Summary

The Motorola Edge 2025 lands as a solid mid-range Android that punches above its price when acquired through carrier promos — many Reddit users got it free or under $200. Owners consistently praise the stunning pOLED display, exceptional battery life, and premium-feeling vegan leather back, making it a daily driver that feels nicer than its spec sheet suggests. The MediaTek Dimensity 7400 chip draws the most skepticism, with occasional load delays noted, though most everyday users report no real sluggishness. Camera quality is polarizing — fine for casual shooting but noticeably behind Pixel and Samsung in video and low-light, which is a dealbreaker for some and a non-issue for others. It's a phone that rewards buyers who don't pay MSRP and don't need flagship-tier compute.

Pros

  • Outstanding battery life — users consistently report ending the day above 50% charge, with the 5200mAh cell outperforming the Pixel 8a and other mid-range rivals
  • Gorgeous 6.7-inch pOLED display with HDR10+ support, extremely high brightness for outdoor use, and a premium 'floating glass' aesthetic that rivals flagships visually
  • Vegan leather back is grippy, scratch-resistant, and comfortable enough that multiple users dropped their case entirely — a rarity for Android mid-rangers
  • 68W fast charging keeps downtime minimal, and wireless charging is also supported — uncommon at this price tier
  • Moto gestures (karate chop flashlight, twist-to-launch camera) are genuinely useful daily and work reliably even after switching from competing platforms
  • Frequently available free or near-free on prepaid carriers like Metro, Total Wireless, and Visible — dramatically changes the value calculation at effective prices under $200

Cons

  • MediaTek Dimensity 7400 is the weakest link — occasional 1-2 second app load delays and not suited for demanding gaming; Snapdragon 7 Gen 2 in the Edge 2024 outperforms it in real-world tasks
  • Camera is mediocre for stills and actively bad for video — 4K footage shows jello effect, oversaturation, and poor dynamic range; one user bought and resold the phone specifically because of this
  • Curved display is divisive: screen protectors don't adhere properly, the curved glass is more exposed to shattering, and edge bleed is visible in daily use
  • Software support is limited — security updates only through April 2028, compared to Pixel 9a's April 2032; at MSRP of $430-$550, the Pixel 9a offers far more longevity per dollar
  • Bloatware is a known issue out of the box — the Moto App Manager auto-installs games, and carrier variants add additional junk that requires manual disabling
  • No microSD card slot and no Always-On Display option — two omissions that frustrate a meaningful portion of users coming from Samsung or older Moto flagships

Is the Curved Screen a Deal-Breaker?

Reddit is split on the Edge 2025's curved display. Some love the premium aesthetic and barely notice the edges in daily use, while others report cracked glass, incompatible screen protectors, and visible bleed at the curve. It's the single most debated hardware decision on the phone.

The Price You Pay Changes Everything

At MSRP ($430-$550), most Reddit users agree the Edge 2025 isn't worth it — competitors offer better chips and longer software support. But free on Total Wireless or $189 used on eBay? The consensus flips completely, and it becomes one of the best values in US mid-range Android.

Former Pixel Owners Keep Switching — And Liking It

Multiple threads feature users who traded Pixel 8 or 8a devices for the Edge 2025, citing Android 16's battery regression on Pixels as the push. Several said they prefer the Edge despite it being 'technically the worse phone' — the battery and screen experience won them over.

To stop auto-installing games you must find and disable a System app called Mobile Services or Mobile Services Manager. You might also have a bunch of junk on your lock screen. Look in the Lock screen area of Settings and see if something called Glance is running. It can be toggled off. Check for an app called Swish and disable it.

They've been great phones for what they are. The 2025 should be no different. Most all of the reviews that fault the North American edge models pretty much always boil down to one thing. The complaints are based on other phones at the same MSRP and what they can do. Since very very few people ever pay anywhere near MSRP for models like the Edge, it's not a fair comparison to make IMO.

The 2023 edge + is still superior I think but last I checked they sold out, I got mine for $349 a few months ago. It's a lot better reception than my Apple Pro Max. It sits in a drawer now.

I disable all Moto apps except for gestures and install GCam for the camera. One of the best features is the gesture to turn on the flashlight. I also found 5G signal is better than my Pixel, and battery life is a lot better.

Battery life is amazing. Coming from a pixel 8a, which I loved, but the 16 update tanked my battery. This has been wonderful for that. The screen is gorgeous. It has that floating on the glass look sometimes that gives it a really high end look. The vegan leather back is really nice. I know some people don't like the edges but it doesn't bother me and I barely notice them. Camera is ok, not great.

Underpowered cpu, but screen is amazing. Cameras are up there with top tier. Loong battery life. 256g storage. Charging super fast even on wireless.

Just got one about a week or two…beautiful phone. Didn't think Android moved up too much but boy was I wrong. My sister couldn't even see the difference in camera between that and my 16 pro — admittedly it's really close in good lighting. Worth it.

I bought the Motorola Edge 2025 it's a great device I like all the features that it brings. I don't use it with any case. I like how fast it feels and I like how when you go to the store and buy it the price. If you can find it for a good affordable price.

Bought it and sold it on FB Marketplace for a loss. Why? The camera is bad and I mean bad for stills and video both. Video in 4k has lots of jello effect and colors are off. Stills are oversaturated and when I look at them on my computer screen, they are mush with little to no detail. Once you use a phone with a good camera it's hard to go backwards.

The speakers are loud but tinny. I love the beautiful screen, battery life, and overall feel of the Edge. But too spoiled by the rich sound from the Samsung A35 so it remains my daily driver. The auto brightness works much better on the Samsung as well. The Moto is too dark at times so I use manual brightness.

It's a good phone. You need to set the refresh rate to 120hz to get the proper effect, and the camera is best in pro mode. Other than that, I've heard no complaints other than typical things people don't like about Moto phones in general.

Had mine since launch and I'm really loving it! Coming from a Pixel 8, which was okay, this oddly feels like an upgrade in some ways, like the screen, battery life, charging speed, and just how it feels in hand. I've had no issues with the speed or responsiveness in everyday usage at all. The Edge 2025 is severely underrated.

I left apple a little over a year ago and tried the latest pixel, I wasn't really happy with the choice. After a year I decided to try another android but wanted to save money and went with the edge 2025. WOW is all I have to say. I ended up getting the phone free through my plan but the performance really is top notch. Motorola did a good job and very much deserves credit.

Curved screen is a disappointment. I thought it was decided that no one actually likes the curved screens in reality? The biggest reason most people don't seem to like the curved screen is because it interferes with screen protectors and cases. Curved glass also means the glass is more exposed for shattering and breaking.

I've been using it since launch, coming from a base Pixel 8. Love it so far. Only downside so far has been that it's maybe a bit underpowered, there are SLIGHT delays at times, but I don't game or anything on my phone. For daily tasks it's totally fine. The screen is beautiful, and it gets so bright! The phone feels great to hold, the vegan leather back feels nice.

Bad build quality, the back cover is a thin sheet of plastic. No proper ventilation, gets hot quick.

Above average camera, bright high res screen but really curved, bad CPU, meh ram and storage, fast charging, and really optimized clean software.

I love this phone. My main devices are Samsung z fold 7 and s25 ultra. I also have a pixel fold and iPhone 15 pro. Out of all these devices, I use this Motorola edge 2025 the most. It just feels good. It's snappy and the display is great. The face id and fingerprint scanner is better on this phone than the rest of the so called flagships I have.

I just picked up the Edge 2025 a few weeks ago and I rather like it. The edge sides are a little odd yet, but I think my only issue is the TMobile glass screen protector weirdly drops the sensitivity on the sides.

I just got the Edge 2025 it's a great phone. I don't think the 2026 version will be out for quite a while and it will be overpriced at first.

I absolutely love mine despite the curved glass. I already broke one and ordered another because I loved it so much. So now I have 3 — one for the wife and I and one spare that needs a glass replacement which for dropping face down on concrete sidewalk faired remarkably well and is still usable. The 2025 is by far the best I have had out of the base models.

The ONLY thing holding me back from the edge 2025 is a proper always on display.

I actually have it as my second phone. My primary is iPhone 17 Pro Max but I love having the flexibility of Android as well. I find the 5G UC reception is better on the edge than the iPhone. Where this phone shines literally is the display — the pOLED is simply stunning, colors are incredible.

My Edge 50 Neo is similar in specs. It's pretty laggy outside of basic apps.

I wish it didn't have that curved display, it's stylish but that's about it. Design really is amazing though, one of my favourites from Moto. Battery life of Moto phones I've heard is usually great, so that's a highlight. And the camera isn't as bad as they say either.

Motorola has a deal now where the Edge 2025 is on sale and you can trade in your old phone — they'll give me $220 for my Stylus, which I paid $250 for. I also found a 10% coupon code. All that to say, a new Moto Edge 2025 for $215 after trade-in. Seems like a no-brainer.

I bought one recently and absolutely loved it. More powerful than expected, and the screen is gorgeous! And it's sooo thin. The Moto gestures are really handy too, the karate chop flashlight is a life saver. I would recommend this phone to anyone honestly.

I love this phone! For me the most important thing about a phone is how it feels in my hand and this is the best phone I have had since early LG's and Samsung's. It is thin, light and the vegan leather back is grippy and feels good. This is the first phone I am not using with a case. The screen quality and colors are amazing, even nicer than my OnePlus phones.

MediaTek app and game optimization lags far behind Snapdragon. Emulation lags far behind. Thermals lag far behind. Yes, their chips are comparable in benchmarks. But between two equal chips, the Snapdragon will run circles around Mediatek in real world usage.

No one pays retail for Moto phones. I just ordered one for free on Metro. You can buy them on eBay for less than $300, and at that price I can't think of a better phone, at least not here in the states.

I have the 24 and 25 edge. I like the 24 a bit better although I think the 25 is way easier to type on and it has a better screen. But they're both decent — I still use my 24 too and I've never had problems with either one.

I just purchased the Moto Edge 2024 off eBay for $189 used in 8/10 condition. Love the 68 watt fast charging on the edge. I love the budget prices on Motorola phones and the leather backs. First time using my phones without a case.

The phone optimizes battery on its own depending on the apps you use most frequently, it will take a week or two. As for Moto UI, it's almost stock Android just like the Pixel with many customizations, most of which you would appreciate over time such as gestures like twisting your hand to launch the camera app or karate chop for opening the flashlight. Cameras are decent enough on today's mid range Motorola.

And again Moto screws themselves over by not including an expansion slot! My whole family, my business all standing here ready to put money in Moto's pockets but will not until the memory slot is put back where it belongs. 8K video and photos take up so much space now. We are not paying for more cloud storage. Put it back and you will bring us all back.

I recently got my hands on the Motorola Edge 2025 and wasn't expecting much at first, but wow, it totally surprised me. The screen pops — bright, smooth, and super sharp. I took it outside on a sunny day and could still see everything clearly, which never happens with my old phone.

Moto Edge 2025 will get security updates up to April 2028 — at around $430 on Amazon that's about $15.93 per supported month. Compare to the Pixel 9a at $400 with updates to April 2032, which is only $5.33 per supported month. The value proposition falls apart on software longevity.
