Summary

The Logitech G915 X is a premium low-profile wireless gaming keyboard that represents an incremental upgrade over the original G915, bringing USB-C charging, doubleshot PBT keycaps, updated switch design, and unified Lightspeed dongle support. Reddit sentiment is decidedly mixed — the aesthetic and build quality earn consistent praise, but the keyboard is plagued by a widespread and persistent double-typing (chatter) defect that affects multiple users across multiple replacement units. Many users who love the design and feel are ultimately forced to return or replace their units multiple times, with some moving on to competing brands entirely. This keyboard is best suited for users who prioritize a sleek, thin, wireless form factor for both gaming and work, but the QC issues make it a tough recommendation at its premium price point.

Pros

  • Sleek aluminum build with a premium feel — one of the thinnest full-size wireless mechanical keyboards on the market, appreciated by users who dislike bulky keyboards or wrist rests
  • USB-C charging is a major improvement over the original G915's micro-USB, resolving a long-standing complaint and reducing cable clutter
  • Doubleshot PBT keycaps replace the old painted ABS caps, addressing the well-known paint-chipping and shine issues that plagued the original G915
  • Unified Lightspeed dongle can connect a keyboard and mouse simultaneously (e.g. G502 X), cutting down on USB dongle clutter significantly
  • Triple connectivity (Lightspeed wireless, Bluetooth, USB wired) with near-instant switching makes it ideal for users who hot-swap between a gaming PC and a work laptop
  • Up to two-week battery life with RGB on, and all secondary legends are backlit — an improvement over the original's unlit secondaries

Cons

  • Widespread, persistent keyboard chatter (double-typing) defect — multiple users report going through 2, 3, or even more replacement units, all exhibiting the same issue within weeks to months of use
  • Logitech has not issued a firmware fix or publicly acknowledged the double-typing problem despite it being reported since launch, leaving users stuck in an RMA loop
  • G Hub software is buggy across platforms — macOS and Linux users get no official software support, and LUA scripting for G-keys no longer works on the G915 X unlike on older Logitech boards
  • G-keys on the left side are widely criticized for their placement — users frequently mis-press them instead of Ctrl, Shift, Tab, or Esc during gaming or typing
  • At ~$230–$250, the price is steep especially when the competing G515 offers foam dampening, factory-lubed switches, and no chatter complaints at a significantly lower cost
  • Switches are soldered onto the PCB, meaning defective switches cannot be swapped without voiding warranty — a significant downgrade vs. the original G915's hot-swap-friendly design

Three Keyboards, Same Problem

Multiple Reddit users report cycling through two, three, or even four G915 X units — all developing the same double-typing defect within weeks. This isn't a fluke; it's becoming the defining characteristic of the keyboard's real-world experience.

Premium Price, Unresolved QC Crisis

At $230–$250, buyers expect flagship reliability. But with Logitech staying silent on the chatter issue over a year after launch, users are left to choose between repeated RMAs or jumping ship to Keychron, NuPhy, or Razer alternatives that don't have this problem.

The G515 Elephant in the Room

Surprisingly, many G915 X owners openly say the cheaper G515 sounds better, has foam dampening, and factory-lubed switches — without the chatter issues. For users who don't need the macro keys or full-size layout, the G515 keeps coming up as the smarter buy.

Yeahhh.... don't go for that one. Since you have that budget, I'd much rather suggest the Iqunix Magi65 or the NuPhy Air 60/75. Pretty sweet keyboards.

Do not buy this keyboard. It has a major defect that results in keys being entered twice for one press. This was present on THREE of the G915 X Tactiles that I used. I tried all the steps, multiple machines, etc. The problem came back every single time and Logitech support said to return it each time. The G915 original does not seem to have this issue. Logitech should probably issue a recall on this keyboard or some kind of firmware patch if possible.

Disappointed they didn't add the foam and the lubed switches that are available on the cheaper G515 on this board. The G515 sounds a lot thockier and smoother than the G915 X it seems.

I had the g915 when it was released, moved to mx keys, and now own a keychron Q5. This month I've bought and returned the G915x. It is not for me. I got the white version, which only has tactile switches. I felt it too 'hard' to press and not smooth at all, I felt the typing experience was worse than my Keychron C, which costs 30 usd. The board is solid, single dongle for keyboard and g502x is really cool, and the level of customization is among the top.

No sound dampening / lubed switches on this board? Got the g515 and love it, was excited to try the new g915x because I loved the og but hated how the keycaps got so dirty so quickly and you couldn't change them due to the proprietary stems. Was also excited for sound dampening and lubed switches for that thoccy feel and sound. Seems I'll be sticking with my g515.

I am also disappointed with G915X Lightspeed. I also got issue when typing one letter, keyboard does it twice, very often, for me it is the 'S' key. Already made RMA for keyboard, waiting for decision. I had to spend few days to figure out G HUB logic, how it works — especially confusing some software bugs.

This board's ancient and also on top of that extremely shit from what I recall. If gaming is important I would consider a magnetic board but nothing wrong with mechanical either.

As a 915TKL and MX Keys user I'd chime in and say I much prefer the feel of the 915X keys over the shiny (greasy) feel of the 915 keys. Typing is still better on the MX but for combined use, I'm happy with the 915X.

I am also already on my third time returning the keyboard. This is not the Logitech that I want to buy. Its unacceptable.

IMPORTANT NOTE: G-keys on the G915 X press events are no longer detected in the lua scripting. That makes this keyboard an unacceptable choice for me.

I loved your sound effects! They actually make more sense than trying to explain it. I love my G915 but I also hate that it's micro-usb so once it starts giving me problems I'll get the X with the C port.

FYI they updated the firmware of the regular G915's dongle to also support multiple lightspeed devices. It's great and my Pro X Superlight has been connected to my G915's dongle for months now.

I just bought the G915X White Tactile and this pretty much mirrors my experience. I'm surprised at the different noise profile and feel of the keys between the two Tactile boards. It is a much deeper, almost thuddier sound compared to the G915 keys. It's not necessarily a bad thing, just different. I think I prefer the sound profile of the G915 over the X.

It is so bad on mine, it's so many different keys too. Currently trying to RMA it. I didn't even realize it was a keyboard chatter issue at first — I just thought I was double typing or something, so I missed the Amazon return window, otherwise I would just return it.

This isn't a dirty keyboard issue, and RMA only temporarily solves the issue. The G915 X LIGHTSPEED starts making doubling entries after a month or 4 or 5.

Here is a post that I made to fix this issue in Windows 11. I know it's not 'ideal' but check it out to see if it will work for you.

The G915 X seems to have a problem with double clicking. IDK how widespread it actually is — it could be just how most people only come to reddit to complain. But there's definitely a lot of people seeing this issue.

Painted laser engraved shinethrough caps are horrible. Get doubleshot or dye-sub replacements.

I don't regret the purchase. The new switches do not rattle near as much as the original G915. The original one could be considered a baby rattle with how much it shakes. This one feels a lot more stable, even at your fingertips, and makes far less noise compared to the original keyboard.

What I want to know is why Logitech only makes a 915X Linear in black. The white variant is ONLY tactile. I would love a white/silver keyboard to match the rest of my desk and PC build, but no one seems to want to make a white keyboard that doesn't sound like a typewriter.

I've gone through 3 of the G915X's in 5 months due to the double-pressing defect that OP mentioned, a very real problem. At this point, I'm wondering if all of them are actually like this or if there are some out there that actually work properly longer than a few weeks.

I have had a G915 for a few years now and I'm pretty happy with it. The G915 X is a decent upgrade with doubleshot PBT keycaps, which aren't as prone to developing a shiny or slippery finish. You can also program macros to any key on the keyboard, not just the dedicated macro keys.

Good for gaming, unfortunately pretty bad for working/writing as there are a LOT of reports for double-typing issues. I am one of those as well — need to RMA the keyboard a 3rd time because of this issue.

There is no way to choose inactivity effect, so there will always be an unwanted lightshow going on. I guess that's what you get for 250€. An unwanted lightshow.

I'm using the G915 X since November last year, and I have the Chatter problem from day one. Definitely no dust or anything, it was a brand new one, bought from Logitech directly. Also the volume wheel — regardless of how fast or slow I spin it, the volume goes like 100 → 98 → 100 → 96. Almost impossible to use it.

I have this keyboard and generally like it as well. My biggest gripe, beyond the software, are the G buttons on the left. I HATE their placement and bump them accidentally with my hand often. The tenkey-less version ships without them but also without the tenkey which I need.

I love my 915 x. Probably should've went with the tkl but that's ok. It's so much better than the original in every way. The nice part about low profiles is not needing a wrist rest.

I got the tactile version last week, and it feels more tactile over the original G915, in a good way.

I actually got the keyboard and love it. I have the tactile red version but wanted linear. The nkro works for the fighting games I play with it.

Yes, it does have double key issues. I have one and you have to 'learn' how to avoid it, but sometimes it just happens. Some people get very very lucky and get one without the issue, but it is for sure the majority with this problem. Beside that, the keyboard feels and looks very good. But if I would purchase a new one I would choose another to avoid this issue.

I have had this keyboard for about a year. Starting about a month ago my a, d, and e keys have stopped responding on a regular basis. Even as I type this message sometimes I have to hit the keys two or three times to get them to fire. Don't waste your money. Buy a different keyboard from a different vendor.

Not sure if you already made a choice but yes the issue is very much still going on. I replaced two G915X's just this year, one not even two weeks ago — that was my final straw. I moved over to another keyboard now. It is an unfixable hardware problem; there have been mentions about this issue since the keyboard got released and even over a year later there are no fixes or mentions from Logitech with possible solutions.

Was in the same boat. Tried the G915 X, went for the BlackWidow V4 Low Profile. Or you try the G515 Rapid — you can customize the key press and it has no problems with double key presses.

I have a G915X Lightspeed. It's fine — I like it and its software. Once or twice since purchase (~1 year ago) there were non-responding keys, but it seems to have been a temporary software issue somewhere, as I've not had any problems for 6+ months. It's used a few hours daily.

After this first month of use, the G keys on the left side of the keyboard is a poor design decision. I frequently press them trying to press the CTRL, SHIFT, TAB or the ESC keys. It should be positioned to the right of the numpad.

Logitech is not the same quality it used to be. All the latest keyboards from Logitech I got were bad. I also have the G915 — paint chipping off the keys. How long have we been making key caps and not had this happen? Shop elsewhere.

What would really qualify as 'make this right for you' would be Logitech not using shitty switches and doing actual quality control so faulty ones don't make it to consumers. This is a very widespread issue that was already common in the original G915 and has only gotten worse in the G915 X.

I had a G915, and it started doing double Space every now and then. I bought myself the newer G915 X as I love the design and feeling of it. Almost from the very start of my brand new keyboard, I had double entries on Spacebar and other keys. The lighting is super nice, the profile of the keys is perfect for me and the chassis feels very sturdy — but the chatter issue is killing it.

I've had them for 16 months and I regretted buying them since day one. All these issues happened since day one and customer support could only replace it with another faulty keyboard. Stay away from new releases and wait for the dust to settle, then buy after reading comments and reviews.

I had g915 full for a while — keys don't feel too special. RGB customisation is insane, software is really good. Connectivity and utility buttons are quite handy too. The metallic body is really nice too. But price for this thing is really high.

I owned G915 and its a good looking keyboard, but started developing double key press registering after about 2 years of use. I own G915x now, and its an ok upgrade, nothing shockingly new.
