Summary

The Motorola Edge 60 Pro is a well-regarded mid-range phone that consistently impresses users with its 6000mAh silicon-carbon battery, bright OLED display, and competitive camera setup — all at a price that undercuts many competitors. It's a strong choice for everyday users who want reliable performance, long battery life, and clean-ish software without paying flagship prices. That said, the phone comes with real compromises: aggressive bloatware that reinstalls itself after updates, a curved screen that divides opinion, and a software experience that frustrates users coming from OnePlus or Pixel. The update cadence is slow by Android standards, which raises concerns for those planning to use the device for 4+ years. Overall Reddit sentiment leans positive for the price, but experienced Android users often find the tradeoffs harder to swallow.

Pros

  • Exceptional battery life — 6000mAh silicon-carbon cell in a slim form factor, with users regularly praising it as best-in-class for the segment; DXOMark ranked it first overall in battery at launch
  • Display brightness stands out even against more expensive flagships — BOE OLED panel consistently scores near the top of auto-brightness tests, making outdoor visibility genuinely strong
  • Triple camera setup earns real praise in blind tests — a German community-run camera blind test (Computerbase 2025) voted it the best smartphone camera, and the ultra-wide upgrade from the 50 Pro is frequently highlighted
  • Near-stock Android with Moto additions like Smart Connect and gesture controls — users coming from budget Chinese Android skins consistently appreciate the cleaner software approach
  • Gorilla Glass 7i, IP68/69 rating, and vegan leather back give it solid build credentials for a sub-$400 device; multiple users report surviving regular drops without damage
  • Strong value density at launch price — 512GB storage, wireless charging, and eSIM support are included without the typical premium markup seen on competitors

Cons

  • Bloatware is a persistent and well-documented problem — apps like Taboola's Live Lock Screen reinstall after updates, and disabling 'Moto App Manager' or 'Mobile Services Manager' is required just to stop unwanted installs
  • No 4K 60fps video recording — capped at 4K 30fps across all cameras, which users upgrading from 3-year-old Motorola models (like the Edge 30 Fusion) find to be a regression
  • Curved screen is a genuine polarizer — phantom touches, edge distortion on UI elements, and screen fragility concerns come up repeatedly; curved display skeptics are well-represented in every thread
  • Software update pace is slow — security patches arrive every 2-3 months versus monthly for Samsung and Google, and only 3 major Android OS upgrades are promised (ships on Android 15, ends on Android 18)
  • USB 2.0 only — no display output, and wired file transfer speeds are limited; a deliberate cost-cut that loses functionality compared to USB 3.x alternatives in the same price range
  • Camera post-processing inconsistency — native app produces dull, desaturated results in some lighting; many users recommend switching to GCam (LMC 8.3) to unlock the sensor's full potential

The Bloatware Fight Is Real — Here's What Owners Do

Multiple Edge 60 Pro owners describe a cat-and-mouse game where disabling Taboola's lock screen and unwanted game installs works temporarily, only for them to return after the next OTA update. The fix — disabling Moto App Manager via ADB or Shizuku — works but shouldn't be necessary on a $350 phone.

Best Battery Under $400, But Software Holds It Back

The silicon-carbon 6000mAh battery and top-tier display brightness make the Edge 60 Pro a hardware standout. But slow security patches, a 3-OS-version update promise, and Hello UI instability mean the hardware advantage erodes over time — and Motorola's after-sales reputation in some regions (especially the UK) makes warranty situations a risk.

GCam Makes the Camera What It Should Have Been

A surprising theme across multiple threads: users who hated the native camera app switched to GCam (LMC 8.3) and found the hardware punched significantly above its price. The sensor itself won a community blind test against flagships — the problem is Motorola's own camera app getting in the way of it.

Pros: Light and compact body, grippy back, interesting color options; IP68 dust and water resistant. Excellent display - bright, sharp, 120Hz. Really nice software package - looks 'stock', has a ton of useful added features. Generally great photo quality from all cameras in all conditions. Ultrawide has been nicely upgraded. Cons: Refresh rate downgraded to 120Hz. Vastly downgraded charging. Selfie has been downgraded and now lacks autofocus.

Motorola always has cool colors. They must be paying for it but that deal with Pantone but every release I see something pretty unique and eye-catching.

Kind of crazy how half the phones in the brightness test with the highest auto brightness are Motorola phones. Many of these numbers outdo some of the most expensive flagships on the market.

I really wish they'd ditch the curved screen. I have an edge plus from 2023 and I'll never do another phone with a curved screen this size.

Might be me nitpicking but I don't understand why Motorola insists on the curved display that went out of form and fashion 4+ years ago. Also, important to note that they are only offering 3 major OS upgrades. It ships with Android 15 which means it will only get up to Android 18 which is roughly two years of support.

They finally bought some Silicon Carbon batteries — lets go Motorola!!! A 6,000mAh battery, a big jump from the 4,500mAh on its predecessor, with 90W TurboPower wired and 15W wireless charging.

Forums such as this sub are not a good places to seek reviews. Frustrated people speak louder in such places. You have already stated that the Edge 60 Pro has everything you want, I'd say go for it then. Keep in mind that you can face issues with any phone regardless the manufacturer.

I own the edge 50 pro and it not being a square makes it feel smaller in the hand. If they had shifted the weight balance a bit into the lower part of the phone it would be perfect.

USB 2.0 only. How much money do they save doing that, I wonder. Entire replacement daughterboards of USB 3.2 flagship phones retail for like 15 dollars on Amazon. I bet it's not more than a couple of dollars per unit going 2.0 vs 3.2.

I kept getting automatic game bloat downloads all the time. I stopped it by disabling the 'Mobile Services Manager.'

I bought in August 2025, received 2/3 security updates till now. Noticed UI bugs as well. But no UI lag and no camera shutter lag.

I'm using it side by side with samsung, to compare, somehow samsung gives more stable internet connection in both cellular and wifi. AI is bit useless, disabling (only) moto ai app make some home related transition faster.

Zero UI lags. Been using the phone for 3 months now. Smooth as hell. The camera is very good, but the post processing is atrocious. Would recommend using GCam or pro mode in the native camera app.

$300 is the selling point and it's not pretending to be anything more. People who want decent cpu, ram, storage speed, proper triple cam setup, good battery and charging, wireless and esim are thrown in seemingly without any premium cost. A clean OS that functions without getting into the nitty gritty.

There is a german IT page named computerbase and they did a blind foto test with their community to figure out what's the best smartphone camera and in 2025 the winner overall was the motorola edge 60 pro.

I just got mine and love it - I turned off the bloat/disabled it and there's a setting to prevent any new apps being added without asking in the play store. Curved screen is a nice novel feature and in my (small) hands actually is an improvement on my old Pixel 7. It was a decision between this and the razr but I went 60pro for value for money.

I got it on launch. Overall a solid product and vfm. Excellent battery and durable — I drop it a lot. I have no gripes with it for the price I gave.

The Moto's image sensor is pretty good, but their camera app kinda sucks. I just use GCam instead!

Got it on release. I drop the phone a lot. This phone is extremely good in all aspects. For the cost there is really no down side I can point out. This phone has changed my mentality towards moto and encourages me to get their next flagship. Personally I would prefer no curved screen. That's it.

I've never seen a Moto as more than a 2-3 year device... Not saying they won't last that long but Moto largely abandons everything after about 2 years and I don't trust their update policy as it seems to change on a whim.

In my opinion, do not buy curved ones if you will have more than moderate use; curved ones are prone to breaking in falls.

This is a decent phone in India for roughly $350. I think if you need a relatively pocketable phone, with decent battery, camera and processor it's not a bad deal. If you need great gaming then one of the poco, vivo, iQOO would be better. Better cameras - pixel and Samsung but with worse battery.

Don't feel too bad. The screen on the 2024 is the best I've ever used. The 2025 has a 165hz screen and the 2024 a 144hz screen, but the 2025 is capped at 120hz for everyday use, only does 165hz on certain apps, whereas the 2024 allows for 144hz everyday use. I actually prefer the 2024 for its size and screen.

The thing that really turned me against this phone is the Taboola 'Live Lock Screen' - twice now I've turned it off, and it's come back. I've disabled the 'Moto App Messenger' but that didn't seem to help.

It's really humiliating experience to remove bloatware. I have disabled most of the crap and it does not come anymore. But battery life in comparison to Samsung flagship is just gorgeous.

I buy moto phones because they perform slightly higher than most at the price, so I'm aware the bloat is some form of hidden cost. I found some tutorial somewhere on how to disable most crap, it's annoying but it's worth the $100 or so saved.

The camera focus isn't point and click, I often get fuzzed out photos and then AI autocorrects them, which sux. I also do not like the update schedule which is around 3 months for every security update, that's pretty poor when the competition Samsung and Google manage monthly updates.

Reviews will vary from person to person. I absolutely love the pictures, specially from the telephoto lens. At the end people just post it on social media or stories, and almost all phones on the market today are on par with it with a few differences here and there.

Good camera good battery and good performance. Two major problems: 1. It restarts automatically 2 times a day. 2. Connectivity is an issue. Sometimes it won't connect to network and even if connect very slow network. Other than this very satisfied with the phone. Very good camera especially the telephoto and very nice battery too.

The one thing tech reviewers didn't mention is that the Edge 60 Pro is using the latest battery tech which is silicon carbon. This is the main reason why Motorola can fit a 6000mah in a very slim profile.

This phone has been very good for me, it is water resistant. Zero ui lags, good performance. Although good cases that protect the screen are a little hard to come by since the phone is so thin and is not a square so it's not very resistant.

I have bought Moto Edge 60 Pro last month and it's battery is the best one I have ever seen. I accidentally dropped few days back and it landed on bottom edge, but no screen damage or lines appeared afterwards. It has IP 68/69 rating and gorilla glass 7i so I guess it can bear some rough usage.

If someone buy the 60 pro as their first 'premium' phone they praise its performance and crazy value. But if someone used many flagships before bought this they will clearly see hundreds of bugs, ads, disabled app returns, camera inconsistency, display quality issues, flickering, software nonsense, support weaknesses.

Photos are incredible for the price, videos are not that great. I took an entire family function on portrait mode on edge 60 pro, and all the people took edge 60 pro photos over iphone 17 photos. Video is not good.

It's solid for the price. Sometimes the camera leaves more to be desired — in some lighting conditions, the processing results in desaturated and/or dull photos with no punch. NOT SAYING THAT ITS A BAD CAMERA! In this price range, I feel like this is one of the best cams you can get.

I honestly like the vegan leather back, and I think for a lot of people that is a pro over the more traditional glass back, but the fact that the frame is made of plastic is annoying. It's not priced like other flagships, but for its price I would expect an aluminum frame.

I got rid of my pixel 9 because of the poor battery life and battery degradation in just a year. I compared photos between the 2 and the 60 pros pics look far more natural.

Late to the party but I just received mine. Specs are insane for the price, looks amazing, my only gripe is with the ridiculous aspect ratio, way too narrow and long, feels like I'm holding a tv remote. That's it, all in all still a beast of a phone.

I have a Moto Edge 30 Ultra and a Samsung S24. The Motorola is older and has been used much more, but it's still far superior to the S24. The camera quality is the same for both photos and video, the processor, the screen everything is better in Moto.
