Summary

The Vivo X300 Pro has earned a strong reputation among enthusiasts who prioritize camera performance above all else, with Reddit broadly agreeing it delivers one of the best telephoto and overall imaging experiences available on any smartphone. Long-term owners coming from Samsung Galaxy S-series and iPhones consistently report satisfaction, particularly praising the battery life on non-EU variants and the snappy Dimensity 9500 performance. The phone's biggest friction point is its aggressive AI image processing — especially in portrait mode and low-light conditions — which divides users between those who find workarounds acceptable and those who consider it a dealbreaker. OriginOS 6 is viewed as a major step forward from FunTouch, though it still trails Samsung's One UI in polish and ecosystem depth. The EU variant's reduced battery capacity is a notable hardware disadvantage that makes the Chinese or non-EU global version the preferred choice for most buyers.

Pros

  • Telephoto camera is class-leading, especially for close-range and night shots — users repeatedly describe results that rival or beat dedicated cameras at equivalent focal lengths
  • Battery life on the CN and non-EU global variants (6500mAh silicon-carbon cell) is exceptional, with owners reporting full-day usage even under heavy load including gaming and GPS
  • 90W fast charging with charger included in the box; third-party GaN chargers also deliver solid speeds in practice despite early reports to the contrary
  • Dimensity 9500 delivers top-tier CPU and GPU performance with standout benchmark results and smooth everyday use across demanding apps
  • Vivo Office Kit provides free, seamless cross-device integration with Mac and Windows — shared clipboard, screen mirroring, and file transfer that users find genuinely useful
  • Flat design with IP68/IP69 rating makes screen protectors easy to apply, and build quality receives consistent praise across global and CN variants

Cons

  • AI processing in portrait and low-light modes over-smooths faces and adds unnatural skin softening by default — disabling HDR or enabling Raw Lighting helps but forces trade-offs in dynamic range
  • EU variant ships with a reduced battery capacity that results in noticeably worse endurance compared to competitors like the Oppo Find X9 Pro, which uses the same chip but a larger cell
  • Speakers are weak for a flagship at this price point — multiple owners cite them as among the worst they've experienced from a top-tier device, though better than the X200 Ultra
  • Software update cadence for global and Indian variants lags behind the Chinese ROM, with Chinese users receiving patches faster and more frequently
  • No eSIM support on CN variant out of the box; workarounds exist (physical eSIM adapters) but add friction for buyers in markets where eSIM is standard
  • Post-purchase service infrastructure is thin in several markets — one Indian user reported 7-day response times for basic support requests, a significant risk for a ~₹89,000 purchase

Turn Off HDR First

New X300 Pro owners are discovering that the phone's default AI processing — particularly face smoothing and aggressive HDR — is easy to tame. Disabling HDR in portrait mode or enabling Raw Lighting dramatically improves naturalness, but the fact that you need to know these workarounds on a flagship camera phone is a recurring complaint across threads.

Great Camera, Complicated Package

Reddit's verdict is that the X300 Pro earns its camera reputation but asks buyers to accept real compromises: a weaker EU battery, thinner after-sales support than Samsung or Apple, and an OS that's still maturing globally. Users who buy it specifically as a camera phone consistently love it; those expecting a complete Samsung replacement often feel the gap in software polish.

CN Version in the West: It Actually Works

A surprising number of users in Canada, the US, and Europe are importing the Chinese variant and reporting smooth day-to-day operation — Google services work well, OriginOS runs in English, and cellular on T-Mobile and Fido has been largely issue-free. The main gotchas are no eSIM and slower notifications that require enabling autostart per app.

RAW + Normal image gets saved as two separate copies by default. It is a feature as most people would want a social media ready pic too.

To be honest Oppo Find X9 Pro looks better deal than Vivo X300 Pro in Europe.

Great points but I believe nit picking. Also that's how the volume rocker works. You can provide suggestions through the feedback app.

Pros: Fully flat design, glass protector friendly, IP68/IP69-rated. Super-bright display, Dolby Vision capable. Class-leading charging speed. Top-class performance, standout GPU results. Spectacular telephoto camera, particularly great at night and at close range. Cons: Nerfed battery capacity in EU markets. Speakers can be better.

Had it since Dec 3rd (Global HK), still love everything about it. I don't really miss anything coming from my S23U other than the ability to crop/share a screenshot and instantly delete it, and the S-Pen as a camera remote. I had issues with Gmail notifications for some reason but that seems to resolved itself.

Gonna have to update this when you get your sim, to check if VoLTE, VoWiFi, SA 5G and 5G+ work on this phone. A friend with the X200 Pro couldn't get the faster 5G plus performance or VoWiFi to work with their carrier.

Oh wow the vivo x300 EU battery life is not good compared to its competition.

Vivo phones doesn't support fast charging with other PD fast charge adapters, which means awfully slow charging with anything else instead of their own charger. Speakers are the worst among all flagships I ever used or tested, only the x200 ultra had worse one.

I also have the CN version of the X300 pro. The Chinese is barely an issue EXCEPT within the camera — all the settings are in English, that's fine, but the user guides to what each function does is in Chinese. Would be lovely if this was in English as well.

I don't like how vivo handles faces, specifically how it appears there's an automatic beautify feature on skin complexion (skin smoothing and reduction of pores) and I find it unnatural even without pixel peeping.

So far I haven't noticed any downsides (Global-EU). Even battery life with the smaller battery is surprisingly good. One big plus which I don't find mentioned enough is Vivo Office Kit. Shared clipboard with Mac (in my case), remote control of phone via Mac or vice versa, easy transfer of files, etc. And it's free!

Chinese version here, been using it for a month and honestly I like it, you have to set it properly in the beginning to remove all the Chinese apps but now it works perfectly.

It's a very good device, fast, best camera, excellent workmanship. The battery lasts long, maybe not the best actual, but okay. Not so good: extreme round edges, full flat design (with the X200 pro handling and feel was better), colors of the device.

I upgraded from the x200 Pro in November. I'm extremely happy with the x300 Pro. The new design, the addition of a multi-functional shortcut key, and the new camera flash are all well worth the upgrade. I'm also very happy with Origin OS 6. It has become much more stable since its original release and blows FunTouch out of the water.

Coming from a pixel 8 pro I am not very impressed. I was at first but the google processing and zero blur photos are way better. I like all the other things like battery life and overall snappiness. But for the photos I expected way more.

I personally own this phone and it obliterates any other smartphones I had in the battery department and camera as well. I had Op 13 and S24U and iPhone 15 Pro Max and this gets at least 30 percent more screen time than those. It's insane. It's the first phone I have that can last me a whole day while gaming using GPS everything on 5G.

I use X300 Pro as well. RAW + Normal image gets saved as two separate copies by default. AOD brightness depends on the colour of the image and animation selected. Mine has no over brightness issue. Volume button behaviour is pretty normal.

You will love the hardware on the x300 pro and its capabilities. You will love the photo app and the choices it offers. You can tweak and play around, to create your preferred style. BUT you won't like the algorithmic processing that is baked into this phone. Especially if you like your photos as natural as they can be. That natural photography is something you won't get out of the box.

Stay with the S24U. I currently have the X300 pro and no, it is not better in terms of overall use. Yes of course, the camera is miles better. I currently only use this phone as a camera phone for my social media pictures.

You'll be smooth sailing in NYC. Coverage is excellent on the T-Mobile or AT&T networks. You will gain ridiculously fast charging (charger included in the box), a universal remote control via infrared, and the best camera system you've ever used on a phone.

Vivo service is really poor. Parts shortage on x series phone. If I raise a simple thing, support team takes 7 days to come back. It's my biggest mistake I spend close to 1 lakh on vivo phones. Remember the phone is not only camera. End to end service matters.

Unlike most phones out there it gives you all the tools you need to produce an image close to what you would get out of a real camera.

Notification is lacking the badge feature (exception only for a handful of applications) which every other flagship offers. I have always issues with Bluetooth not connecting to devices. Charging is slow — even with the 90W original charger I get 40W only. With third party ones 20W max. I only recognized after a while how heavy it is compared to OnePlus 13.

Go for it, you won't regret it. Camera is leagues ahead. Screen is as good as S22 Ultra. However One UI is still better and I still miss Samsung wallet. Origin OS is leagues ahead of FunTouch.

Turning on raw lighting reduces the dynamic range. It's a pity that we have to choose between awful AI processing and good dynamic range.

Oversharpened pics. We can simply reduce sharpness to -100, then the results are amazing.

APNs only handle how data flows after the phone is already connected, they don't control which 5G bands your device locks onto. Band selection is decided by the device itself. What you're running into is very likely tied to the global variant's radio firmware and how it negotiates US mid-band 5G.

While I have the X300 Pro and Find X9 Pro with me, I'm somewhat disappointed with the camera, particularly in portrait mode and Bluetooth performances. Despite the impressive specifications, there are several bugs that are causing me some frustration.

I've compared it with my Samsung s24 ultra — camera, battery backup, video quality is better in Vivo x300 pro (global Indian unit). It's not a downside but Vivo AI still needs to get better.

Coming from a Pixel 10 Pro, my main issue is the sheer size of the phone. It's big, especially with the camera bulge. Heavy too. It makes it somewhat uncomfortable to use, especially one handed. Outside of that though, I do like it and hoping I get used to the size. Camera quality is outstanding which was my main purpose of getting it.

Bugs after latest update (Indian): photo taken in 200mp mode in portrait turns into black after latest update, and it feels like macro mode quality decreased.

I was using Samsung phones always. The last samsung I used was S24 ultra. Moved to Pixel 9 pro xl after that. Ever since I upgraded to x300 pro, I couldn't be happier. I've taken around 2k photos already within 2 weeks. I never used to click so many birds, macros etc before because the phones were not capable enough. But this one handles everything so great and makes you want to click all the time!

Too much AI processing? Turn on Raw Lightning (full zoom possibilities unlike in oppo's find x9 pro master mode). Annoying face beauty effect? Raw lightning + telephoto. Too much HDR? Turn off HDR. Camera is wonderful and much better in x300 pro than overhyped oppo find x9 pro.

Came from a S23 Ultra to this, have an R6 Mark II for my actual photography needs. Have been using this with extender from a week now. Crazy crazy pics... but like any phone sometimes it'll be an odd output.

My experience with the vivo x300 pro is really good, the photography experience is genuinely nice with the mediatek dimensity 9500 for the smooth experience, gaming also feels smooth plus the battery backup also did not disappoint.

The global version has a lot less bloatware, supports eSim, and OriginOS feels different from reviews I saw. Enjoy your Vivo X300 Pro, I know the camera is going to satisfy you a lot. I was using X100 Pro and camera blew me away, but Funtouch sucked.

I went from S24U to Vivo X300 Pro, mainly for photographic reasons, and I don't regret it. I see no reason for you to switch to Vivo if you're not hell bent on photography, cause that's the only area where Vivo beats Samsung, in my opinion. Samsung's software is more polished and has more features.

Among other positives, it's the smartphone with the best phone reception I've ever seen. It even works in the bunker.
