Summary

The WLmouse Beast X is a magnesium alloy wireless gaming mouse that has built a strong following in the competitive mouse community, particularly among fingertip grip users. Reddit sentiment is broadly positive, with users consistently praising the tactile click quality, lightweight magnesium construction, and the satisfying feel of the solid sides on the Pro variant. The mouse comes in multiple sizes (Mini, standard, Max, Pro) giving it broad appeal across different hand sizes. Battery life is the most recurring complaint, with 4K and 8K polling modes draining the mouse significantly faster than competitors, though firmware updates and using lower polling rates mitigate this. At $149 and up, it occupies the premium end of the market and invites comparisons to the Finalmouse ULX — a comparison WLmouse often wins on availability and value.

Pros

  • Click quality is frequently described as best-in-class, with both Omron optical and TTC Nihil mechanical switches praised for their tactility and responsiveness — the optical variant offers faster reset while TTC feels more intuitive for sniping
  • Magnesium alloy shell provides a unique feel that users describe as light yet solid and durable, with a grippy anti-sweat coating that makes it viable for high-humidity and sweaty-hand environments
  • Available in three sizes (Mini, standard, Max, Pro) with solid side and side slit options, making it one of the most customizable shape lineups in the premium wireless market
  • The Pro series update added meaningful upgrades: solid sides, 3950 HS sensor with lower lift-off distance (0.7mm vs 1.0mm), rubberized scroll wheel, updated side buttons, and screws for the PCB
  • Users report excellent long-term durability, with one 2-year daily use review calling it the best mouse they ever used — the design is also easy to clean compared to traditional honeycomb patterns
  • Competitive pricing vs Finalmouse ULX: regularly available at $149 retail or ~$80–90 during AliExpress sales, while ULX availability is notoriously limited

Cons

  • Battery life is genuinely poor at high polling rates — approximately 17 hours at 4K and under 3 days at 1K, with users recommending 2K as the sweet spot for balancing performance and battery
  • The oversized USB dongle and reports that the included USB-C cable underperforms for polling stability (a shielded third-party cable improves consistency in MouseTester) are notable hardware annoyances
  • Side button placement and sizing on the Max variant draws criticism — buttons are described as too small and positioned too far forward for the mouse's size
  • The hole/slit design on non-Pro models traps dirt and grime along the pillars despite the surface staying relatively clean, and users with dry hands report the holes make grip less secure without tape
  • Some users report longer-term reliability issues: 8K dongle failures, battery degradation after a few months, and warranty complications when purchased through local retailers or third-party shops rather than the official store
  • The firmware update process requires disabling antivirus and firewall, which raises red flags for some users and adds friction to routine maintenance

The Clicks Are the Feature

Multiple Reddit threads converge on one point: WLmouse Beast X has the best clicks in the category. Whether you pick Omron opticals for speed or TTC Nihil mechanicals for tactility, users consistently say no competitor at this price matches the feel.

Battery Life Is the Price You Pay for Magnesium

At 4K and 8K polling, battery life sits around 17 hours — barely a gaming session and a half. Most experienced users settle on 2K polling as the practical sweet spot, trading marginal performance for days of extra runtime.

The Pro Upgrade Fixed What People Actually Complained About

Solid sides, a rubberized scroll wheel, updated sensor, and screwed-in PCB — the Beast X Pro series directly addressed the top community complaints from V1. For buyers who held off, the Pro is the version the original should have been.

We're suckers for getting hyped for solid sides, lol. Happy to see the plentiful accessories. Yay rubberized scroll wheel.

I used this every day for 2 years and it was frankly the best mouse I've ever used. Magnesium alloy gives it a feel plastic mouses do not. It mainly makes it feel light yet solid and durable. The design makes it easy to clean, gunk buildup is minimal compared to the outdated honeycomb trash.

I've not seen anywhere else mention how the provided USB-C cable isn't really up to the task of handling a 4k signal, or even a 1k hz signal tbh. While testing with mouse tester I've found the update interval and polling stability is massively more consistent when using the shielded USB-C cable G-Wolves provide with their newest batch of mice compared to the cable provided by WLMouse.

Got my Pro Mini the other day too. The build quality is insane and I personally love the omron switches they feel amazing. The overall build quality is amazing too. Upgraded from an Atlantis Mini.

Better qc than finalmeme, less the price shape is similar to the ulx, has 3 sizes to choose from.

Can pretty much confirm all that you said, but the battery life don't really bother me. Also, it's pretty suitable for relaxed claw with 20x10 hands for me.

I've been using the Beast X Max for a few days now, and for the most part, I'm impressed. Despite its size, it feels incredibly light, and to my surprise, I actually don't despise the holes — it does help keep my hands from sweating. The only real issue I have is with the side buttons. Not only do they feel too far forward for the size of the mouse, but they're also way too small.

Have used nothing other than my Beast X ever since the first release. Actual endgame and put an end to my mouse consumerism. Will probably only get a new one with solid sides when this one gives out.

WOW this is so nice. Solid sides and a rubber scroll. This will take over Finalmouse for sure.

Praying they do a beast x max pro I can't deal with the side slits — ruins the mouse for me even with grip tape.

I would buy mine again. It's a great mouse and lightweight. Had it for a few months now.

I have both the Hitscan Hyperlight and the Mini Beast X and find myself maining the WL mouse 9/10 times. It's definitely in that end game feeling for me based on weight, size, shape. I haven't been able to say anything negative about it. 18x10 hands.

I have a beast x 8k with optical switches and a fantastic beasts edition with the TTC Nihil switches. I prefer the TTC Nihil switches, they are more tactile.

I never use 8K on any of my mice tbh, don't think the battery drain is worth it. 1K feels completely playable and undistinguishable from 2K 4K and 8K in my experience.

In my honest opinion the firmware update doesn't help with battery at 4k and 8k. I mean yeah it works and feels great but battery life will always be an issue at those rates. Personally I put mine at 2k and called it for a good balance. Barely feel a diff but the longer battery life is well worth it.

Honestly I barely even remember much about my Maya X. I sold it after a couple days because I just hate the cheap, hollow feeling of Lamzu mice. The Beast X Pro feels so much better in the hand.

Little surprised Wlmouse had issues — I have heard good things about them. Finalmouse and LGG have magnesium mice, but both are smaller than the Beast X Max and have worse specs.

I've had one for several months and, while I do like it and think it's a great mouse, I'd like to explore other shapes. I think something with a bigger rear hump might suit me better. I came from a GPX Superlight and definitely prefer the Beast X to that.

I'd say it's the price and the limited colorways. I wish there were some safer/more appealing to a wide audience colorways. For the performance of the mouse itself, I have 0 complaints, the battery life has been on the average end, definitely won't beat logitech in battery life, but it's way better now than how it used to be with the V1.

I just semi retired my beast x mini too. The build quality on my beast is still unmatched with anything I've tried. I guess grip trumps materials for me because it's hard to beat the feel of the magnesium body.

If it had a metal scroll wheel and the og colorways this would be imo the best mouse possible but regardless I will be purchasing a beast x pro.

I've had a lot of Logitech and Pulsar mice and none of their batteries have died. Meanwhile, I bought a WLmouse Beast X Mini Pro and after two charging cycles the battery is already dead. Yes, they offer replacement parts, but who the hell wants to deal with that? I want things to work properly.

I don't really see a reason to get the new pro version other than colors and the new sensor maybe having a bit better battery life. That's basically it, unless you care about modding your mouse or the solid sides. I got the mini and had no problem.

I think the shape is so perfect that all I want is to feel more of it, solid sides would be amazing. I couldn't bring myself to send it back.

Just message support. They sent me a replacement battery for free a few months ago, though I ended up not needing it since it cleared up on its own somehow a few weeks later.

Overall I love it so far. Perfect weight, amazing clicks, solid build quality. My hands are dry af so the holes and coating made the sides a bit slippery for me to hold. Ended up with the grip tape on which I prefer.

They are great but the regular price is quite hefty and I wouldn't really buy them without a sale. I have used one for over a year and it is a great mouse. Great coating, amazing light but tactile optical switch implementation, smooth and nice scroll, light wheel click and alright ish side button switches.

Not the biggest fan of mice with holes or super light mice. Overall I'm not a fan of the battery life so far with the latest firmware, lasts like 2-3 days tops, the mouse seems small for Medium size also.

The battery life is very bad, the dongle is massive, the holes in the mouse are annoying, and it's improperly balanced.

Bad experience with the Beast X as, after only 4 months of use, my battery does not last more than 3 minutes when unplugged. Very deceiving product.

I bought 2 Gwolves, 2 Zowie, 1 Logitech, 2 Razers, and 1 random Spanish brand — the one that just keeps failing over and over is the WLMouse, the most expensive and recent one.

Don't bother with 8k, it causes too many problems with games currently. Only use 4k if you have a great CPU, otherwise use 2k or if you want the best battery life with minimal performance loss just use 1k.

I had a Beast X mini for sometime. Worked ok-ish for the most part but had quite low battery life, which is acceptable ofc on mice this light. I delayed installing the firmware updates for a long time, since they needed you to shut down all AV and firewall, like what the fuck is even that.
