Summary

The NuPhy Air75 V3 is a low-profile wireless mechanical keyboard that has earned strong enthusiasm from Reddit's mechanical keyboard community, particularly among users upgrading from previous Air75 versions or mainstream options like Logitech MX Keys. The V3 brings meaningful improvements over its predecessors — gasket mount dampening eliminates the hollow clacking sound many disliked in V2, battery life is dramatically better (claimed 1200 hours), and sleep/wake responsiveness is near-instant. Most owners are happy with their purchase, but the keyboard carries a real-world shadow: NuPhy has a documented history of swollen and exploding batteries across multiple models, and the V3 hasn't fully escaped that reputation. The board targets users who want a premium-feeling, quiet, portable low-profile board — and for that use case, it largely delivers.

Pros

  • Blush Nano switches are praised for near-silent typing with a creamy, smooth feel that makes them ideal for office and library use — a significant upgrade over the clicky sound profile of V1/V2
  • Gasket mount design eliminates the hollow 'recoil' clacking sound that plagued earlier versions, producing a noticeably more refined typing sound that has impressed first-time mechanical keyboard users
  • Battery life is reportedly 4x longer than the V2 with RGB off, with one user reporting only one charge needed over two months of use — a dramatic practical improvement
  • NuPhy IO software is web-based, easy to use, minimal bugs, and a downloadable Windows offline version is available — covers both Mac and Windows modes
  • Added features over V2: Bluetooth 5 for better connection stability, brighter/better-aligned RGB, near-zero sleep/wake lag, and a volume knob that V2 lacked
  • Broad international layout support including ISO UK, ISO DE, ISO FR — a community-requested feature that has expanded the keyboard's appeal beyond ANSI markets

Cons

  • NuPhy has documented battery swelling and explosion incidents across Air60 V2, Air75 V1, and V2 — multiple Reddit threads with evidence, and the V3 has not yet definitively dispelled concerns about long-term battery safety
  • The keyboard cannot be opened without risking damage to snap-tab clips — a hard limitation for modders and tinkerers who want PCB access or battery replacement
  • No QMK/VIA support — NuPhy dropped open-source firmware in favor of their proprietary NuPhy IO, which is a dealbreaker for the enthusiast segment that values firmware customization
  • Blush switch actuation force is so light that accidental keypresses and typos are a recurring complaint, especially for users coming from heavier switches or standard keyboards
  • Wireless 2.4GHz connectivity has reported issues including dropped keystrokes and slow Bluetooth reconnection after idle — not universal but mentioned by multiple users across threads
  • Nano switches are proprietary to NuPhy and not compatible with standard Gateron LP 2.0 boards, limiting switch options to NuPhy's own lineup which frequently goes out of stock

The Battery Question NuPhy Still Hasn't Answered

Swollen and exploding batteries on Air75 V1, V2, and Air60 V2 are well-documented on Reddit. The V3 hasn't seen the same reports yet — but owners note it's still early, and NuPhy itself told one user battery lifespan is estimated at around three years.

Best Low-Profile Sound for the Price — If You Can Live Without QMK

Reviewers position the V3 as competitive with Lofree Flow and IQUNIX MQ80 on acoustics and build, but the loss of QMK/VIA support and proprietary Nano switches that are frequently out of stock make it a harder sell for enthusiasts who want to customize beyond NuPhy IO.

Blush Switches: The Star and the Problem

The Nano Blush switches are what most V3 buyers come for — whisper-quiet, creamy, and great-sounding. But their ultra-light actuation force causes enough accidental keypresses that multiple users switched to Silver or Panda Nano switches within weeks of purchase.

I hope you are lucky and it doesn't catch fire. EDIT: you can downvote all you want, nuphy has qc issues and they are dangerous.

Have to back this redditor here. You always hear about nuphy when it comes to these incidents. Kind of crazy too considering how many brands should supposedly also have bad qc that could cause these issues. People joke a bit about the 5090 being a fire hazard but Nuphy keyboards are a legitimate concern given how many documented incidents have occurred. Wouldn't own one with a pet or small children that could potentially die from a fire. It's a shame because otherwise people seem to enjoy their keyboards.

Just a warning that my Air75 v2 had a swollen battery despite them claiming it was fixed in v2. I have no reason to believe v3 has fixed this. I will not be purchasing this and hope others are at least aware of the dangers.

Does it using NuphyIO mean it doesn't run QMK? Yeah, that's a blocker for me.

the only criticism i have for this keyboard is it doesn't have the shine through keycaps by default.

I love my Air 75 v3. Just such a perfect quiet travel/office board with the Blush switches, and it really does sound great.

I found the blushes a little mushy feeling (although incredibly quiet). Trying out silvers for now. Replaced most keys, very thocky and a little bit earlier actuation. Might leave the spacebar/shift/etc as blush but liking the silvers for everything else.

Typing from a white Air75 V3 with german layout, I must agree. Love how heavy but clean the keyboard looks. May it hold on forever! I'd just wish that NuPhy would release a shine-through variant of the default keycaps also for German Layout.

Does anyone else not trust that extended 12 month warranty? I've seen so much chatter about nuphy ghosting customers.

V2 had heavy hollow recoil which made it sound like it was clacking even though it had good tactility otherwise. The v3 definitely addresses that, also they made some improvements around stabilization (sleep/wake times), backlighting is brighter, battery life is insanely better about 4x more than v2). Of course the knob is a welcome addition and they also added BT5 which helps with connection stability.

I have wanted to grab a nuphy since their first release but I'm just not a big fan of ANSII layouts, now that the v3 has British ISO option I am on it like a tramp on chips.

i cannot tolerate how long ble takes to reconnect after leaving my desk for merely 10 min. v3 is just something else — it was ok-ish in v2.

Same on my Air60 v2, battery seems swollen enough that the keyboard won't sit flat over a MacBook keyboard. This, only after 3 months use in 99% wireless mode. Nuphy said they would replace under warranty, so no big deal other than the inconvenience of sending it back in, but yes, I bought the v2 only after seeing promises that the battery issue was fixed.

I literally got mine with blush yesterday and ordered the blue switches today! I love the blush, seriously creamy and easy to type on but I barely have to press to get them to work and I'm having a few too many accidental key strokes.

It's the best low profile keyboard on the market.

I'm having a fair bit of typing mistakes on the blush, guess there'll be an adjustment period. I was surprised by the almost pressure-less touch to register a keystroke.

Im leaning toward the blush switches. Too much noise is the reason im looking for a replacement for my halo75 and from sound test videos the reds and browns seem very similar and too noisy so blush switches are the only remaining option.

Great keyboard. Just makes you want to type, type, type... Feels great, sounds great... Whoever tried it these days, they were all amazed. I recommend it.

Was close to buying one due to blush silent switches, but read about the fire and bulging battery issues with NuPhy. Need a full size keyboard with numbers so gotta look elsewhere but silence is my main criteria.

Imo it's the best looking low profile keyboard on the market, absolutely love the black key caps.

I just got the keyboard today. I LOVE IT! Creamy is an understatement. It feels great to type on. I just need to get used to the slightly different layout.

I've got the V3 in black with brown switches. Although the tactile bump is not very noticeable I like it a lot, sounds good. (first mechanical keyboard coming from a Logitech MX keys)

Best keyboard I've ever had. There may be some minor software problems — volume down doesn't work right when reconnecting via dongle. And the backspace key is too loud relative to the other keys with blush switches. Otherwise though, yes best keyboard ever, I wouldn't trade any other keyboard I've ever had for this.

I bought an Air75 v2 and then a Kick75, Nuphy IO version. Admittedly I regretted because I realized that tweaking the QMK firmware is an additional value of a mechanic keyboard.

I inherited a v1 at work from someone who didn't like it, and I fell in love. I find the low profile very comfortable to type on all day, muscle memory for the nav cluster was quick to pick up, and I love the sound and typing feel. So I have been looking at picking up the v3 for home to replace my GMMK Pro with DSA key caps. But the facts that (A) it can't be opened and (B) it doesn't support open source firmware really flies in the face of my tinkerer sensibilities.

I have both the Air75 V3 & MQ80. What the MQ80 does better than the Air75 V3: Typing experience. Nuphy has come a long way with their typing experience by incorporating the gasket design, but you still feel like bottoming out. The MQ80 feels bouncy and so comfortable to type on.

Love the board, but disappointed with the switch offerings. Bought it with the brown nanos, was heavy for prolonged typing, yet no other tactile alternatives yet. Decided to try silver nanos since they were the only one in stock on their site, end up being too light and I kept mistyping unnecessary keys. The stock situation on the switches has to improve as well… Everything except silver nanos are out of stock.

They made this keyboard unable to be opened without risking of damage. For myself it is something which I will never buy this keyboard.

Im really disappointed, typing feeling on blush switches kind of heavy, no KOL review about this. Im using Lofree flow lite, prefer that one more than nuphy air v3. But the battery of nuphy is better, I only charge 1 time for 2 months using.

I tried both Blush nano and Red nano, both very good! The build quality, typing experience, and sound were all excellent. However, I returned them because I wasn't accustomed to the keycaps and kept making typos.

The blush switches are indeed too light to press, I am thinking about buying tactile switches if I don't get used to it. The knob on the other hand is too stiff and requires significant press to rotate. Another bummer is that NuPhyIO is not supported on Linux, I thought because it is web software it would be.

I tried the air v3 and loved everything except the knob (worst design ever just imo), and the connection is not seamless between devices like Mac, Windows, iPad and iPhone. No one except Logitech is doing good at this.

I love the low profile and how quiet the Nano Blush switches are. I'm having trouble with getting the handshake between my desktop PC and the keeb in wired mode done, so I can't authorize it nor get anything else done that requires NuphyIO.

I love my Air75 v3. I got it for portable use, but I like the feel so much more than my Air96 v2, that I use it primarily at my desk now unless I really need the numpad. I've been tempted to try the Node 100 but should probably just be patient and wait for the Air96 v3.
