Summary

The RedMagic 11 Pro is a pure gaming phone that Reddit has largely embraced for its hardware while repeatedly calling out its software as a serious weak point. It runs the Snapdragon 8 Elite, packs a 7500mAh battery with 80W wired and wireless charging, features a 144Hz OLED display with an under-display camera, IPX8 water resistance, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and the headline feature: an active liquid cooling system with a built-in micro-pump. The consensus is clear — if you game hard on mobile, emulate, or just want absurd battery life without a camera bump, this phone delivers. But if you want polished software, frequent updates, or a capable selfie camera, you'll walk away frustrated. It's best treated as a secondary device or for users who know exactly what they're signing up for.

Pros

  • Snapdragon 8 Elite with sustained performance under load — users report smooth emulation of Switch titles and demanding titles like Genshin Impact and Wuthering Waves without throttling, especially with the active fan running
  • 7500mAh battery is a genuine standout, with multiple owners reporting 11+ hours of screen-on time in balanced mode and multi-day endurance for light users
  • 80W wired and wireless charging (both supported on the global version) fills the massive battery fast — users report roughly 50 minutes from 10% to full
  • Flat design with no camera bump, under-display front camera, IPX8 water resistance, IR blaster, 3.5mm headphone jack, and DisplayPort over USB-C — a rare combination on any phone at this price
  • Pressure-sensitive shoulder triggers and dedicated Game Space mode give it genuine gaming utility beyond just raw specs, with macro support for in-game actions
  • Starting at $650–$699 globally, it offers 24GB RAM and 1TB storage configurations that would cost significantly more on mainstream flagships

Cons

  • Software is the phone's Achilles' heel — users report notification delays (calls taking 5–10 seconds to appear), Bluetooth instability, aggressive background app killing, missing QR code scanning in the camera app, and bugs that persist through updates
  • Only 2 major OS updates on the global version (3 years security), which is poor value for a $700+ device — budget Samsung A-series phones often get more
  • Liquid cooling is largely a marketing gimmick in practice: the loop only covers the battery area and doesn't contact the SoC, making it mostly ineffective for CPU/GPU temps unless paired with an external cooler
  • Camera system is weak across the board — rear main is roughly iPhone 12 / Galaxy S21 level, the under-display front camera has a noticeably bad AI filter, and the autofocus is reported to malfunction frequently requiring camera app restarts
  • Locked bootloader with no unlock path, killing any hope of custom ROMs that could fix the software shortcomings or extend the device's life
  • Carrier compatibility issues in the US — missing Band 71 (T-Mobile's extended coverage) means degraded signal outside city centers, and overall band support is narrower than mainstream flagships

The Liquid Cooling Everyone's Talking About Doesn't Cool What You Think

Reddit users and teardown analysis reveal the pump loop in the RedMagic 11 Pro only covers the battery, not the SoC. Multiple owners confirm it helps with charging temps but makes almost no difference during heavy gaming — unless you add an external peltier cooler, which then makes the system genuinely effective.

Incredible Hardware. Inexcusable Update Policy.

The biggest recurring complaint isn't the camera or software bugs — it's the principle. Owners paying $700+ for a phone with cutting-edge specs are getting fewer OS updates than a $200 Samsung. Reddit repeatedly points out this deliberate choice keeps users on the upgrade treadmill rather than fixing what they already paid for.

Non-Gamers Are Buying It Anyway — And Most Don't Regret It

A surprising number of buyers in the RedMagic subreddit openly admit they don't game on mobile. They bought it for the headphone jack, uninterrupted display, no camera bump, and battery life. The community consensus is that it works fine as a daily driver — as long as you accept the camera limitations and vanilla-ish Android.

Hardware wise this is my dream phone, uninterrupted display, headphone jack, no camera bump, top end specs, active cooling while still ip rated. Yet the software is ass and support lasts shorter than budget phones from Samsung

If cameras are important for you, this ain't it chief. Otherwise, it's a decent daily driver, even for non gamers.

Mora would be more useful if it wasn't simply a gimmick but actually something serious. The entire OS suffers from the 'we need to put more AI in so they take us seriously' delusion. I have to strongly agree with the 6/10 for the software. The gaming features are nice and how it's barely bloated but the AI bloat and general instability are just well... sad. From every other perspective the phone is phenomenal.

so same as always then, crap cameras, crap speakers, crap software, only mildly better for playing mobile games than a typical glass slab phone. another year another pass.

I bought mine for daily. I am not a huge gamer but battery means everything to me. I was concerned because I had heard about glitch software and it not being an every day use phone. Please to report that a week or so in, I love this phone. The battery is exactly as advertised and I have no concerns about juice anymore.

It helps only when temps are under 40C, and that's 2-3C less at best. When temps are high, it saturates and that pump is too weak/slow to take away heat - it's better then nothing. It's main advantage for me is not in gaming but in cooling battery during charging.

I am using it exactly like your use case, don't care about gaming but I bought it for the brilliant and nice design: no ugly rounded corners, flat back with Hi-Tech looking elements behind the glass, first phone with liquid cooling. Pros: huge battery which easily gives me 11+ hours SOT, very fast charging thanks to 80w charger.

Buying these insanely spec'd out phones for hundreds of dollars or even a thousand just for it to get like 1-2 years of software support feels like a slap to the face. These type of phones seem like a secondary device I'd just use on the side if I was a hard core gamer.

I've had mine for roughly a month as well and I enjoy it however I do wish the camera was better. I might get the Z80 Ultra as a secondary option.

I have the 10 pro and I just use it secondary to my main phone. Essentially a tablet. I don't count on it for calls or texts. Games, media, entertainment and it's so good at those things. Most likely a niche use case but it works well for that purpose!

Whilst I do agree with your points, I truly love this phone. No other, and I mean none, phone brand puts this much attention to detail for gaming that is sold worldwide. The hardware is beautiful. I am sure most of us would pay more to have better cameras in the future, but nevertheless its truly a beast and just a work of art to look at for me.

Depends if its what you want, only 2 cons I'd say: 3 years up to date, so at least 5 years of full app compatibility. Inferior camera system, I'd compare to something like an iPhone 12/Galaxy S21. Pros: best performance and media consumption, cheap.

Battery is very good. Even with gaming in Balanced mode and all the daily stuff, it just goes and goes. Charges very fast as well, and no regrets setting it to charge at max speed, enabled fan and liquid to blast while charging. Google Pay, NFC works normally. The fingerprint sensor is flawless. It's just a joy to use this phone for anything.

Nobody cares about speakers when there's a 3.5mm jack and wireless. Software will get better with updates, and EU gets 5 years of that at least. It's not mildly better, it's the absolute best right now with great sustained performance. Giga battery, fully waterproof, wireless and reverse charging, IR blaster etc. At 670€ you get a fuck ton of specs and no other phone except the Z80 Ultra can match that value.

Honestly the cons would have to be poor cameras, limited carriers that you can go with. That is the only flaw that I have found with the 11 pro. The pros it's a fast damn phone, it can handle some serious gaming, it's got a beautiful display, and if your internet can handle it this phone is a beast. They sound depending on which way the phone is tilted is almost like a 3D experience.

Biggest con: using it as a real phone. Not fully compatible with many carriers as it says. Works half ass for T-Mobile and AT&T. Do a deeper dive into the network bands that it has and whatever service you have and what their bands use. If you like being disconnected at any given moment in the day in the US, then get it. It's fine in the city. Once you go out to the boonies, you have issues.

Biggest trust killer is the support. Unable to create an invoice according to EU laws for over two months with some many empty words... and not updating the phone correctly is part of that too. Never again this company.

It's a niche phone so things like case and accessory support is going to be limited. Patch updates can be slow and often random. Support can sometimes be lacking, with occasional problems slipping through the cracks. You're never going to get the polish of a Samsung or a Google.

There's really no incentive for them to improve their software and support cause their business model is getting their users to buy the newest one anytime it's out. If they improved the software and support for their older models, people would be way less incentivized to buy the yearly upgrade.

If they can upgrade the cameras on the next red magic 12 pro, I will be a life long customer. Love this phone. The design, cooling, oled screen, performance, battery life. Simply amazing.

Agreed that camera focus sucks. I was trying to scan a barcode up close as was required by a specific app and it would not focus enough to scan. Spent probably 10 minutes trying. The speakers could be improved a bit at low volume. Also the screen brightness at lowest setting doesn't dim enough. But pretty good phone overall!

I came from S23u. I definitely don't regret it. Things I love: 24g ram and 1T storage is crazy good value. Uninterrupted display from UDC is fantastic. Headphone jack! Love the LEDs for notifications. IR Blaster is such a great feature. Flat back, no camera bump! The phone is beautiful and stylish. Liquid cooling looks sick and is functional.

Nobody seems to have mentioned it but notifications just don't work. Calls, messages, pop ups and bubbles stop working after a few come through. Calls take 5/10 seconds to pop up to answer. The vibration/ringtones don't go off most of the time. You can fiddle with all the settings, but there isn't anything to be done. If you want to use this phone as a phone and not a console, don't buy it. The software is hot garbage and they will never fix it.

I use it purely as a gaming phone so it has no SIM card, I just run off wifi and mobile hotspot. Plays at a smoothness level my S25 Ultra could dream of before turning into a fireball 10 min later. The cameras are complete garbage barely usable front or back, probably like an S21 level or so. The cooling isn't a gimmick, it's legit, even its resting temp is 16 degrees lower than my S25 Ultra. It's an amazing gaming phone but I would never use it as my daily driver.

It's really sad that this is the only phone with a headphone jack and a PC mode (Console mode) that lets you use external displays or AR glasses which is very useful. It also has wireless charging and a monster battery on top of it all.

The biggest thing that has turned me away from ever getting it is the android update policy. What is effectively 1 major OS update is, for a lack of a better term, insulting. Even some midrange phones get 3.

I'm not a phone nerd so just like you I don't care about phone gaming. I bought mine only for the headphone jack, the beautiful uninterrupted display and the more than affordable price tag. The cool form of the phone, RGB, and immense battery are nice bonuses as well. The biggest negative is the selfie cam, it sucks, but you can take a selfie with the main camera by turning the phone's back towards you. The main camera is decent enough tbh.

I'm not a huge gamer and I love it. The design is way more pleasing than most other phones right now, the battery life is awesome, no camera bumps is great, headphone jack...lots of good things. I'd say the rear camera is better in real life than what a lot of reviews say, but worse than my OnePlus 12. Does a good enough job though.

My RM11 Pro gets really hot after 15-20 mins of light use. Even if I'm just reading manga or browsing. Also heats up on any charger I use. Not sure if its the same for everyone but I'm strongly considering returning it for this reason alone. Software is buggy at times and the bootloader is locked. Fan is louder than expected. Battery life isn't as good as expected.

The camera especially the front and the OS. Unfortunately the OS is seriously bugged and stupid — like no folders in the app drawer, LED lights only for 15 min on notifications, no balance fan speed on charging instead of fast and noisy. Bugs: I had notification issues, screen wake up issues, USB tethering issues, even ringtone bugs. A lot of bugs for a phone.

I will say I'm having a TON of software issues. To their credit RM has been working with me, but my Bluetooth is still super unstable, and I can't get my Microsoft companion app to sync to my phone. Otherwise the only other major annoyance I have is you can't re-route the game mode button to a silence/volume switch and you can't click on QR codes directly from the camera screen.

I feel like people miss out on the biggest advantage this phone is going to have over most big-name phones - emulation. 24GB of RAM and liquid cooling mean that Switch games should run flawlessly. Just have to get Turnip drivers to be compatible with the new SD Elite chip.

My main criteria for a phone were: no screen camera cutout and a current flagship processor. This phone was £600 and an equivalent Samsung or whatever would be like £1000 so they had my attention. I've also ended up with customisable RGB notification lights, reassignable gaming mode switch, and more.

This year I've had S25 Ultra, RedMagic Pro 11+, RedMagic 11 Air, and S25 Edge. Pros of the 11 Pro: Battery, cool looking, performance, charging speeds. Cons: Software is good, but not as good as One UI. I kind of question the durability. I got some large scratches to the phone screen. It's heavy and kind of thick for every day use.

I have both phones, RM10 Pro and RM11 Pro. And guess which phone is better working on games? RM10 Pro. Because RM11 Pro is made on Android 16 and most of the games don't support Android 16 yet. I'm truly disappointed about it. My RM11 Pro is most of the time not in use, it's sad but can't do anything about it, except waiting.

This phone is too good tbh. I've tried Endfield and the game runs fine, although I wish there were more demanding graphic options. On the RM's side, I wish frame interpolation was available for everything inside Game Mode.

Been using mine for roughly a month plus, and it's been hell for me. Connectivity to wifi, 5G or even 4G is terrible. Bluetooth doesn't connect properly most of the time and constantly lags or stutters. Designated ringtones don't work at all for WhatsApp and constantly change to ringtones I never even selected. Some apps don't work normally on the phone.

The camera is pretty bad. Software is mid at best. Customer service sucks. Updates almost nonexistent. Other than that, sure, decent phone. I love the look but yeah.
