Summary

The Wooting 60HE v2 is a 60% hall-effect gaming keyboard that has landed to strong community approval, particularly among competitive FPS players who want Wooting's class-leading software in a compact, customizable package. The aluminum case, new Lekker Tikken switches, split spacebar option, and 8kHz polling rate are the headline upgrades over the v1, and most owners who have handled the keyboard in person describe a noticeably improved feel and sound profile right out of the box. The biggest debate on Reddit isn't about whether the board is good — it's about whether it's worth the premium over cheaper hall-effect alternatives and whether upgrading from a v1 makes sense. Enthusiasts consistently single out Wootility as a decisive advantage over TMR and clone competitors whose software is widely considered inferior.

Pros

  • Wootility software is consistently described as the best in the HE keyboard space — real-time rapid trigger customization, mod-tap, extensive key remapping, and a polished web-based interface that competitors have failed to replicate
  • New Lekker Tikken switches bring a closed bottom for improved acoustics and reduced stem wobble compared to the original Lekker switches, making the stock build feel notably more refined without needing immediate switch swaps
  • Aluminum case option delivers a substantial feel upgrade over the plastic v1 at a price point many consider competitive — users coming from modded builds describe the v2 aluminum as comparable to their custom setups
  • Split spacebar is the most frequently cited reason existing 60HE owners are upgrading — it enables ergonomic key remapping for gaming layouts and is unique to this form factor in the Wooting lineup
  • Friction-fit silicone mount system and modular PCB design make it compatible with popular third-party cases like the Tofu Redux, expanding customization options significantly
  • 4-year warranty and responsive support praised across multiple threads — notably longer than most competitors and backed by a well-regarded Discord community

Cons

  • Hard to justify upgrading from a v1 unless you specifically want the split spacebar — polling rate and rapid trigger performance feel essentially identical to existing owners in real-world use
  • Lekker Tikken switches still have noticeable stem wobble according to hands-on reviewers, which stands out as a disappointment for enthusiasts who expected the issue to be fully resolved
  • 60% layout is a real limitation for non-FPS use cases — missing F-keys, arrow keys, and navigation cluster frustrates users who game across multiple genres or need the board for productivity
  • Price-to-performance debate is real — TMR and clone HE keyboards at 40-50% of the cost offer nearly identical rapid trigger performance, leaving Wooting's premium justified mainly by software and support
  • Plastic case variant delayed at launch, forcing early buyers into the aluminum tier whether they wanted it or not — a pain point for budget-conscious buyers
  • No split spacebar option on the 80HE means users who want that feature are locked into the 60% layout with its key count trade-offs

The Split Spacebar Is the Whole Reason People Are Upgrading

Thread after thread tells the same story: existing 60HE owners who skipped the v2 say the split spacebar is the one feature that would have changed their mind. For everyone else, the v1 to v2 jump feels incremental at best.

Is Wooting's Premium Still Justified Against Cheaper HE Clones?

Reddit is divided. The performance gap between a $300 Wooting and a $50 clone HE keyboard is minimal in head-to-head tests — but the software, warranty, and support gap is massive. The question is which side of that trade-off matters to you.

Geometry Dash Players Are Buying This for Three Keys

One of the more surprising user segments showing up in v2 threads is rhythm game players — particularly Geometry Dash — who care less about FPS edge and more about reliable, low-latency inputs on a small board with remappable layouts.

Is the 60HE v2 superior to the 80HE in any way? Superior in being smaller by some centimetres. Anything else? Nah. Oh yeah, split space bar, if you care about that.

As a user of many 60%'s I got the 80HE. If you type, or will play anything other than one game in the next 5 years get the 80HE. It's not that much bigger, and still has that small keyboard feel.

All TMR keyboards have dogshit software, support and quality. TMR is just a 'gimmick' at the moment since you buy a HE keyboard for gaming in the first place.

It's worth it only if you want the split space bar, otherwise I advise you to mod that Razer keyboard. The split space bar eliminates some discomfort while playing games where you need a lot of keys — really useful in RTS and MOBA games.

Half of what you bought is the software.

The software is like nothing any other offers (and all they do is trying and not succeeding to copy it).

If you are unhappy with the Huntsman, upgrade. Otherwise why buy another keyboard? These things are expensive.

Purely just size preference.

It's worth it if you want the edge in the games you are playing, you wanna spend money on a keyboard where the company is transparent, great warranty and software. The keyboard is worth it if you want to customise it as much as you can. It's also worth it if you want all these in the 60% layout.

I think wooting is leading in HE. I wouldn't worry too much about tmr.

Just got my V2 in today. Comparing it to my 60He V1, it's vastly improved in pretty much every way. The feel, the quality, the sound: all worlds better than the V1. The friction fit pad makes a huge difference in the feel of the keyboard, and the new aluminum case is incredibly high quality.

If you're going from a 60he+ to an HE v2, I think it's not worth it, all you're paying for is a split spacebar and 8k polling.

Unless you have another keyboard with extra keys the 80HE is just more practical. Not having Fkeys or any of the side keys is actually just SO annoying for a lot of scenarios and having those extra keys doesn't make the 80HE that big either. I've had it for ages now and I can confirm it is an amazing keyboard.

I think 60v2 has slightly better switches and is easier to mod and that's about it, beyond that its just size preference. If you really need function keys the 80HE makes more sense.

Honestly, the software alone makes it enough for me. So much so id still argue for it even if the build quality wasn't good.

You are not going to see any advantage if you already have a HE keyboard. 8K polling isn't worth much when the original 60HE already had extremely low input lag. Really only recommendable if you have a hole in your pocket.

I actually canceled my order. I realized I'm still very happy with my custom Tofu 60HE and I really don't need another. Instead I bought a bunch of switches and Durock stabs and new keycaps.

8K is just pretty much gaming hype. It doesn't really offer you anything. It's just the latest buzz word to extract money from gullible gamers.

60HE size is really for those who play FPS games on PC. Even games like Arc Raiders and PUBG have benefits of using F keys. 60 size looks clean but its quite useless for most other tasks. Wait for 80HE v2.

If you dig smaller form factor and split space bar, then 60HE V2. Other than that, the 80HE is superior.

I replaced my 60HE with the 80HE because I missed the F keys and arrow keys.

I have both the 60HE and 80HE — I ended up loving my 80HE more. However my 60HE has not left my desk, it's earned its spot there.

I built the 60HE v2 in a Tofu Redux a few days ago. Once you've installed the module into the case, you can pick any of the four screw holes for grounding — the top right is most preferable as you'll use that part of the keyboard less. It's a very snug fit, the board doesn't move at all once inserted.

I have 60HE V1, 80HE and the only reason I bought 60HE V2 was because of the split spacebar. If your priorities are split spacebar and acoustics with aluminium case, V2 would be a great option. 8k polling rate sounds great on paper but in reality it is very difficult to have actually benefit from going above 1k polling rate for most games.

The only time I would say the v2 isn't worth it is if you are coming from a v1. If you decide to pick it up, I promise you won't regret it. The only piece of hardware I recommend like this.

Wooting build quality isn't really 'high quality'. They did make improvements with the v2 but the price doesn't make sense to me. They have good software but imo everything except the software isn't really worth the price. There are other options that also have 8k polling rate but if software matters to you then sure.

The V2 demolishes my 60HE in a Tofu case with foam hand-lubed switches and a tape mod. I know that's not exactly the best high-water mark, but it demonstrates a clear improvement.

Most TMR keyboards sound kinda shit, have bad software and bad support. It's just a different way of doing Hall effect, it's not 'better'. With Wooting you pay a premium for amazing performance, software, and support.

I've built over a dozen Wooting 60HE and 80HE boards, on top of the 50 or more other premium boards. In my opinion, it is still the best gaming board on the market. Not only are the boards topnotch, but their support, the Wootility customization software and the Wooting Community are better than any other you can find at this point in time.

Just received the Wooting 60HE V2 today. Going to preface this review by saying that this is without a doubt, the most impressive keyboard that I have ever tested. The sound, performance and utility software are all absolutely unmatched when it comes to competitive advantage and overall feel. It all feels polished and refined.

If it wasn't for the split spacebar I would have kept my 60HE. Wound up selling that to reduce the cost of the v2.

The Huntsman V3 pro does not have polling and scanning at 8k. While no one would be able to tell the difference, the Wooting solution with scanning and polling is technically better.

The 60HE v2 by default comes with the new Tikken switches. It also has an aluminum frame for $50 less than the zinc 80HE one.

I rocked the 60 for awhile as the main driver and it messed me up with memorizing the fn layers. It took forever to break those habits. I started school again and got pissed on day 1 and got the 80. They're both great. I treat that 60 like a controller now — it's pretty much just for gaming.

I got the OG 60HE and loved it, but I always missed those damned arrow keys. As soon as the 80HE was up for preorder I bought it and now main that. I really appreciate the arrow keys, the build quality, and the switches on it. I don't regret getting the 80HE and would highly recommend it!

I have both the 80HE with zinc case and now the aluminum 60HE V2, both with Lekker Tikken switches — the 60HE v2 sounds and feels great.

This exact question is the majority of posts in this sub. You won't feel the polling rate or appreciate the key difference. The real question is: do you want a split spacebar?

It's overpriced. Get it if you don't need that money. Otherwise, get a clone — it performs 98% the same.
