Summary

The ASRock PG27QFT1B is a 27-inch IPS 1440p 180Hz monitor that has carved out a reputation as one of the most accessible entry points into high-refresh 1440p gaming. Reddit sentiment is generally positive, with users pointing to its competitive pricing — often landing under $200 — as its strongest argument. It shares a panel with the PG27QFT2A (which differs mainly in stand design), so professional reviews of that sibling apply here too. The monitor is best suited for budget-conscious gamers upgrading from 1080p who want IPS colors and fast refresh without spending premium prices. Those prioritizing color accuracy across all platforms or needing sRGB clamp for content creation will want to look elsewhere.

Pros

  • Exceptional price-to-specs ratio: 27-inch IPS, 1440p, 180Hz available under $200, a combination that cost $800+ just a few years ago
  • IPS panel delivers solid color accuracy and wide viewing angles compared to VA alternatives at the same price point
  • 400 nits brightness gives it an edge over competing budget monitors like the Gigabyte equivalent at 300 nits, making it more usable in well-lit rooms
  • Shares the same panel as the PG27QFT2A, meaning independent professional reviews (e.g. Tom's Hardware) give a reliable picture of actual performance
  • AMD FreeSync / Adaptive Sync support with 180Hz makes it a strong pairing for mid-range AMD GPUs targeting 1440p
  • Users who chose it over MSI alternatives at higher prices reported no complaints after purchase

Cons

  • No sRGB clamp mode at all — not even a broken one — meaning wide-gamut DCI-P3 output is always on, causing oversaturated skin tones and inaccurate colors for most SDR content
  • The sRGB workaround via GPU driver only works on Windows with proprietary drivers — not compatible with consoles, Steam Deck, or Linux
  • At least one user reported persistent VRR flickering that could not be resolved, ultimately leading to a return
  • ASRock is an unknown quantity in the monitor space, and some Reddit users are skeptical of brand credibility for displays — though the counterpoint is that most brands just rebadge panels anyway
  • Competing IPS monitors at similar or slightly lower prices exist (KTC, MSI options) making the PG27QFT1B less of a clear winner than it appears at first glance
  • Limited availability in some regions (Southeast Asia notably) and not always the cheapest option globally — pricing varies significantly by market

No sRGB Mode Is a Real Problem

Unlike most monitors in this price range that at least offer a broken sRGB clamp, the PG27QFT1B ships with none. For Windows gamers using AMD or Nvidia drivers the workaround exists, but console players, Steam Deck users, and Linux desktops are stuck with oversaturated DCI-P3 output for all SDR content.

ASRock's Monitor Credibility Debate

Reddit is divided on whether ASRock belongs in the monitor market. The skeptics are answered quickly: most monitor brands don't manufacture their own panels either, and this one shares its IPS panel with a model that received positive coverage from dedicated hardware reviewers.

The Cheapest IPS 1440p 180Hz Option in Many Markets

For budget builders in regions where this monitor lands under $200, it's frequently the only IPS option hitting all three specs simultaneously. Users upgrading from 1080p report satisfaction, though those with more VRAM-limited GPUs are often advised to reconsider 1440p altogether.

no srgb mode AT ALL! not even a fake broken one. so any potential buyers be aware of this. the expected outcomes are overly pink skin tones, red sand in deserts, instead of brown, etc... it is disgusting, that the display industry still RARELY sells displays with a working srgb mode.

I wouldn't trust sRGB mode on a budget monitor to be accurate anyway, unless you have a colorimeter.

After my last interaction with Newegg I'm done with them for good. Terrible company, terrible people working there.

you could find similar spec IPS panels a year ago for $10-20 less. this isn't very good of a deal, unless you prefer VA.

IPS is the standard, and more and more affordable. People may jump on this assuming they're getting an IPS panel.

Most of the other companies also know nothing about making displays either. They're just buying panels and slapping it into their chassis. Just like how corsair doesn't actually know how to make PSUs or how all OLED panels are made by Samsung and LG.

I remember when people were agonizing about prices ($200 vs $250 vs $350) for this class of monitor and now they are all consistently so cheap. Good to see.

Amazing how far panels have come. Paid over 800 bucks for a high end IPS 1440p monitor 6 years ago. Worse than these frequently under 200 displays in every way. Hope the trend continues for OLED, mini-LED and micro-LED panels, but never take these things for granted.

this one has higher brightness (400 vs 300) which is useful if your PC is in a well lit room. otherwise, fairly similar.

I don't know how cheap you need a 1440p 144hz+ monitor to be. Costco has them for $150. Other stores are like $160, and this list doesn't include prices from off-brands like KTC and such — you can get a 1440p 200hz IPS for ~$165.

using a working srgb mode on a monitor means, that you will experience the content, be it games, or videos, movies, series, etc... as the creators intended them to be consumed. the video game or video is designed around the srgb color space.

Contrast ratio. IPS Glow. Response time. VA panels have MUCH better contrast ratios than IPS panels usually at the sacrifice of response time. An example of where this matters is visibility of items in dark scenes are far more visible.

I bought this last year on Black Friday. I kept having bad VRR flickering issues that wouldn't resolve no matter what I did. I returned it and bought an AOC panel instead. I've been in gaming bliss ever since.

I get where you're coming from, but any attempt at a clamp would be nice, compared to none, at least IMO. A lot of people probably won't bother with a colorimeter, but being at least a fair bit closer to the ballpark than just having DCI-P3 colors is nice.

Problem with ASRock is I NEVER find any of their products here in Southeast Asia. Like their motherboards are always the recommended brands but this monitor isn't here.

same panel different stand, give it a read — referring to the Tom's Hardware review of the PG27QFT2A as a direct reference for this monitor's performance.

In the US, your only option for those specs and budget for IPS is the ASRock PG27QFT1B.

As an owner and enjoyer of a curved ultrawide, I don't get the point of curved 16:9 monitors, but to each their own.

It might not even be their own chassis. They're probably just slapping their brand on a fully built generic monitor.

Pairing that GPU with a 1440p gaming monitor is a bad idea. You will be severely VRAM strained at 8gb. A monitor that makes sense for this PC is a 1080p monitor.

Really? Tons of it here in Indonesia, always has the best price too, along with Gigabyte. This particular monitor is definitely not $180 though, more like $220ish.

i'm not risking my money for an unknown brand + i just bought a 6750xt from amazon and i thought it will be a waste if i don't have a 1440p monitor for it so i rather pay an extra for the full experience.
