Summary

The Lenovo Yoga 9i 2-in-1 Aura Edition (2025) earns genuine praise from owners across creative, student, and professional use cases, with the OLED display and speaker system consistently described as standout highlights. Battery life is the most debated aspect — real-world results range from 5 to 13 hours depending on workload, screen brightness, and whether smart charging settings are optimized. The form factor wins fans with its sub-3-pound weight, 2-in-1 versatility, and more square 3:2-ish aspect ratio that suits both coding and media consumption. Most owners feel it delivers strong value in its segment, though some note that the Intel Lunar Lake chip's multicore performance trails Apple Silicon by a meaningful margin. Overall, this is a premium lifestyle ultrabook that hits its target audience well, as long as you go in with calibrated battery expectations.

Pros

  • 4K OLED display (3840x2400) with 120Hz and 100% DCI-P3 earns consistent praise — no screen-door effect reported, stunning brightness and color accuracy for creators
  • Speaker system with hinge-mounted soundbar for highs and bottom-firing woofers delivers unusually rich, spatial audio for a laptop — multiple owners called it the best they've heard on any portable
  • Lightweight at under 3 lbs (2 lbs 13 oz confirmed by owners), making it one of the lightest 14" 2-in-1s available with these specs
  • Battery life of 8–13 hours achievable under light-to-moderate loads with smart charging enabled and auto-refresh-rate (VRR) turned on — a strong showing for an OLED panel
  • Versatile 2-in-1 form factor with included stylus supports tent, tablet, and presentation modes — silent fan operation during everyday tasks like drawing, YouTube, and light coding
  • USB-C ports on both sides (including a right-side USB 3.2 port) add real flexibility for travel and hotel charging setups

Cons

  • Five extra Aura function keys to the right of the keyboard consistently draw complaints — users frequently misclick Delete, backspace, and the Lenovo power settings button, and the layout shifts the trackpad off-center
  • Multicore CPU performance lags behind Apple M-series chips by a significant margin — one owner switching from an M1 Pro MacBook explicitly noted it's not suited for heavy development, gaming, or intensive content creation
  • Real-world battery life under heavier loads can drop to 5–6 hours, and some users on a Yoga Pro 9i variant reported as low as 1.5–2 hours under intensive GPU workloads — results vary widely by configuration and usage
  • A firmware update (Q9CN25WW via Vantage) reportedly bricked at least one unit, and USB-C video adapter compatibility issues tied to Lunar Lake were flagged by multiple owners
  • Trackpad uses a traditional diving board mechanism rather than haptic — harder to click near the top, and some users report cursor drift while typing
  • At $1,200–$1,400 MSRP, the value proposition faces pressure from alternatives like the IdeaPad Pro 5i (similar internals, better battery, ~$999 on sale) and used ThinkPad X1 Carbon/Yoga units preferred by longevity-focused buyers

The Aura Keys Are a Real Problem

Owners across multiple threads flag the five extra Lenovo Aura function keys as a persistent usability issue — not just a quirk to get used to. Misclicking backspace, delete, and the Lenovo power settings shortcut is common enough that several users brought it up unprompted, and the layout shifts the trackpad off-center from the spacebar. It's a deliberate design choice Lenovo made for AI shortcut integration, and Reddit's verdict is split between 'adapts fine after a week' and 'still annoying months in.'

Best Windows OLED Under $1,300 — or Just Overpriced for What You Get?

The 9i Aura occupies an awkward price band: too expensive to be an obvious value win, not powerful enough to justify the cost over a MacBook Pro for demanding workloads. Owners who came from Surface devices or mid-range HP laptops love it. Those benchmarking it against Apple Silicon or hunting for a productivity workhorse feel the Intel Lunar Lake chip's multicore limits are a real ceiling. The OLED panel tips the scales for most display-sensitive buyers, but the IdeaPad Pro 5i undercuts it significantly with similar internals.

Artists and Light Creators Are the Sweet Spot — Heavy Devs Should Look Elsewhere

Multiple threads show a consistent pattern: artists, students, content consumers, and hybrid workers love this machine; engineers running heavy 3D modeling, machine learning workloads, or multi-threaded builds hit its thermal and CPU limits quickly. One owner doing 3D modeling noted battery dropped to around 6 hours even for that moderate task, and another running Starfield got near-60fps but with aggressive fan noise. The Yoga 9i Aura isn't trying to be a workstation — but Reddit suggests Lenovo's marketing doesn't always make that clear.

I stopped giving respect to Josh. He did not see the omega obvious battery drain issue on 2024 model. I have seen it and reported it to Lenovo who was aware of the issue and gave me 230W charger for free (EU has great consumer laws). Notebookcheck saw it and claimed it multiple times once their review was published.

What you have discovered is smart charging! To keep a lithium ion battery healthy for longer, many companies keep their charge at roughly 75-80%. This prolongs battery life especially when you're not using it, such as when plugged in. Note that this is a setting you can disable or enable in Vantage.

i own this laptop and it's a beast. i wanted a high res oled with 120hz and this is the best for the price. only improvement would be a haptic trackpad. x9 aura also looks good but it was 40% more expensive. very happy i got this over the macbook air 13" or the galaxy book5 pro, my other considerations.

I have a Gen 9 and have ordered a Gen 10. I will say I found the battery life on the Gen 9 to be good and the drain while plugged in to be minimal. I did get a Lenovo 230W charger off of eBay for $20 or so just to avoid thinking about the drain while charging issue altogether.

Sound is AMAZING for a laptop. Very bassy and loud, has some good spacial audio. Hinge soundbar is for higher frequensies and lower speakers are for low frequensies. I found that normal mode and presentation mode make the best spacial audio, yet tent and tablet modes are mushier

I think the Lenovo Yoga 9i Aura Edition 2-in-1 is one of the best all around laptops for 2025. As soon as you see it on display, it's STUNNING. I vividly remember looking at other laptops near this one which was on display and as soon as I saw it I was like "yep this is a winner". Its night and day. It's got that wow factor to it.

In general, both the Yoga 7i and the 9i 2 in 1s are nice machines and well spec'ed for the price. I wouldn't consider either a powerhouse, but the combination of versatility, light weight, excellent screens and long battery life are quite compelling.

it's not a bad laptop overall, yet fan noise is actually high pitched and they kick really strongly when even with low stressing tasks like extracting a rar file. In gaming you will get good results for a thin laptop. I tried Starfield in Ultra settings and I got almost 60fps, but expect very loud and strong fan noise when gaming.

Power issues FOR ME were mostly fixed by scrubbing the windows installation completely and doing a clean cloud re-installation. There were some strange driver issues with the dGPU and the iGPU conflicting and having significant power draw. The Tandem OLED screen in mine is a bit of a power hog but keeping the brightness down seems to help noticeably.

I get close to the 9 hours when just on YouTube, I usually have a few apps open in the background such as Spotify, discord, steam, and I always have wallpaper engine on. When doing my basics for schoolwork I get 7-8 depending on what apps I'm using, sometimes 6 when using 3d modeling software. As a disclaimer, I am a college student and I read a lot of text, so the screen is such a great thing to have.

i'm using the 2.8k version and the standby power with 120hz and max brightness is 10 watts, with some light load like chrome and vscode is 15 watts, so i think it can last 6 hours. 8 hours is possible if you use some optimizations like 60hz, low brightness, limiting the cpu in battery plan, or just bring a power bank.

Mine is on 60hz, low brightness, limited cpu, energy saver and still can't get solid 5hrs.

Check the settings — there's a setting about switching between integrated and dedicated graphics in the control center, turn it to automatic mode and it will block the dedicated GPU when using battery, it may help. And you can check if there's any program running in background, check the windows battery plan and lenovo battery plan both.

Keyboard is just comfortable. Nothing much else, extra row of Vantage keys (those to the right) do not create much of discomfort. Though sometimes I misclick delete and print screen buttons, just gotta get used to it.

Yes, I finally got mine. But the battery is already showing critical. What's up with that? I see this even after it sitting overnight in sleep mode. The Lenovo Vantage app shows it's at 100% charged. The first day or so it sat at 80% even while plugged in.

Open box excellent often goes below $1100 at Best Buy (currently like $1200).

I think that the trackpad is okay. It is a diving board design and is harder to click near the top. I use gestures and use tap to click so it's not an issue for me. Hopefully they put in a haptic in the next version. Mine has a third USB-C port on the right with USB 3.2. Mine came with a pen for drawing. This replaces an M1 Pro MacBook Pro 16 for me and the smaller size and weight is most welcome for traveling.

It is not that strong in multicore. That's the trade-off on strong battery life. I wouldn't do gaming, heavy development work or heavy content creation on it. You can compare the multicore scores to an M4 MacBook Pro and it won't be close. This works for me as I need strong single-core, native x86 and a 4k display.

I went from the 2023 Yoga 7i to this model and youre spot on with most of the review. I also weighed the laptop today and it weighs in at 2lbs 13 oz, which is amazing considering the 7i. There's a USB-C slot on the right hand side which is useful for me during travel as sometimes my charger is on the right side of the hotel bed and I can make use of that port for charging.

The extra keys to the right of the keyboard do actually get annoying. Especially coming from the 7i. I end up pressing that Lenovo power settings button often when I'm actually meaning to press backspace.

I bought the Yoga 9i 2 in 1, with the 1Tb HD, 16Gb ram, intel core 7 ultra 256 processor, and the laptop is the Aura edition. Received it about 2 weeks ago. I'm getting 10-13 hours of use on a charge, and I'm only charging it to 80% which is a setting that is supposed to prolong battery life. So far I'm pretty happy with it.

I've had surface devices (pro and books) and also have a yoga 9i (2024). The battery life on the surfaces was much better.

The trackpad is really precise, and has some useful gestures. I got the slightly lower resolution screen than the top tier version, but it's still OLED and 2800x1900, so really bright. I prefer the keyboard on the MB Pro. After having the Yoga 2in1 for a few months I've experienced general windows related glitches here and there, but still quite happy with the performance, battery life and form factor. The sound quality is actually stunningly good for a laptop.

i just got this laptop and it's amazing. not sure why it doesn't get more praise but i think people just don't realize how good it is. now that the yoga has 120hz display it's a pretty elite laptop. x9 aura might be better but it was going to cost 40% more for me.

I actually like it better than the Tandem OLED Yoga Pro 9i 16". Build quality and keyboard is better on this and the display in SDR mode is still very comparable.

I'm on my second one because the update to Q9CN25WW (thru Vantage) bricked my first one. Unfortunately, it doesn't work with any of the 3 old USB-C video adapters I have (known Lunar Lake issue?), so I've got to buy a new one.

I have this laptop and I can't stress enough how bad it is. The battery life is absolutely horrible. HORRIBLE!! Even with all energy saving options configured and brightness always at 1/4 strength. The trackpad sucks and is always glitching out, and the placement/size causes me to inadvertently touch it and move the cursor when typing. Previously had a 14 inch 2 and 1 HP Spectre and I loved it.

I got this laptop 2 weeks ago, but with the 3.2k screen and RTX 5060. It's fast, the screen and keyboard, and sound are amazing, the touchpad is mechanical and not haptic... not a big deal, plenty of USB ports. The battery could be better; it lasts around 3 hours when using YouTube/VS Code, but it is a 16-inch laptop. I would recommend this laptop to anyone, except the haters.

Purchased the 3.2K Tandem OLED + 5060 version when it was on sale at BestBuy. I'm also a developer, and have two 5k Samsung monitors that require the two TB4 ports this laptop comes with. Upgraded from a Samsung Book 3 Pro 360, and it's light years better. Screen is amazing, love the keyboard and trackpad. Heat and battery life are issues, but for what I do, it's been fantastic.

Screen is just chef's kiss. I thought taking 14 inch again would be too small for me, though more square form factor is actually very nice to code, draw and watch youtube. More appealing to the eye because you can see more.

The battery life is decent at around 11 hours for me, but kinda intensive stuff will reduce it to 8 ish. If you want a touchscreen and a better screen then the Yoga is a much better choice over a MacBook. But if you have no compatibility issues with MacOS, the MacBook is better.

This is the exact type of review I was hoping to find a week ago when deciding to pull the trigger to buy this. I did anyway and this review at least validates that I made a good choice for a 2 in 1. I was very heavily torn between this and a new gen HP Spectre x360.

The new CPU provides something like 6% better performance but uses 47% more power to do so. I can't imagine the new one is worth the higher price when you can get last year's refurbished with warranty for half the cost.

Performance is okay. The computer gets very hot under medium loads and honestly should have had a U processor inside. Technically it can run high demanding cpu workloads because of the 155h but don't do that. This PC thermally is just not built for it. The screen is amazing, better than I expected. I've owned oled screens before but 120hz nearly 3k resolution results in amazing picture quality.

I have both 24 and 25 y pro 16, expect like 3-5 hrs if used heavily and dgpu is involved in the tasks. I usually land 4.5-5 with 24 and heavy browsing, 25 lasts like 1 hr longer. You can get some 100whr power bank with usb c power delivery if you need extra time if travelling, i used my anker couple times with good success, gave me like 3+ hrs extra.

Well it's not worth it for the price unless you want a premium laptop. Rather get a lower model yoga.

I'm excited to try out the 9i aura! I definitely don't need an overkill laptop for sure, and "future proofing" is a bit of a fallacy anyway, considering the upgrades within 4-5 years.
