Summary

The Logitech Signature M650 is a budget-friendly silent wireless mouse that earns genuine praise from productivity users, office workers, and casual gamers who prioritize quiet clicks above all else. Reddit sentiment is broadly positive, though a vocal minority reports ergonomic discomfort — particularly with ring finger placement on the caved-in right side — and some units have shown left-click degradation over time. The mouse comes in standard and large sizes, with a left-handed variant, making it one of the few affordable options catering to southpaws. Battery life gets consistent praise, with users reporting over a year on a single AA. Overall it's regarded as a solid daily driver for non-demanding workloads at a price point that's hard to argue with.

Pros

  • Silent main clicks are genuinely impressive — multiple users describe them as near-inaudible, making this a top pick for shared offices, late-night sessions, or recording setups
  • SmartWheel scroll is a standout feature, praised for fast, smooth document and spreadsheet navigation — some users prefer it over the MX Master 3S wheel
  • Excellent battery life: several users report 12+ months on a single AA battery with daily use
  • Logi Bolt dongle supports multiple Logitech devices on one receiver, reducing USB port clutter
  • Works reliably on cloth, wood, and crystal surfaces; USB receiver connection is reported as stable and lag-free for office tasks
  • Available in three variants (standard, large, large left-hand) — one of the rare affordable ambidextrous options for left-handed users

Cons

  • 125Hz polling rate makes it unsuitable for fast-paced FPS gaming — users report a sloshy, unresponsive feel in shooters compared to dedicated G-series mice
  • Bluetooth mode draws consistent criticism for lag and instability; most users recommend sticking to the Logi Bolt receiver
  • Ring finger ergonomics divide opinion sharply — the symmetric caved-in design causes wrist strain and discomfort for some users after extended sessions, leading to returns
  • Side rubber grips degrade over time: at least one user reports the texture smoothing out and peeling away after 1.5 years of use
  • Left-click issues have surfaced in longer-term ownership, requiring harder presses or multiple clicks to register
  • No multi-device Easy-Switch support and no USB-C charging (uses AA battery) — both cited as frustrating omissions compared to the pricier M750

Silent clicks, noisy debate

The M650's SilentTouch clicks get near-universal praise, but the mouse's ring finger ergonomics spark genuine disagreement on Reddit — some users returned it the same week, others have clocked two years without a complaint.

Does the M650 beat pricier Logitech mice?

Several users comparing the M650 head-to-head against the MX Anywhere 3S and MX Master 3S found themselves preferring the cheaper mouse for precision pointing and comfort — though power users doing multi-device or illustration work still reach for the Master series.

The OSRS mouse community found their answer

A surprisingly consistent theme across threads: casual gamers — particularly Old School RuneScape players — specifically sought out the M650 for its silent clicks so they wouldn't disturb partners at night. It's become a niche cult pick for click-heavy, low-intensity gaming.

Thank you for this absolutely useless review, with many missed points. Just ordered mine and can't confirm any of what you're saying. To everyone reading this - ignore the review and get the mouse if you want, it's a good quality mice, end of story.

My M650 is symmetrical and in my opinion, the rubber textured sides feel VERY nice in the hand. The middle-mouse click/scroll is also very good and has a nice tactile feel to it. The ONLY thing I HATE about the mouse is how easily it'll accidentally click.

The symmetrical design makes it so your ring finger rests in a curved surface that makes it incredibly uncomfortable, at least for me. I ended up returning the mouse.

I got one from my job for my work laptop, and liked it enough to buy one for my personal laptop. Couldn't be happier.

M650 can't be connected to multiple devices, while I have the easy-switch on my keyboard I have to use another mouse on my second laptop. How did I miss it? Can't they just combine 3 of them to have the comfortable form of M650, thumb wheel from Master 3S and type-C recharging.

I also love it - use it for multi tabling online poker, full time. Sure took a day or 2 to get used to (I have a big wide hand), but now im liking it a lot.

I have the M650 at work, and MX Master 3S at home. I do like using the MX Master more, but I really got to give it to the M650 for using good old AA batteries (and I use cheap rechargeable ones). Internal batteries just make any tech a waste, unless you're capable enough to replace them.

I only buy Logitech anymore. Razer mice are garbage. They are fun when new, but they always wear out within a year or two for both me and my bf. And for a mouse in those price ranges, that's just not acceptable.

I bought it yesterday, and the main buttons are silent and the scroll wheel is smooth. The scroll wheel button is a little more difficult to press than on my previous mouse, but that's okay. It has a USB bolt receiver, which helps if you have multiple Logitech devices. The side buttons are a little loud compared to the main buttons. I bought it for 35 EUR.

Its amazing bro i managed to get it for 29 AUD. Silent main clicks, amazing scroll wheel. Side buttons are a bit louder but they feel sturdy. Nice mouse overall.

Its actually good for productivity tasks and manuring thorough the code lines. One con i found is its not as smooth to move (on mousepad) as compared to my G402. man G402 just glides with no effort at all, your hands dont get fatigued moving the mouse. Scroll wheel on m650 l is just so much superior, it makes scrolling though PDFs and websites a breeze.

I agree, the accidental clicks are the only downside in my opinion but other than that; this has been probably the best mouse I've ever used. The M650 is easily the best bang for your buck mouse out there and the silent click is insanely underrated.

Accidental clicks are very annoying compared to my previous MS mouse. I want to be able to rest my fingers on it without having to worry about clicking the darn thing. The other thing I don't like is how loud the other buttons are, i.e. side and mousewheel buttons. If it's supposed to be silent, make sure all buttons are!

M650 has terrible ergonomics and strain on wrist after half a day of use. I've got M590 (super mouse), M720, G102, M331 and this is the only one that kills my wrist. Avoid M650/M650L.

I can confirm that. I got M650 from the company since I really hate the clicky sound. The ergonomics of M650 is the worst I've ever used.

I just bought this mouse overpriced, thinking I was getting a good mouse and I feel totally ripped off... 40€/50€ mouse with only 125hz polling rate? Is logitech stuck in 1999? Even an 8€ wireless Qilive has 250hz of polling rate.

I use this mouse daily and sometimes I even use it for gaming if I'm too lazy to use my gaming mouse. All I can say is that it's the best silent mouse for this price range. I've never had to change the battery since last year!

The bluetooth mode is just the biggest piece of dogshit, its just laggy and I think that logitech only included it to write it on the box. For bluetooth users, I would not recommend it. But on the other side its pretty good for the price, the nearly no bumper scrolling wheel, the silent as well as the finger rest are very comfy and high quality.

Just got one, it's way better than my office mouse, doesn't have any mushiness or off balance. It's on par with my now dead corsair gaming mouse. In fact better, because I don't have to contend with the wires anymore.

I have this mouse and it's great, there's nothing at all wrong with it. It's comfortable and works perfectly, and the mouse wheel is good.

I have been using this M650 for several months now. Apart from the weight balance issue, the mouse is fine.

I find the clicking too quiet for my liking. There's a balance of not too loud or not too quiet required. Maybe some like a quiet click for an office space, but I can barely tell if I have clicked it at all because I can barely hear it.

I came looking for answers because now a left click issue is developing. I either have to click it harder or more clicks than necessary to complete a task. I have small hands and it seems to fit well enough. Other than the left click issue, I have no others with it.

I agree that the wheel is just too sensitive. Unless you lift away your finger right after you scroll it will often jump slightly back as if it had a mind of its own deciding where actually it wants to settle. Annoying. I'll go back to my G305 that has a more comfortable grip and much better wheel control for my taste.

Late to the party: tried both M650 and M650L. Wheel was bad on two M650 that I tried, and great on two M650L that I tried. I quite LOVE the M650L smartwheel, better than that of the MX MASTER or MX ANYWHERE.

The only real problem here with this mouse that you didn't mention is that it doesn't sit flat, there is a very slight wobble to it.

Its performance with USB is good enough for gaming but it isn't designed for it. You need a G mouse if you want to have a Logitech mouse for gaming, for better response times and more options for gaming. If you are not playing games which needs quick mouse movements, M650 is good enough though.

I'd say one of the best options for lefties. It's heavier than my G Pro, but ergonomics are quite good, and it's quite big.

Agree 100% the M650 is amazing and a bargain. I returned my Mx Anywhere 3S because it was not comfortable - too flat and small. Ironically the M650 is about the same size but much more comfortable. My only gripe I would have preferred USB-C recharging rather than AA battery.

I've had this for about a year and a half. The mouse buttons are great, so is the SmartWheel, but the rubber on the sides is tearing off REALLY BAD. At first the grippy texture started to get smooth, but now the spot where my thumb is has torn away to a plastic layer that makes the finger slide. Very uncomfortable. It was too expensive for how long it lasted me.

I like this mouse because of the clicks and scroll wheel feel, however 125 Hz polling rate means you can get stuttering when turning in FPS games, and for some reason the wireless connection drops out when I spin the scroll wheel fast.

I tried using it for gaming and everything just feels off. It feels like the sensor misses a lot of the fast motion and the end result makes the game feel sloshy and unresponsive. I really wish Logitech made a G series gaming mouse with the silent click feature. I had hoped the m650 would be perfect for streaming so that the mouse clicks aren't picked up by the mic, but it's just not suitable for most action games.

This mouse is fine for anything BUT fps games. Been using it for a few days with games like Wuthering Waves and had ZERO issues with it. This is one of the best in-stock quiet mice you can pick up at your local Best Buy, Staples, Microcenter, Target, or Walmart for casual late night gaming.

The m650 mouse has got bad ergonomics and strain my wrist. I've got both m650 and m650L and they both suffer from the same issue where the right side of the mouse is caved in. This causes your ring finger to be unsupported and causes strain. Would recommend G304, M720 or the MX Master series instead.
