Summary

The Finalmouse UltralightX is a carbon fiber wireless gaming mouse that has built a devoted following among competitive FPS players who prioritize weight above all else. Available in three sizes (Cheetah/Small, Lion/Medium, Tiger/Large), it weighs between 31–39g depending on variant and targets players in tac shooters like Valorant and CS2. Community sentiment is sharply divided: hardcore mouse enthusiasts genuinely love the feel and wireless performance, while a vocal majority criticizes Finalmouse's business practices, QC inconsistencies, and premium pricing relative to alternatives. The mouse's browser-based software, included high-polling dongle, and ultra-light carbon construction are seen as genuine strengths, but side flex issues, scroll wheel problems, and weight discrepancies between advertised and actual figures are recurring complaints across multiple batches.

Pros

  • Extreme weight reduction is genuinely noticeable — at 31–39g across variants, users consistently report it as a meaningful upgrade coming from mice in the 55–63g range
  • Wireless performance is class-leading: TechPowerUp testing showed lower latency wirelessly at 1000Hz than wired, surprising even skeptical reviewers
  • Browser-based configuration tool praised as 'a game changer' — no bloatware, works on any OS, and the dongle doubles as a battery indicator
  • High-polling dongle included in the box, where competitors like Logitech charge extra for equivalent hardware
  • Clicks are mechanical and field-replaceable — users swap in Huano blue shell/green dot switches to tune feel, a flexibility optical switch mice don't offer
  • Stock PTFE skates are fast and smooth out of the box; carbon fiber surface provides a distinctive in-hand texture that many users prefer over painted shells

Cons

  • QC is a persistent problem across batches: left click grinding, side flex requiring tape fixes, scroll wheel misfires, and sensor rattle have all been documented, with some users receiving replacement units with the same issues
  • Actual weight consistently measures heavier than advertised — retail Cheetah units weighed 36g on user scales vs. the listed 31g, with the Tiger coming in at 37–38g vs. the advertised figure
  • Battery life is shorter than flagship competitors at higher polling rates — users report 5–6 days at 4K polling vs. weeks on a Logitech G Pro X Superlight at 1000Hz
  • Drop-based availability contradicts Finalmouse's own promise of continuous production — the original ULX disappeared from their site within months, and new variants sell out in seconds, enabling a scalper market
  • At $189–$200+, alternatives like the Lamzu Maya, WLmouse Beast X, and Pulsar X2 offer comparable or lower weight at more consistent availability and better warranty support
  • The honeycomb side holes accumulate dirt and make cleaning substantially harder than a solid shell mouse, and the holes can cause discomfort at the pinkie during extended sessions

The Scroll Wheel Tax

Across multiple batches, the ULX's scroll wheel has been the most cited hardware failure point — misfiring from vibration, developing grinding over time, and requiring either contact cleaner or physical workarounds. Finalmouse eventually addressed this in software for later revisions, but early batch owners were left to fix it themselves.

Great Mouse, Terrible Company

The most consistent Reddit consensus isn't about the hardware — it's that Finalmouse makes genuinely competitive mice wrapped in one of the worst purchasing experiences in the category. Broken promises on continuous production, drop sales that favor bots and scalpers, and a fanbase that's alternately described as a cult make many buyers reluctant even when they like the product.

Who Actually Buys the ULX in 2025?

The ULX has evolved into something of a collector's item — users openly admit owning multiple copies as 'investment pieces' more than daily drivers. Competitive players who can source one at MSRP tend to love it, but the broader community increasingly points to the WLmouse Beast X, Lamzu Maya, or Pulsar alternatives as the rational purchase for anyone who doesn't want to fight a drop queue.

I am a mod for finalmouse but this will not affect my review. Proceeds to give finalmouse the benefit of the doubt in every part and gives a review that sounds more like a promo/brand product announcement lmao

And the original ULX still can't be in continuous production like they said A YEAR later, but they still continue to release new mice that are going to be sold out in seconds, never produce more, and continue to do the same with a new line of mice. It works but it's the people that allow them to make good sales and resell it for double the price…

No reason to get this if you already have a ULX, just get some grip tape. If you're part of the 1% of people who have scrollwheel issues while gaming I think the new fixes are software implemented so you won't have to get this new mouse

On paper, this mouse is phenomenal. However; due to FM having a very poor reputation for QC. I'm not gonna even consider this until it's been out long enough for any issues to become apparent.

finally solid sides, they fixed the problem they made, I don't like the feel of tape because I death grip and end up pushing the glue inside.

I like the solid sides and that they added a TTC gold encoder. Wish they would've added rubber to the scroll wheel.

I won't believe the 30g claim, until I see peoples' scales on a retail copy. The difference is solid sides, and 8K. No need for a side-grade.

Very impressive wireless performance actually. Surprised to see that it has lower latency at 1000Hz wirelessly than it does at 1000Hz wired.

Upgrades seem good but if you already have one then this ain't worth it.

Even if they manage to get QC under control the company is ran by children who don't understand customer service. They have years to go before they can survive in the "mass market" of general consumers.

Lol at that price point just for higher numbers on paper that you won't feel is never worth it. What you're paying for this product is brand recognition like all Finalmouse mice.

same overpriced mouse with minor changes. I think their new products are decent (still not worth the retail price in my opinion) and the improvements are good, but the company and fanbase are a little off-putting. I don't think anyone should be that invested into any brand, it honestly feels like a cult sometimes.

Finalmouse announcements are tricky, I still dont know why people trust in them after so many failures to the community. 5 years ago they was #1 but nowdays you have many alternatives with better feedback, price, stock and easy buy.

Are finalmouse mice ever in stock, or is it mostly vaporware? Because in the time I've known that company I've never seen their mice in stock. Maybe for a few seconds lol

They just make everything "limited edition". It sells out in 30 seconds then scalpers post them for 3x the price and hype nerds buy them up.

I basically have all of the top mice and it is my main atm. He brought up all the negatives, which really aren't bad. I think he was exactly on point and unbiased.

Besides the flex on my copy (which was remedied by using their suggested fix in the repair section of their discord), my ULX otherwise has been pretty solid. I also noticed that the sensor and latency is more responsive than other mice i've tried. Haven't had any wireless or sensor issues yet.

With the ULX, you can't just stick the dongle in the back of the PC unless you buy your own tiny patch cable. With the GPX or my old G305 I never noticed any issue just sticking it in the back — it never disconnected, I never lost any clicks, movement was always smooth.

OptimumTech showed that the ULX actually has lower click latency on 1k then it does on 2k/4k. Save yourself the battery life and stick with 1k polling rate.

39g really is a significant weight reduction. Clicks feel light, crisp, and easy to spam. Side buttons feel great too. Weight balancing is good. Browser-based software is a game changer. Stock skates are fast and smooth.

Turning off the store for several weeks for this is welm. They are still not committed to continuous production of the ulx. They are still doing same as usual and producing tweaks and improvements. On one hand I'm ok with this. On the other hand it's dumb I can't just buy whenever

Wild to see that the Ultralight is faster than the G403. I'll probably never own one, but it's still exciting to see how they are definitely worth the price based on the raw performance

i will say the ULX competition is worth it over the previous ULX, as far as strictly performance/feel. but every different colorway yeah its just a collectors thing. although its like every colorway is better than the last.

When you have the same QC issues similar to Razer or at times even worse...QC of Finalmice products doesn't warrant the high cost. As usual an easy fucking skip.....

Nothing new besides the colors and people still hype it up to the skies like its a miracle, i've fallen for the fomo myself and own 3 finalmouse. At this point i look at them as collectors items and nothing else.

Great mouse but I've had to open it up a few times to attempt to address various issues. Running contact cleaner through the scroll encoder does solve the problem, but it is a risky move because you only want to spritz a tiny amount on it, or at least wait for things to dry off until you power it back on.

I ordered it in December 2023, and it arrived in Serbia in April 2024. There were no customs or taxes when it arrived, which was a huge relief. The employee I corresponded with was really helpful and quick to respond. Seems like someone was doing a little bit of false advertising though — my Cheetah weighed noticeably more than advertised.
