Summary

The Xiaomi 15T is a mid-range Android with genuinely impressive hardware — a bright 6.83-inch AMOLED, IP68, Dimensity 8400 Ultra, and Leica-tuned cameras — that punches above its price point, especially after recent discounts bringing it under €400. Reddit sentiment is broadly positive on hardware but consistently critical of HyperOS, with complaints ranging from ads (outside EU) to bugs introduced by the HyperOS 3 update. Battery life divides users: some report excellent all-day endurance, others struggle to make it to evening, particularly after the OS 3 upgrade. It's a phone best suited for buyers who prioritize display quality and camera versatility and are willing to spend a few minutes taming the software.

Pros

  • Dimensity 8400 Ultra delivers strong real-world performance and notably better thermals and battery efficiency than the same chip in the Poco X7 Pro — reviewers clocked 2+ extra hours of battery life despite a smaller capacity
  • 6.83-inch AMOLED with HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and high-frequency PWM dimming is frequently called one of the best panels at this price; indoor and outdoor brightness praised across multiple threads
  • IP68 waterproofing rated to 3m — rare at this price tier — combined with a slim, clean design and no oversized camera bump earns consistent design praise
  • Triple Leica-tuned camera system with 3x optical zoom and 4K/120fps video; several users coming from Samsung flagships said photos impressed them, and 4K slow-motion quality was called 'crazy beautiful'
  • 4 Android OS updates and 6 years of security patches confirmed — well above what critics claimed and competitive with Samsung's mid-range policy
  • 67W fast charging, Wi-Fi 6E tri-band, NFC, IR blaster, and eSIM support make it a well-rounded feature set for the money

Cons

  • USB 2.0 only — no USB 3.x, no DisplayPort or HDMI output — is called a 'dealbreaker' by multiple users who want to transfer large videos from the strong camera system to a laptop quickly
  • Plastic frame and back, no wireless charging — hardware trade-offs that directly explain the price gap versus the 15T Pro, which adds a metal frame and 5x periscope zoom
  • HyperOS 3 update introduced new bugs for some users: fingerprint reader latency, gallery app issues, increased battery drain, and a general iOS-imitation aesthetic described as 'crude'; a factory reset resolves issues for some but not all
  • Battery life inconsistency is a real concern — several owners report only 4–5 hours SOT and having to charge 1.5× per day, while others get easy all-day use; the Xiaomi 15 (flagship) reportedly outlasts it despite a smaller battery due to better Snapdragon optimization
  • No Always-On Display on the standard 15T (the Pro has it); a meaningful missing feature for users coming from competing phones at similar prices
  • Ads appear in system apps outside the EU ROM — requires active steps to disable, which Xiaomi fans defend but many prospective buyers consider unacceptable on a €400+ phone

HyperOS: The Software That Keeps Coming Up

Whether it's ads, the HyperOS 3 bug wave, or gestures breaking with third-party launchers, Xiaomi's software is the single most-debated aspect of the 15T. EU users report a mostly clean experience; everyone else proceeds with caution.

Great Hardware, But the Pro Does More for Not Much More

Reddit repeatedly nudges 15T buyers toward the 15T Pro: metal frame, 5x periscope zoom, Always-On Display, and a flagship chip — often available for €50–100 more on sale. The standard 15T wins on price, but the value math is tighter than it looks.

Battery Life: Depends Who You Ask

Some 15T owners comfortably hit 15 hours of mixed use. Others barely make it through a workday after updating to HyperOS 3. The divergence is real, poorly understood, and the top recurring complaint in long-term ownership threads.

the 15T gets 2 hours battery life more than the Poco X7 Pro even tho its the same brand, SoC, and the 15T even got a smaller battery capacity?!

Care to explain why? All I've seen here are comments yapping about how bad it is, not explaining how bad it is in reality. I've used it before and I haven't seen any issues with it

I am open to more plastic phones they are lighter and less slippery. Most people keep their phone in a case anyway. My Nothing Phone 2A has better reception than my iPhone 16 pro max in the corner of my home where the wifi signal just barely manages to reach.

I've owned both. 15T Pro and then the 15. I stuck with the 15 - much better device in my opinion. Powerful yet pocketable and I prefer the images out of the 15 than the 15T Pro (which were way too oversaturated for my taste). Also, can't beat the Liquid Metal colourway. 2.6x is a much more versatile focal length than the 5x.

Battery life really improved over the same D8400 in X7 Pro inspite of a lower capacity. If the next iteration can nail the telephoto, it's gonna be really hard midranger to beat

The T series from Xiaomi is a step down line of their flagship phones. The 17 is the actual successor to the 15, not the 15T. That said, there are improvements in the 15T over the 15, like the battery performance, and some minor things but also other aspects that are not like the main camera, the USB port still only gen 2, no LTPO refresh screen and a processor that isn't as powerful as the Snapdragon chip.

You shouldn't need to disable ads on your phone. I don't care how quick it is.

Are we using different phones? I bought mine in November. I'm on 75 charge cycles. I charge my battery once every 1.5 days up to 80%. After 24h I'm usually at 40-30% with light use. With heavy use like 4-5 hours SOT I might have to charge again at the end of the day. Software experience is great, no lags, app crashes, the camera is as good as ever.

I have a 13T and frankly I don't see what's terrible about hyperOS. It has some niggles that I find annoying (and for this reason I'm probably going to switch away from Xiaomi for my next phone), but frankly every other OS has annoying niggles, they're just not as annoying for me personally.

I have used the Xiaomi 15; 15 Ultra and now the 15T pro. When it comes down to the regular 15 vs the 15t pro, i can say the 15 is smaller, fits better in the hand. Camera wise they are very close with the 15T Pro having a better telephoto reach.

Just go for that 15T pro, the flagship processor would be better to last for a longer period

I've used the 15 ultra for 5 months and typing this on a 15t pro and it's amazingly close, even the camera. I would only get the regular 15 if you want a small screen over zoom.

The OS is smooth, fast and efficient. Battery is a beast and updates are delivered regularly and efficiently. The OS has lots of little unique features and functions that sets it apart from other more dated options, and it can be highly customized. After buying a Xiaomi the Samsung I had previously felt dated.

Of all the Chinese phonemakers, this is one I cant get excited about. There used to be a time I had bought every family member a Redmi phone. Nowadays I prefer anything and everything other than Xiaomi. The bloatware, the incessant adult ads, random updates ruining a perfectly operating phone. In my eyes, they went from being value kings to utter trash.

Got one last week after Xiaomi finally launched local website and stock here in Australia. Very happy so far, battery life is insane and the zoom features really are pretty mind boggling. I live in an apartment building and can zoom in on cars 2 blocks up the road to see drivers picking their nose or playing with their phones. Xiaomi OS really isn't that bad either.

Amazing set of hardware, with a careless and incoherent software experience. One of the main reasons I chose this phone over the S25 is the bigger battery, but I'm very disappointed with the SOT, and the overall battery life. My 5 year old A72 after all the degradation lasted almost the exact same. I barely get 4-5 hours of SOT, and I'm not even gaming on the phone.

I also have mine since it came out (early october). It has a good chipset, a good camera, doesn't overheat and battery lasts about 1-1.5 days (regular use including a bit of gaming). Yeah hyper os 3 was pretty lackluster but I don't experience any bugs so I can't really complain

I'm still using Mi 13T and I don't experience any lags, I think because I replaced the batteries maybe. I'm still satisfied with 13T so I'll wait for it to be not usable but for me, Mi 15T is really worth buying but if you have flexible budget go for the pro model.

I am pretty impressed with this phone tbh, got it with a 150 euro discount. Battery is really good imho, camera is comparable to some flagships except if you really wanna zoom in. AI enhancement works nice. Selfie camera is decent, not the best. The screen is superb! Performance wise no complaints either.

Currently using 15T from last few weeks. Got it in a super good deal under just 500 euros along with a free tablet. I've always used Samsung phones but this time I shifted to Xiaomi. The processor is definitely the best at this price. I'm not a camera savvy person, so for me in the normal usage I find no complaints with the Camera too. Screen brightness is great too. Design wise, I love this phone. No big and awkward camera bumps.

Mali is fine. USB 2.0 is a dealbreaker for me. Imagine taking all these photos with these great cameras and having to transfer to a laptop with USB 2.0, ughhhh

When I bought this device the HOS2 is great and more efficient compared to HOS3. After I updated everything went downhill.

I have the global 15T Pro and there's not an ad in sight. I remember having to root my old Poco to get rid of them years back.

Have it for 2 months now, I'm very satisfied so far. But no clue how long will it last. Battery life is around 1 day and something with medium use I'd say. Performance and camera are really good.

I purchased the Xiaomi 15T a week ago, very nice, the only flaw is the battery which doesn't arrive in the evening. I would like to return it because the battery is not the best for a smartphone that costs over €500.

why not the 15t non pro? I bought it for 389 euro, its almost identical to the 15t pro, sure the pro has a slightly faster cpu and 5x zoom instead of 3x zoom and the sides are metal instead of plastic, but other than that they are the same, same size, same screen, etc.

15 because it's flagship. Bought it 2 weeks ago and it's great. Also the smaller form factor is unbeatable.

Xiaomi doesn't maintain their phones well. HyperOS is absolute shit. The selfies on the 15T are awful. The rest is good. I'm using it right now and, as expected, there's a bug in the software. The display is good. Battery life is ok.

I moved from iPhone to Xiaomi.. bought the redmi 15 first to try the brand out, recently bought the 15T.. I am super impressed with it... Never moving back to Apple. The only bad thing I really have is that the battery life on the Redmi 15 is way better than the 15T, but yeah the 15T has way more features

I initially thought the battery life was great, easily lasting a day, but after 3 months, I need to charge it 1.5 times a day. I don't understand why. I never play games, and my usage habits are similar. Is the battery health declining so quickly?

Everything is good from hardware to software. Great as a daily driver. Bought last month, it rocks. Two issues, after updating from HyperOS 2 to 3, the fingerprint is delayed by a millisecond and heart rate from settings was gone. Overall, I like it. Suggestion: don't update to HyperOS 3 yet.

I replaced my Redmi Note 10 Pro phone with a 15T. The only thing I was disappointed with was the camera. The camera is much worse. Other than that, I have no problems with it. The battery lasts a whole day, even though I use it a lot. It's a fast phone, and it hasn't slowed down.

15T doesn't have AOD, just saying. The 15T Pro does have it, but the regular 15T doesn't. It has that fake one which turns off after 10 seconds, but not the one which is on all the time.

The only issue you might face is the battery. It's not terrible, but it could definitely be better. The best screen-on time I got didn't exceed 5 hours, which is pretty bad in 2026.

I've got a 14T since June 2024. There are some unreasonable lag: WhatsApp chat gets archived by themselves; lag in open/close apps, any app; sometimes with rotation unlocked, the status bar goes landscape mode while the phone is in portrait; LTE stops randomly for 2 sec and restart. The phone is good, it has the power to do what I ask, but sometimes it seems that I bought an entry level.
