Summary

The Asus ROG Strix XG27ACMEG-G Hatsune Miku Edition is a 27-inch 1440p Fast IPS gaming monitor with a 260Hz (OC) refresh rate and 0.3ms response time, wrapped in a co-branded Hatsune Miku aesthetic featuring blue-green and pink color accents. Reddit's consensus is that the underlying panel is genuinely competent — fast, low-ghosting, and feature-rich with ELMB SYNC and USB-C DP Alt mode — but the Miku collab premium inflates the price well beyond what the specs alone justify. Most users treat it as a niche buy: if you're a die-hard Miku fan who wants a themed setup, it makes sense; if you're optimizing for pure value or performance, OLED alternatives at similar price points win on every technical metric. Eye fatigue complaints have surfaced in related ASUS Fast IPS models, which potential buyers should keep in mind.

Pros

  • 260Hz (OC) refresh rate with 0.3ms response time makes it one of the faster 1440p IPS panels available, suitable for competitive gaming at high frame rates
  • ELMB SYNC technology combines motion blur reduction with variable refresh rate simultaneously, reducing ghosting and tearing without sacrificing sync compatibility
  • USB Type-C with DisplayPort Alt Mode allows clean single-cable connectivity from laptops and modern devices — useful for users who switch between desktop and laptop setups
  • The Hatsune Miku collab aesthetic is executed with genuine design effort — signature blue-green and pink color scheme, not just a sticker job — making it a standout piece for themed setups
  • ROG Gaming AI features and DisplayWidget Center software add practical convenience for adjusting settings without navigating OSD menus

Cons

  • The Miku collab premium pushes the price significantly higher than the panel specs alone warrant — Reddit users noted OLED monitors with comparable 240Hz 1440p specs are available at similar or only slightly higher price points in some regions
  • Fast IPS technology, while excellent for motion, has been linked to eye fatigue complaints across ASUS's XG27 lineup — users of the related XG27ACS specifically noted this issue, and it may carry over
  • No OLED means no per-pixel contrast, true blacks, or the HDR quality that competing monitors in this price bracket can offer — HDR performance is limited by IPS panel technology
  • The XG27ACS predecessor had reports of random horizontal flickering lines — a hardware quality concern that casts some doubt on ASUS's QC consistency across this monitor family
  • At $400-500+ depending on region, the value case collapses for anyone not specifically invested in the Miku theme — the same budget buys objectively better display technology elsewhere

Who Actually Should Buy This Monitor?

Reddit's take is blunt: if you're building a Miku-themed setup and want every component to match, this monitor is one of the few ways to complete that aesthetic with a high-refresh competitive panel. For anyone else, the specs don't justify the collab markup when OLED alternatives exist at comparable prices.

A Technically Solid Panel Buried Under a Collab Tax

The underlying Fast IPS display — 260Hz, 0.3ms, ELMB SYNC — is genuinely good hardware. But ASUS's Hatsune Miku branding adds a premium that pushes it into price territory where QD-OLED and WOLED competitors start appearing, making the value proposition difficult to defend on specs alone.

Eye Fatigue: The Quiet Concern Across ASUS Fast IPS Monitors

Multiple Reddit users across the XG27 monitor family — including the ACG and ACS variants that share similar panel technology — have flagged eye fatigue as a recurring issue. It's not universal, but buyers sensitive to display eye strain should be aware before committing to any ASUS Fast IPS panel at this price.

Doesn't look like anything special. We've had 1440p 240Hz-ish monitors for a few years now, and this doesn't really break the mold. There is a Hatsune Miku version of this monitor that looks cool, but probably not worth the likely insane asking price.

meh not willing to spend $400+ on a monitor that isn't an oled. this at $249 / $299 would be cool

I think GamerNexus did a review for something similar? It was definitely not worth it for the hardware. There is likely more than $1000 price premium for the theme. But if you want the themed parts then you have to pay the price.

It's good. Just not at that price point. You can get an oled with the same specs for the same amount.

Pretty sure it's obvious that this monitor is priced as it is cause it's a Hatsune Miku collab.

I felt this way about the X27ACS but the X27ACG feels better on my eyes. The X27ACS I guess I got used to after a few days but I did see a bunch of people complaining about eye fatigue, but I ended up returning it due to having random horizontal flickering lines.

Overpriced ASUS monitor, not worth the buy. Plenty of 240Hz 1440p monitors out there...

isn't it just a bump in refresh rate? The XG27ACS & G variants were 180hz...this is 260hz with higher price mostly similar performance.

This isn't worth buying since it doesn't even have ELMB 2 from asus, OLEDs are nice but they have VRR flicker which ruins Gsync altogether and then you either have to use no Vsync with tearing, Vsync with input lag and studder or using some obscure sync method like scan-line sync from riva tuner just to avoid tearing.

Meh, depends on the price. I have a bunch of monitors and as long as its a tn/ips/oled with low latency and low/no ghosting its fine.

No doubt that is ok monitor but paying 361 USD for 1440p IPS in 2025 is insanity.

I bought this monitor, but it had bad contrast and backlight bleed issues, one corner was bleeding backlight quite bad. Returned monitor. Other than that nice crispy image, great colours, gaming was fluid.

Good to know the Asus is a decent monitor, just definitely on the expensive side compared to other brand's equally specced stuff.

I didn't have any issues but returned it and took a chance with the AOC Q27G3XMN 27" QHD Mini LED Monitor. This one is better. It's brighter at 550 nits in SDR, and the colors pop more. It has no faded corners or horizontal lines or flickering, like literally, 0 issues.

It's severely overpriced (especially the Miku 5080, whose MSRP is basically almost on par with normal 5090 MSRP). You should only get into it if you're a die-hard Miku fan and you're willing to overpay for parts to have full Miku set.

If the price is not too far apart, and you love Miku, I'd totally go for it. Otherwise I'd just build my own and theme it myself.

I guess it depends on where you are... IMO, the upcharge is way too great compared to prices near me. I can build a 5090 build for about $750-$1k less using the same components where reasonable.

Hi! Can you suggest OLED 2k 240Hz monitor for the same amount? I found 26.5" MSI MAG 274QP QD-OLED X24 monitor but it cost 1/3 more than this.
