Summary

The Endgame Gear OP1 8K is one of the most consistently praised wired gaming mice on Reddit, celebrated for its combination of low click latency, 8K polling rate, top-tier build quality, and a shape that works well for claw and fingertip grip users with small to medium hands. The community broadly agrees that it represents the best overall package in wired mice right now, though shape remains highly subjective and the narrow profile rules it out for palm grippers or those with larger hands. The v2 iteration added the 3950 sensor, a dustproof scroll encoder, and slightly refined skate adhesive, earning it strong early adoption. Customer support from Endgame Gear is frequently highlighted as a genuine differentiator, with most QC issues being handled quickly. While the 8K polling rate debate rages on, many users buy the mouse for everything else — and it tends to deliver.

Pros

  • Lowest measured click and sensor latency of any mouse on the market, with SR Latch debounce and SPDT Speed Mode enabling near-instant actuation — praised even by users who don't care about polling rates
  • Hot-swappable main switches are a standout feature rarely found in competitors, allowing switch customization and replacement without soldering
  • Build quality described as 'second to none' — top-tier coating, flexible angled cable that feels wireless with a bungee, and solid PTFE skates out of the box
  • Lightweight software (no background processes, no kernel-level access) that launches fast and closes fully — a stark contrast to bloated software suites from Razer or Logitech
  • Strong customer support with fast RMA and replacement parts — Endgame Gear regularly cited as going above and beyond for defective units
  • V2 upgrades (3950 sensor, dustproof scroll encoder, better skate adhesive) addressed the main complaints of the V1 without changing what made the original great

Cons

  • Cable durability is a recurring issue — multiple users report fraying or disconnection failures within 2–5 months, and replacement cables are often out of stock
  • Small, narrow shape is polarizing: great for claw/fingertip with small-to-medium hands, but users with 20cm+ hands or palm grip find it cramped and fatiguing
  • 8K polling rate causes game-specific stutters in titles like Fragpunk, Marvel Rivals, and League of Legends — many users drop to 2K or 4K as a workaround, making the headline spec less useful in practice
  • Main clicks require more actuation force than many lightweight competitors, which some users switching from Pulsar or Razer mice find noticeably heavier
  • Scroll wheel quality is inconsistent — some units have mushy or sticky scroll clicks, and M3 double-click issues have been reported across both V1 and V2
  • Costs more than comparable Chinese alternatives (Scyrox V6/V8, VXE Mad R Major+) that are wireless, similarly specced, and lighter — the premium is mostly for shape, build trust, and support

The 8K Polling Debate Won't Die

Reddit is deeply split on whether the OP1 8K's headline spec matters at all. Skeptics cite studies showing no perceivable benefit above 2K, while believers swear they feel it — and neither side is moving. Most users end up on 2K or 4K anyway due to game compatibility issues.

The Cable Is the Achilles Heel

For a mouse praised as near-wireless in feel, the actual cable is its weakest link. Disconnects and fraying within months of purchase are common enough to be a recurring thread topic, and Endgame Gear's stock of replacement cables is frequently depleted.

Shape Is the Real Reason People Stay

Strip away the polling rate marketing and what keeps users on the OP1 8K is the shape. The narrow profile, low front, and forward-placed sensor create a fingertip and claw grip experience that many describe as genuinely unique — something no spec sheet fully captures.

There's something weirdly endearing in having this Windows 95 looking ass config tool instead of a fancy memory hog with pretty pictures for setting a few sliders and magic numbers.

There's no best mouse, as it's always very subjective. But the reason it is so shilled is: Flawless 8K Polling, Flawless Click Latency Implementation, Top Tier Click Feel, Top Tier Coating, Personally Goated Shape (Subjective), Good Skates Out The Box, Good Cable For Wired, Good Scroll, Nice & Simple Software, Great Support. So what I'm basically getting at is the overall package is very good especially for the price.

So interesting seeing people claim they can 'feel' the lower latency lol.

good price, insane quality, very good firmware, very good support. The best is subjective, but beating egg is very hard.

I have a very hard time believing people that say they notice a difference. I have a relatively fast vrt (consistently score sub 140ms on human benchmark) and I run a 360hz oled display. I run my mice at 2k polling rate and even then I barely notice any difference in tracking smoothness and zero difference in click latency.

You open it, set your options, and close it. It's great. It doesn't run in the background, requiring kernel level access and messing with performance. It launches quickly, has a tiny file size, I have zero complaints about software like this.

In this day and age I don't get why a wired mouse gets that much praise. I'm not saying it's a bad mouse but all those mouth watering reviews coming from all directions sound and smell fishy.

Personally I use: Motion sync off, 8k hz (Lower this to 4k or even 2k if game stutters when turning. This can happen even on high end pcs and are more dependent on the game.), Slamclick filter on, Motion jitter filter off (Only necessary if on higher dpi), Spdt mode I use speed mode. It is a bit faster than off.

Not having another device to charge for me is priceless. I hate charging things in general.

Not sure why the hate in this thread towards the mouse/company. Shouldn't we as a community be promoting top of the line performance and customer service from brands? Instead of pushing Chinese brands that you have to order from Aliexpress and feel like thin abs plastic, with ZERO customer service.

Yep everything feels great but the clicks are a little heavy. All of them.

Everything on the op18k is great, there are zero faults with the mouse (aside from the wire) if you like the shape. I personally have an op18k and while i'm not really the biggest fan of the shape it's probably the best built mouse i've ever had, and being 50 grams makes it even more impressive.

I have one. Overall best mouse I've ever used. Inputs feel crisp on it, clicks feel perfect, the wire is angled upwards, so it doesn't bother me at all and the coating is the best I've ever felt. The shape however isn't for me. I can use it comfortably for a while, but the sloped hump at the back eventually starts to fatigue my hand with the way I grip it.

Speaking solely about the performance, it (along with the xm2 8k) is the best out there right now. Of course this means nothing if you hate the shape. Plus the op1 8k has swappable main switches, which is a massive plus and should be a thing on every mouse.

8k polling is a gimmick, in terms of practicality. If you can't get good at 1k, you won't get good at 4k or 8k. Sure, on paper 8k is insane, but not fully physically perceivable. It might feel somewhat smoother and maybe slightly more responsive, but that's negligible in practical use if not borderline placebo. Stick to the OP1we or OP14k so you have a solid mouse without burning a hole in your wallet.

Way more accurate than anything else out there. Op1 8k is OP in FPS games. GPX2 or viper v3 don't come even close. Speed mode is actually crazy fast if you have a good reaction time but you don't even need that. 30k elo in CS2, you feel it.

My OP18k's scroll wheel is really bad lmao. It makes me jump a lot in CS accidentally, at least once a match when I'm just like walking around or something. I dont think the scroll wheel is that great of quality.

Loved almost everything about the OP1 8K, especially build quality and coating. But my unit had a very stiff M3 button and double click issues. I had similar problems with the XM2 8K M3 button, which led me to believe that Endgame Gear mice have QC issues with the scroll wheel/M3.

It's one of those shapes I'd love in a way bigger size. Everything else felt great when it arrived, just not nearly big enough, it's especially narrow in the sides.

Build quality and shape make the OP1 8K worth the premium over cheaper wireless alternatives.

If you don't want wireless it's the only corded mouse I would even consider.

It's a little too narrow for me and i despise back humps (its sorta manageable ill give it that its the only back hump mouse i could ever use again). Coating is great, clicks are good and you can swap them out, latency numbers, overall just a good out of the box experience.

Yes. SR Latch debounce is too good of a technology for mechanical switches. Plus the build quality of the OP18k is second to none. I didn't even buy it for the polling rate.

I have both Viper V3 Pro and OP18k. The OP18k has this instantaneous feel to it that I don't get from the Viper. I feel that the insane maneuverability of the shape plus it just being a wired mouse with a great sensor implementation is reason it gives me this feeling of extra responsiveness.

8k fuks up the frames in a lot of games. Tried it anyway and it made apex / league unplayable because of choppy frames. Useless overhype imo.

The switches felt like I was just thinking about shooting and it shoots before I even press them the first few days were trippy getting used to, probably 20ms less delay. And I wasn't even on a bad mouse, had a Viper Mini before.

I am an op1 fanboy and truly believe it's the best mouse on the market and am one of those people that thinks I can tell the difference with hz and latency. With that being said, in game I almost notice zero difference from 1k hz to 8k and click latency. I notice those things more like scrolling around my browser and messing with it.

It makes a pretty big difference imo. Very noticeable when your games start to run and respond like shit because they don't support 8K polling. Definitely was different.

My OP1 V2 had yet another failed cable soon after purchase. Endgame Gear unfortunately has no stock on replacements cables. Unsure if the gauge of the cable is the issue or some sort of power delivery issue. Just seems really odd for the cable to break or be so fragile.

It's all the upgrades people wanted from the V1. Dustproof mouse wheel encoder, 3395 upgraded to 3950, better glue on the mouse feet, smaller and lighter weight (1.5g lighter) PCB for modding.

I really wanted to love this mouse but I can't click the buttons with a claw/ft grip, the mouse buttons are too far, and end prematurely. Also no macros is a deal breaker.

Unfortunately, some games can't handle 8K. Marvel Rivals stutters beyond 4K, but I don't think you'd notice anything above 2K really.

I really hope it doesn't have the cable issues that the first one had. I had one for about a year and then it started disconnecting, so i asked for another cable from EGG and they sent one in a week (pretty fast) but then that cable started disconnecting after like 3 months.

Something about EGG mice that is just so smooth. Shapes aren't the best but something about the handling, maybe it's just the sensor, but it feels great.

I've been having trouble with the v2 at 400dpi in CS2 — it was actually sitting around 360-370dpi. I just bumped my in-game sensitivity up and it felt better, but it's a real issue with the 3950 sensor at low DPI.

From techpowerup reviews on both models the V1 has about 6% higher dpi deviation than the V2 so it will feel noticeably faster in game, this could be contributing to the feeling you have.

I got one recently coming from the Superlight and MZ1 wireless mice, this feels a bit like cheating. It just felt like every time I tried clicking on someone's head in counterstrike I got a headshot. I had great in-game performance and can't wait to play more.
