Summary

The Wooting 60HE is widely regarded as the gold standard of Hall Effect gaming keyboards, particularly for competitive FPS players who want the best rapid trigger implementation and software on the market. Reddit sentiment is broadly positive — long-term owners consistently report zero reliability issues after years of daily use, and Wootility software is praised as unmatched by any competitor. The core debate isn't whether the keyboard is good, but whether it justifies its ~$175 price point now that budget HE boards have flooded the market for $30–$60. The 60% layout is a significant trade-off that many users eventually regret, with the 80HE emerging as the preferred pick for anyone who relies on F-keys or arrow keys. A v2 has recently launched with split spacebar support, 8kHz polling, and new Tikken switches, reigniting interest in the product line.

Pros

  • Wootility software is consistently rated best-in-class among all Hall Effect keyboards — features like rapid trigger, analog input mapping, mod-tap, and per-key actuation customization are unmatched by TMR or budget competitors
  • Rapid trigger enables near-instant key re-registration with configurable 0.1mm sensitivity, providing a real advantage in counter-strafing and movement-heavy FPS games like CS2, Valorant, and Fortnite
  • Long-term durability is frequently praised — multiple users report 2–3 years of daily use with zero hardware degradation or switch failure
  • GH60 layout compatibility makes it easy to drop into aftermarket aluminum cases (Tofu Redux, Alumaze, etc.) and swap switches (Gateron Magnetic Jade Pro, Magnetic Double Rails are popular upgrades)
  • 4-year warranty and responsive customer support stand out in the keyboard market, though some users note slow response times during peak periods
  • The 60HE v2 adds split spacebar, 8kHz polling, and Tikken switches out of the box — addressing the main hardware criticisms of the original

Cons

  • Budget HE keyboards like the Madlions 68HE ($34) and Mchose Ace 60 Pro (~$50) now offer similar Hall Effect performance, making the $175 Wooting hard to justify purely on specs alone
  • 60% form factor is a dealbreaker for many users — the lack of F-keys and dedicated arrow keys frustrates gamers who play titles that rely on function rows (CS2 radio commands, most MOBAs, coding)
  • Stock Lekker switches on the v1 are frequently criticized for wobble and subpar acoustics; most enthusiasts recommend replacing them immediately with Gateron Magnetic switches for a better experience
  • Customer support response times can stretch weeks to months during high-traffic periods — one user waited a month for a reply about the 80HE's weight specs
  • The PCB on the original 60HE does not support 8kHz polling or scanning, putting it behind the 80HE and newly released v2 on raw polling performance
  • TMR (True Magnetic Return) keyboards are emerging as a competing technology category that some users argue matches or exceeds HE performance, though software and build quality on TMR boards remain inconsistent

The Software Is the Product

Users who've switched to budget HE boards consistently come back to one conclusion: the hardware gap is small, but Wootility is in a league of its own. Rapid trigger, analog input mapping, and mod-tap are features no competitor has fully replicated.

Is a $34 HE Board 90% of the Way There?

The most active debate on r/keyboards isn't about Wooting vs. premium competitors — it's about Wooting vs. Madlions and Mchose boards that cost a fraction of the price. Reddit consensus: the performance gap is real but small, around 1–10ms; the software and build quality gap is more significant.

The 60% Layout Has a Body Count

Multiple owners report migrating to the 80HE after struggling without F-keys and dedicated arrow keys in daily use. The 60HE is an elite FPS tool, but Reddit is clear: if you do anything besides pure shooter gaming, the layout will eventually frustrate you.

As a user of many 60%'s I got the 80he. If you type, or will play anything other than geo dash in the next 5 years get the 80he. Its not that much bigger, and still has that small keyboard feel.

Do you use it for VERY competitive gaming or you're just a casual user? If yes then it is worth it but if not then you're better off with a custom keyboard instead.

All TMR keyboards have dogshit software, support and quality. TMR is just a 'gimmick' at the moment since you buy a HE keyboard for gaming in the first place.

It's worth only if you want the split space bar, otherwise I advise you to mod that razer keyboard. The split space bar eliminate some discomfort while playing some game where you need a lot of keys, for example it's really useful in RTS and MOBA games.

I've NEVER seen a negative review on a Wooting 60HE, and believe me, I watched like 10-15 reviews and comparisons before pre-ordering. This says a lot about the product.

I've had mine for 3 years and mained it every day since with no issues. 60% is the only size I'd go because I usually keep a busy desk.

The software is like nothing any other offers (and all they do is trying and not succeeding to copy it).

The 60hev2 is essentially adding some of the features from the 80he and even then the differences are neglible. Most ppl won't notice a difference with polling rate.

I think Wooting is totally worth it. But to be quite honest, Wooting won't make you play better unless you already do. It will refine your movement with a subtle finesse, making a small but meaningful improvement, but to expect to go from a noob to pro or something, forget it.

The real only difference between the 80he and the 60heV2 will be the ability to have split spacebar on the v2. If you dont care about having a split space bar and prefer 80% then 80he is your pick.

It's still a good keyboard, but worth it in 2025? Not really imo. Top-end price for terrible switches, mid performance and mid build quality. You can get way better keyboard for that price.

Unless you have another keyboard with extra keys the 80HE is just more practical. Not having Fkeys or any of the side keys is actually just SO annoying for a lot of scenarios and having those extra keys doesn't make he 80HE that big either. I've had it for ages now and I can confirm it is an amazing keyboard.

The board is well built, has excellent software, and active developers that seem invested in the product and responsive to the community. It's very customizable, so you can basically tailor the experience of using it to your exact tastes, so using the keyboard really is a pleasure.

Yes, it's still worth it. Yes, I've been maining for over 2 years. No, there's not really anything that competes, especially not when you factor in the Wootility software.

Maybe I'm a bit biased but I've been rocking the Madlions 68he for about 1.5 years now no issues does everything the wooting does but was only $34 so. Really can't see the point of buying a wooting anymore unless you just wanna spend the money.

The difference between a wooting and a budget HE keyboard is miniscule. It's like 1-10ms different. A wooting keyboard can only marginally improve this by 10ms maxed. For $130 more? It's not worth it unless your profession demands it.

I had it since 2023 may and ive changed the pcb and the plate and switches to an venom 60 he pcb and now its a night an day difference. I would recommend the 60 HE and you can upgrade specific parts down the line like the pcb switches case etc because its a gh60 layout and its compatible with a lot of options.

I've built over a dozen Wooting 60HE and 80HE boards, on top of the 50 or more other premium boards. In my opinion, it is still the best gaming board on the market. Not only are the boards topnotch, but their support, the Wootility customization software and the Wooting Community are better than any other you can find at this point in time.

Most tmr keyboards sound kinda shit, have bad software and bad support. It's just a different way of doing Hall effect, it's not 'better'. With Wooting you pay a premium for amazing performance, software, and support.

Still has the best software by a fair margin but other than that it's not a massive difference over other HE keyboards.

Wootings only selling point is software, and while theirs is very solid, it also lacks support for onboard macros, and has no extra features compared to competitors like epomaker, the hummingbird or venom he.

I got the OG 60HE and loved it, but I always missed those damned arrow keys. As soon as the 80HE was up for preorder I bought it and now main that. I really appreciate the arrow keys, the build quality, and the switches on it. I don't regret getting the 80HE and would highly recommend it!

Both here I rocked the 60 for awhile as the main driver and it fucked me hard with memorizing the fn layers. It took forever to break those habits. I started school again and got pissed on day 1 and got the 80. They're both great. I treat that 60 like a controller now it's pretty much just for gaming.

It is the best keyboard for competitive gaming that money can buy. If that's your use case then there is nothing better out there yet.

If you're a competitive fps gamer than the answer is yes, I went from hyper x alloy origin red switch to 60he, i can do really accurate and fast peek, the movement I do on 60he is just clean.

The Wooting 60HE has been my first HE and main keyboard for a year now. Since then I've collected quite a few HE boards from budget boards to boards that were praised for offering 'better' performance than the Wooting. Looking at raw performance, the Wooting is more than good enough.

Customer service is not top tier. They take weeks and months to respond. They are apparently swamped with support tickets and not enough staff. Software is top tier though.

They're only worth buying for their web software. But other companies have started to do that too.

I absolutely love my Wooting 60HE. The rapid trigger and customization in both hardware and software is amazing. The rapid trigger and mod tap both have excellent uses, and the Wootility software is easy and effective.

Will it magically make you a better player? No. Is it objectively the best gaming keyboard on the market? Yes. Iv used one, it does feel good to play on and I do think it raises your mechanical ceiling ever so slightly.

It's the best board on the market, but much like enthusiast mice it only makes sense if your skill is genuinely limited by your hardware. Or, if like me, you're just a hardware nerd.

Its a great gaming board but honestly its not gonna turn you into some kinda god, unless you're in that 1% elite bracket i wouldnt worry too much and if you're trying to be in that 1% i guarantee your keyboard isnt the bottleneck holding you back.

You're paying for the rapid trigger software which is fantastic but PCB, case, and keycaps are fucking dog shit... I've had keys die on MULTIPLE wootings (some were custom built too). Terrible craftsmanship and build quality but fantastic software.
