMR (next-gen Hall Effect) magnetic switches with adjustable actuation points, giving users a level of precision tuning not found in standard mechanical boards
  • Build quality is consistently described as premium for the price, with a mix of aluminum frame and plastic chassis that feels heavy and solid on the desk
  • Hot-swap versions allow easy switch replacement for standard MX-compatible switches, making it future-proof for users who want to experiment with different feels
  • QMK/VIA support on newer variants enables full key remapping via browser without downloading software, a major advantage over proprietary competitors
  • 2.4GHz wireless via dongle on the HE and Max models is praised as lag-free and reliable, with battery life lasting weeks under regular office use

Cons

  • Bluetooth connectivity on the K10 Pro is notoriously unreliable — key repeat, input lag, and drops are widely reported, often requiring a dedicated BT 5.x USB adapter to function properly
  • No per-key RGB customization on most variants; the K Pro series lacks dynamic per-key lighting control and Keychron has not committed to adding it via firmware updates
  • Stock keycaps are thin and considered low quality by experienced users — an upgrade to PBT keycaps is commonly recommended
  • HE variant uses proprietary double-rail magnetic switches with limited third-party switch compatibility, making quiet switch replacement almost impossible currently
  • North-facing LEDs on some variants mean Cherry-profile keycaps won't work due to shine-through interference — limits aftermarket keycap options
  • The K10 Pro is increasingly considered outdated compared to the K10 HE or V6 Max, which offer gasket mount, knob, and better wireless for a small price premium

Bluetooth is the K10 Pro's Achilles Heel

A recurring theme across multiple threads: the K10 Pro's onboard Bluetooth struggles on older PCs, especially those without BT 5.x. The fix — buying a dedicated Asus BT500 or similar adapter — works for most, but it's an extra cost users didn't expect for a keyboard sold on its wireless capabilities.

The Rarest Layout in the Hobby Finally Has a Hall Effect Option

Finding a 100% keyboard in the enthusiast space is genuinely hard. The K10 HE fills a gap that few brands bother with, and Reddit users who need a numpad for data entry or finance work treat it as close to the only real option at this price with modern switch tech.

HE Switches Are a One-Way Door — You Can't Swap Them Out

Users who want quieter switches on the K10 HE have discovered that the proprietary double-rail magnetic switches have no available replacements yet. Unlike regular hot-swap boards where you can drop in silent linears, the HE version locks you into whatever Keychron offers — a real limitation for noise-sensitive offices.

This is a really good keyboard. I've been using the K8 HE (it's the K10 HE but without the number pad) and love it. As a heads up, Keychron actually uses TMR instead of actual Hall Effect (which is a good thing, as TMR is typically seen as a Generation 2 HE).

I know gamers and r/mechanicalkeyboards like their small keyboards, but after being in the hobby for over a decade, I've come full circle and think numpads are wonderfully useful. I've taught myself how to blindly punch in numbers from the number row without looking, and a numpad is still faster imo. 96-99% keyboards are the best; they squish the numpad in so it takes up about the same space as a TKL.

This is great. MSRP of around $150 with most sale prices being about $120ish. This is a great all around board that should be reliable.

Looks great! I have the 75% version and it's excellent. No mods necessary, it's a really sufficient plug and play board.

i have the smaller version of this keyboard. its heavy and wireless which allows for it to be really good as a coffee table pc that wont slide. keys feel fantastic. hall effect is cool. the aesthetic doesnt really match too much because other wood trimmed pc stuff is different wood. theres zero wrong with this keyboard.

I have the K10P and I stopped using it for a while because I was having intermittent connection issues. Then I changed some settings on my BT power saving on the PC and all of my problems vanished. This keyboard is my daily driver and I have no issues with it.

True that. Don't want to mess around with any mods yet. I was actually looking at either 75% or the TKL/80% layout. Figured I would for sure miss on the numpad when it comes to calculations at work.

I recently got the K10 V2 (non HE), and I've been pretty happy with it. The Bluetooth mode is working flawlessly for me, especially switching between MacOS and Windows.

I did end up swapping out for some Tai-Hao PBT keycaps which I am really happy with. I'm getting an even lower pitch sound out of the keys, and I love the feel of the PBT caps.

I hear the K10 has Bluetooth connectivity issues. Have you experienced any issues while trying to switch between paired devices? The multi device connectivity is essential to me, I will need to switch between my work and personal system frequently.

I've been using this keyboard for about a year now, and it's been great. I don't have any problems with it, and it has some really cool features like a great sleep mode, great software, and colours. My only issues are with the sound. It has great sound, but sometimes I wish it had a quieter keyboard. It's also hard to find customisable quality keycaps or switches for K10 HE.

I've had my K10 HE since November 4 and it has been mixed for me. I find the bluetooth connections laggy (my PC is mounted underneath my desk), and the same was true on the 2.4GHZ dongle when I had it plugged directly into the PC. However, after buying a USB cable and having the dongle on my desk, the lag has disappeared. Aside from that, it has been a great keyboard thus far.

I have the same one and I love that keyboard. It's responsive and while it's working, it works great. Although, I do have an issue where it freezes after some time on the dongle. Bluetooth does it too sometimes. Just the keyboard, not the computer it's connected to. I turn it off and on and it works again, but I have no clue what's causing it to freeze.

I'm not sure where/who told you bad things about Keychron. They are one of the best manufacturers out there, with great cost performance. I've been using their keyboards for years without any issues.

I received my K10 version 2 a couple of days ago as my first mechanical keyboard and I love the feel and sound of the red switches. The keycaps it comes with feel nice and I like the font. My biggest complaint is that the RGB is pretty dim and the software doesn't let you customize it all that much, you pretty much have the standard solid colors and rainbow effects to choose from. No control over the color of individual keys.

Just got a K10 today and am loving it! I'm coming from Corsair mechs (which I thought were top tier back in the day - boy how ignorant I was, the stabs rattle like crazy, can't hot swap, etc). I'll be using the k10 in the office where I need a numpad. First time using reds too and wow they feel buttery smooth compared to browns!

So happy I checked my phone as soon as I woke up. Been looking for a good deal on a 100% keyboard. Tired of my 75%.

I've had mine for a few weeks and feel pretty much exactly the same as OP when it comes to the surprisingly good feel of the build and clean look. Coming from a Corsair K95, it sounds so much better than the springy rattle of the K95's switches and the feel is light years ahead of what I paid more for from Corsair. It may still be honeymoon phase, but I'm really smitten by the smooth and light touch of the HE switches and nice thocky sound.

I had one for a while and quite enjoyed it. My only suggestion would be to upgrade the keycaps at some point. The stock caps that Keychron uses tend to be pretty thin and aren't super high quality. Find something fun you enjoy that also feels and sounds a bit better and you'll probably love this keyboard even more.

I have the K10 Pro with Gateron Brown switches. The spacebar started making a ticking/tapping sound after a few months. None of the recommended fixes worked.

I'm rather miffed at the dim RGB backlighting on mine. Even swapped over Pudding keycaps and it's a third of the brightness of my Corsair RGB mouse. I made sure it's at max brightness and I updated the firmware in case that would help. Back to Amazon I guess.

It's well documented on this sub that Keychron Bluetooth is very hit or miss. Onboard Bluetooth tends to not do well, any of the usb Bluetooth adapters from major brands make up for this. At this point I tell no one to buy a pro, get a max if it's available for the board you want. Maxes come with normal 2.4ghz that works just fine.

K10 pro has only cable and bluetooth. BT mode does occasionally throw a weird problem: it will get stuck for a second and then throw up a bunch of letters like thissssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss. It's usually self-limited but does feel iffy for a board that costs ~$100.

I have the K10 pro 100% and it did the same thing! Just got this thing yesterday and cannot get it to work on bluetooth. It's constantly disconnecting and lagging. Only works when wired. I am returning the keyboard and looking into something else.

my old k8 from 2021 is still kicking and all this time i've just dealt with the terrible bluetooth connection that drops out if it wasn't on a rigid surface or times out constantly until literally tonight when i found that i could update the bluetooth firmware. night and day difference.

With keyboards, Bluetooth has always been unreliable for me. The closest to being reliable wireless is Logitech Lightspeed keyboards.

No, get the V6 Max for a tiny bit more. Better connectivity (2.4GHz with TWO separate dongles), gasket mount, and a knob. I have a K10 Pro ISO and it's not bad at all, but without knob it feels naked, without gasket it feels basic.

I purchased the K10 Pro and the current firmware does not support per-key RGB. I think I will return the item and switch to a brand that supports this feature out of the box.

i've got a few keychrons and they're great for swapping mechanical switches, but hall effect ones won't work in the k10. he boards need specific pcbs with magnetic sensors. you could try some thocky linears like gateron milky yellows or oil kings in that k10 though - they'll give you a whole new feel without needing a new board.

The Keychron K10 is a good pick for a mechanical keyboard, way better than those bulky membrane ones. Typing feels nicer, and the switches can help your fingers not hurt as much. If you want a full-size keyboard, you should check it out.

I just got it in the mail and plugged it in. Feels great to type on but the wireless capability is completely broken. It didn't want to connect to my computer unless the keyboard was essentially resting on the PC case, and even when it was connected the input lag is unbearable and it repeats keys on its own making it useless as a wireless keyboard. I am really feeling ripped off because it seems like a really well made keyboard in every respect except for the wireless mode -- which was the entire reason I bought it.

Had the k10 Pro for about 2 years and just recently gotten myself a K4 HE. Honestly, go for either a 96% keyboard, if you use numpad frequently, or get a 75% keyboard. More space and less weight. The K Pros leave a lot to be desired — compared to the K4 HE, the stabilisers on the K10 Pro feel somewhat rattle.
