Summary

The Samsung Galaxy Book5 Pro 360 is a premium 16-inch 2-in-1 that Reddit's community views with cautious optimism — impressive on paper, genuinely excellent in daily use, but haunted by a well-documented screen cracking issue that has plagued multiple Galaxy Book generations. The Lunar Lake Intel Core Ultra processor delivers a meaningful leap in battery life over its predecessor, and the OLED panel consistently earns praise as one of the best on any Windows laptop. It's best suited for students, creatives, and Samsung ecosystem users who want the flexibility of a large-screen tablet with S Pen support. The elephant in the room remains Samsung's RAM availability: review units shipped with 32GB while retail buyers in most markets were stuck with 16GB — a move many users called outright misleading.

Pros

  • Exceptional OLED display — users with Samsung tablets (Tab S8/S9/S10 Ultra) say the Book5 screen holds its own or even looks slightly better, with vivid colors and a sharp 3K resolution that impressed photographers and content creators
  • Battery life is a genuine step up from the Book4 — real-world student usage reports 7–13 hours depending on workload, with Lunar Lake's efficiency being described as 'the biggest change they've made in the last 10 years maybe'
  • Thermal management is dramatically improved over previous generations — multiple owners report no painful heat during normal use, and only mild warmth under sustained load, unlike the Book4/Book3 which could get uncomfortably hot
  • 360 hinge and S Pen integration are practical, not gimmicky — photographers praise tablet mode for Photoshop and Lightroom editing, and the Wacom EMR pen has near-zero jitter compared to competing MPP 2.0 implementations
  • Speaker system with quad drivers and Dolby Atmos punches above its class — once Dolby Atmos is enabled in settings, users describe the audio as surprisingly good for a slim laptop, though MacBook Pro still wins overall
  • Solid build quality with Gorilla Glass 5 on the display — frame doesn't flex, and the hinge handles full 360° rotation without wobbling, though the screen wobbles slightly when touched in laptop mode

Cons

  • Screen cracking remains a real and recurring issue — users report spontaneous cracks appearing without any drop or impact, spanning Book3, Book4, and now Book5 360 owners; Samsung typically refuses warranty coverage, and screen replacements can cost 30,000 INR (~$360 USD) out of pocket
  • RAM availability was handled poorly at launch — Samsung sent reviewers 32GB units while most markets only sold 16GB/512GB configurations, making every early review effectively misleading; 32GB is now available through Samsung's business portal in some regions
  • Trackpad palm rejection is noticeably worse than MacBook and even Razer Blade — the oversized touchpad causes cursor jumping during typing unless palm rejection is manually tuned via Windows registry; a known issue across the 16-inch Galaxy Book lineup
  • Windows 11 Home on a 'Pro' laptop frustrates power users — graphic designers and professionals running Adobe Creative Suite note the lack of Windows Pro features, especially BitLocker and domain join, as a deal-breaker vs. Dell or Lenovo alternatives
  • Performance trade-off with Lunar Lake: single-core is improved but multi-core is slower than the Book4 Pro — demanding workloads and multi-threaded tasks may run better on last year's model; the Book5 is built for efficiency, not sustained heavy compute
  • 16GB RAM feels tight given Samsung's own bloatware overhead — multiple users report the settings app crashing, background Samsung processes eating into available RAM, and the 512GB base storage filling up quickly for creative professionals

The Screen Cracking Issue Is Real — And Samsung Knows It

Multiple owners across the Book3, Book4, and Book5 360 generations have reported spontaneous screen cracks with no physical impact. Samsung consistently declines warranty claims, citing 'user damage.' One user's screen cracked after 10 days; another's after 10 months sitting on a desk. The Book5 now uses Gorilla Glass 5, but the jury is still out on whether it actually fixes the underlying problem.

Samsung Sent Reviewers a Laptop You Couldn't Actually Buy

Every major review of the Galaxy Book5 Pro 360 was conducted on a 32GB RAM unit — a configuration that wasn't available for retail purchase in the US or most of Europe at launch. Actual buyers got 16GB. Reddit users were vocal about this being misleading, and it sparked a broader debate about whether any of the published reviews reflected the real product experience.

For S Pen Artists and Samsung Ecosystem Users, There's Nothing Quite Like It on Windows

If you're already in the Samsung ecosystem — Galaxy phone, tablet, buds — the Book5 Pro 360 slots in seamlessly in ways no competitor matches. Multi Control lets your phone mouse follow the laptop cursor, the S Pen has essentially zero line jitter compared to competing digitizers, and the OLED panel is the only large-screen Windows touchscreen without a visible digitizer grid. For that niche, it's the only real option.

It's the same shit I said the last 5 years... Samsung's 'PRO' model has Windows 11 Home on it - NOT 'PRO'. Samsung's 'PRO' model has only a 16GB option. As a 30+ year Graphic Designer running Adobe products, this is the killing stroke for me, and that's why I will always choose Dell or Lenovo over Samsung.

If you're careful with it, you don't have to worry at all. I have the pro 4 360 for over a year now and still no cracks or anything because I don't close the lid with force.

I bought one because of very massive promotion I managed to get. Sad that samsung is sending 32gb ram versions to reviewers, when it is not on sale anywhere in the world. That's misleading for sure.

For me the biggest reason to buy Samsung Book 4 Pro 360 was hands down the fact that it is the only touchscreen without the visible digitizer. Last year I bought a Lenovo laptop but ended up returning it only because of the digitizer. I work on many UI/UX designs, so that means working with a lot of grays, which means the digitizer is an absolute deal-breaker for me.

I've been using 360 designs for several years and it has been so convenient, I will never buy a non-360 form factor laptop again. I vastly prefer 360 because I don't have to look for a place to safely put the detached keyboard, 360 laptop is more stable and takes up way less desk real estate than a detachable with the keyboard and kickstand, the 360 can be stably adjusted to ANY angle.

I have the same one and the screen cracked after 10 months while sitting on a desk. And good luck with trying to get Samsung to cover this because, according to them, spontaneous screen cracking just doesn't happen on their laptops and must be from physical abuse. I would get the Samsung Care + package to give you some peace of mind. Otherwise, be careful when closing, charge with the lid open, make sure there is nothing between the screen and the keyboard when closed.

The new intel lunar lake processors are really the biggest change they've made in the last 10 years maybe. You should really look for the galaxy book 5 pro 360, even if it is 16" — just much better overall in all aspects.

I've had mine for almost a month, first galaxy book and I love it, specifically wanted a large screen Lunar Lake and they had a good discount, it cost £1300 with trading in some rubbish 8 year old laptop in. Screen is so good, I'm a photographer and have found the tablet mode with the S pen really amazing for photo editing, so much so that I have stopped using my desktop and 43" super altra wide.

For 150$ more than the 1tb 16gb ram book5 I can get an asus with 32gb ram, a better cpu and dedicated gpu, so idk.

I am using it for around 3-4 months, haven't come across any issues yet. Display is just amazing. For the price you are paying, I think this is one of the best all-rounders in the current market.

I've got that device. Had it for six months. No issues with the screen or build quality. Sometimes the Samsung settings app won't load. Generally rebooting fixes that. It's sturdy, is great for viewing content and has decent volume.

We have both in the house - I gave my GB4 360 i7 to my gf, and I got the GB5 360. I don't notice much performance difference in the two however the battery life is significantly better by about 30-40% from what I've seen so far. Saying that, I wouldn't be disappointed if I still had the GB4 360, it is a great machine. The large trackpad takes a bit of learning in terms of palm rejection. I'm used to my MBP where the accidental touch rejection is brilliant. The Samsung's isn't anything like that.

Had it for a week so far, I would say it's pretty great compared to my gaming rig. I use it mostly for work however I would say it's above decent for gaming. I have ran GTAV Online and HellDivers 2. Ran better than expected. The one con I would say is the cooling, it does get significantly hot towards the back near the fan. But only during gaming.

Plenty of reviews out there but noone seems to be addressing or commenting on the elephant in the room: the trackpad. It has been the Achilles heel of all Galaxy Book 16" models, unnecessary oversized and known to have horrendous palm rejection issues when typing. It has been reported by some users that, even though promised a fix with AI, the issue still persists and is possibly even worse.

The trackpad size isn't the issue. My Razer Blade 16 has just as massive a trackpad, and its actually centered, and it works wonder. The only difference is that it had a better, better than MacBooks matter of fact, palm rejection than Samsung's.

I have it and have travelled a lot with it. I have been relatively careful but have dropped it here and there and it's still fine. In terms of performance, the intel lunar lake chips are phenomenal for battery life and I can run Helldivers 2 at 70 fps, albeit at 1080p medium. The fans are quite quiet and the device only gets hot in gaming. I bought this nearly 8 months or so ago and I've had no issues.

I've had mine since January, it's my main work computer. I use it everyday at least 12 hours. I fold it and write on it at least twice per day and take it with me for walks and drives when I'm still in a meeting and need to step out. Fully folded and operating. While working, I mostly use it with a second screen connected through one of the USB C ports. No screen cracks yet, no performance issues, nothing. I don't know what else I can tell you but this is a great machine imo.

Turn on Dolby Atmos for the sound; it makes it much better immediately. My battery lasts for an entire day of university. The keyboard is much better than the MacBook Pro, in my opinion, but unfortunately, Samsung hasn't started using a haptic trackpad, so for the one time in history, the Apple fan will be correct about something. Other than that, the screen alone makes this laptop worth every single penny.

Book5 Pro if your main use case is browser applications, Photoshop, or other medium-strain hobbyist; or if you just prioritize battery life above all. Book4 Pro if your workload is more demanding, making you prioritize performance over battery life.

Are you worried with the chronic problem of the previous models? The screen cracking for no reason. According to reports, there is no exact time it happens. It could happen in a few weeks or a few months. Several people with Galaxy Book 3 and 4 with OLED screens reported this problem and Samsung's lack of concern in solving the problem.

For me, the audio is really good with Dolby Atmos and I sometimes just don't use my headphones because of how good it is. I didn't really tweak anything. The MacBook pro M4 is better, but these are really good. They also get quite loud.

I have carried it around a lot, my girlfriend gave her exams on my laptop, I used it for my college project and presentations, listened to music and I regularly watch movies and YouTube videos on it. I have had just a couple of issues with it — the laptop was randomly freezing on Windows 11 24H2, a revert fixed it.

I bought the Galaxy Book5 Pro non-360 and love it. Way too thin for me to trust it being 360.

SD pro 4 360 here... Has been a godsend and no issues for me. You'll be fine if you don't use it for intense stuff. Buy a nice protective pouch or something and don't close it with force, you'll be fine.

I set mine at 175% display scale. Some legacy UI components will still look blurry. I tried it at 100%, which is almost impossible to see. But I'm talking about OLD UI design that is still used in some installers, not something I experience in everyday use, 175% is as sharp to me as 200%.

Somewhat manipulative by Samsung to only offer a 16GB ram model, but then send all the "demo" models out with 32GB ram. Kind of like sending a corvette to road and track, rather than a yugo, for the yugo review.

I think other than brightness being higher on your Tab S10 Ultra vs my Tab S8 Ultra I believe its pretty much the same display. That said, my Book 5 Pro 360 screen looks a little better than my Tab. They are both incredibly good, but I like the Book 5 screen better.

My Book5 360 screen cracked spontaneously after 10 days. Samsung are refusing to accept that it happened and will not replace or repair it. There are many reports of this happening.

I own the Book 4 Pro 360, but dropped it in favor of the Asus Zenbook S16 HX365. I think the Asus is the overall better laptop, owing to 24GB of ram and just the HX365 Ryzen chip is a beast in performance in general. The keyboard also has way more key travel on the Asus, I found the Samsung one very shallow and mushy. The 360 does have a noticeably brighter OLED screen however, and the flip hinge does come in handy sometimes, as does the SPen support.

16GB RAM is less for this laptop. So many samsung bloatware running in the background. The samsung laptop connection with Samsung phone is ok but not good as Apple ecosystem.

I'm sorry but every review I've seen is worthless. None of them have the same Core Ultra 7 gen 2 with 16gb which is the only one you can buy. All the review units shipped with 32 gig and some of them have the Core Ultra 5. So none of the review units actually indicate how the retail units will work.

I've had my 16GB version for a few months now. TLDR: Generally, I am disappointed to say the laptop is not amazing. Certainly doesn't make me want to stay within the Samsung ecosystem. I had a version of this from a few generations ago and it doesn't feel like nearly the upgrade that it is on paper. It works fine once settings are changed to high performance, but certainly nothing to write home about. The Samsung software is buggy and often doesn't work correctly.

To everyone here doubting the reality of GalaxyBook screens cracking for no reason, believe it! It is a very obvious manufacturing defect that has been here for EVERY generation of these machines! I went through it with my Gen 1 Pro 360 15" in the first couple months after I bought it. Samsung replaced the screen and since then it's been fine for 3+ years.

Please dont buy this. I beg you. The screen cracking issue is not just a rumor and it is very real. I got two very big cracks on my screen, I have never dropped this laptop but the screen got these big cracks automatically, I don't even use this laptop rough. The service center is not gonna help you and gonna charge like 30k inr.

Warning... DO NOT BUY SAMSUNG BOOK LAPTOPS...utter failure due to over heating as they lack sufficient exhaust or cooling of the motherboard and the HDD/SDD. To give a slim laptop, samsung had absolutely neglected the heat management in their laptops. I'm too having the heavy heating issue and forced to shutdown within 5 mins of working over it.

Sounds very good for a windows laptop. It's a 76Wh Battery which is pretty big compared to the average 48 to 54Wh battery of some lower to mid range laptops.

I have a Samsung book 4 edge for a year now, it is going with me everywhere and I've never noticed anything bad, cracked screen or lags. I really think it is the best laptop I've ever found and that is the reason why I just bought this book 5 pro 360 yesterday (32gb 1 TB SSD on Amazon US). I had Dell Inspiron, HP Envy, Lenovo 7i and 9i, MacBook Air 15 M3, MacBook Air 13 M4, and a Lenovo 7i OLED from 2025, but I always go back to Samsung.

For me it was an absolute opposite. I was hoping to have 2 in 1, instead of buying 2 devices. Overpaid near 400 eur for 360 option just to discover that windows in tablet or touch is 100% not usable.
