Summary

The Xiaomi 15T Pro has earned a broadly positive reputation among Reddit users, particularly for its camera system and overall value proposition at its price point. The 5x periscope telephoto lens and 4K 120fps video capabilities are consistently highlighted as standout features that punch above the phone's price class. Battery life opinions are split — many heavy users report comfortably getting through a full day and beyond, while a vocal minority report faster-than-expected degradation after a few months. HyperOS 3 is the most debated aspect of the phone, with some users praising its improvement and others pointing to lingering bugs and an iOS-inspired interface that feels rough in execution. This phone appeals most to photography enthusiasts and power users who want flagship-tier camera hardware without paying Ultra prices.

Pros

  • 5x periscope telephoto with OIS delivers zoom performance that's rare at this price point, with users regularly praising detailed long-range shots and impressive portrait results
  • 4K 120fps video recording is a genuine differentiator — users switching from other flagships describe being blown away by slow-motion quality
  • Dimensity 9400+ chip performs on par with Snapdragon 8 Elite in most real-world tasks, runs cool during gaming, and handles emulation including PS2 and GameCube without issues
  • Fast wired (120W) and wireless charging, plus IP68 water resistance, add practical durability and convenience that many competitors skip at this price
  • Street pricing regularly falls well below MSRP — users in Europe frequently report paying €500-600 with tablet bundles, making the value-per-spec ratio hard to beat
  • 5 OS updates and 6 years of security patches represent a serious long-term software commitment for a non-flagship line

Cons

  • USB 2.0 speed is a genuine pain point for users shooting large 4K files — transferring footage to a laptop is noticeably slow, and no workaround exists short of wireless transfer
  • HyperOS 3 introduced new bugs for some users post-update, including icon glitches, refresh rate defaulting to 60Hz, and browser scaling issues — though many report a clean experience on the latest build
  • The 144Hz refresh rate lacks LTPO adaptive control unlike the Xiaomi 15, meaning it doesn't intelligently scale down to save battery — effectively making the high refresh rate less efficient
  • Battery life shows inconsistency across users: while most get through a day, a subset report needing 1.5 charges after 3 months of use, raising questions about long-term capacity retention
  • Ultrawide camera is mediocre compared to the Xiaomi 15's 50MP ultrawide, and the selfie camera is consistently described as underwhelming — a clear cost-cutting area
  • No ultrasonic fingerprint sensor or USB 3.0+, features the Xiaomi 15 includes — makes it a harder sell when both phones are similarly priced in some markets

The OS Is the Wildcard

HyperOS 3 divides 15T Pro owners more than any hardware spec. Some users on the latest build report a smooth, nearly bug-free experience, while others hit persistent issues after updating — suggesting ROM version and usage patterns matter more than the OS itself.

A Flagship Camera at a Mid-Flagship Price

Reddit's consensus is clear: the 5x periscope telephoto and 4K 120fps video are the 15T Pro's strongest selling points and genuinely difficult to find at this price class. Users switching from iPhones and Samsung flagships consistently describe the camera as a pleasant surprise.

The 15T Pro vs. Xiaomi 15 Debate Has No Easy Answer

Users who owned both phones disagree on which is better. The 15T Pro wins on zoom reach, wireless charging, and video specs; the Xiaomi 15 counters with a Snapdragon chip, LTPO display, better ultrawide, and USB 3.0. Your priorities decide the winner — and in many markets, they cost the same.

Pros: Premium design, IP68 certification. Larger and brighter OLED panel with Dolby Vision. Excellent camera performance, stills and videos, impressive telephoto cam. Fast wired and wireless charging. Dependable battery life. Potent chipset. Feature-rich HyperOS with 4 years of support. Cons: No AF on the ultrawide, the selfie camera is underwhelming. 144Hz refresh rate is a gimmick. The wired charging is slightly downgraded. Becomes hot when pushed.

This phone is already €600 at launch, make it make sense. Edit: same stores that sell it day 1 for €600 sold the 14T Pro at €700 on its launch. Meanwhile, every other phone maker has slightly higher prices — the S25 series is still more expensive than this phone more than half a year after it came out.

They took a Redmi K80 Ultra, improved the camera a little bit but still left the focus bug, reduced the battery capacity by almost 2000 mAh and installed the cheapest speakers and vibration motor compared to the best vibration motor and speakers on the market with the K80U. In China they paid just over 250€.

It is €600 only on paper. You can buy it straight from Xiaomi website and you will get a charger and also a tablet (or TV or something else). On top of that you will probably get a 10% discount. I've bought it a few days ago for ~£580.

I've owned both. 15T Pro and then the 15. I stuck with the 15 — much better device in my opinion. Powerful yet pocketable and I prefer the images out of the 15 than the 15T Pro (which were way too oversaturated for my taste). Also, can't beat the Liquid Metal colourway. 2.6x is a much more versatile focal length than the 5x.

I have the 512gb version and it's pretty amazing. The processor is very powerful and the camera beats iPhones imho. Video is good too but the standard bitrate is very high so videos take a while to transfer (in 4K at least). It comes with pro features like focus peaking and zebra lines for exposure.

Are we using different phones? I bought mine in November. I'm on 75 charge cycles. I charge my battery once every 1.5 days up to 80%. After 24h I'm usually at 40-30% with light use. Software experience is great, no lags, app crashes, the camera is as good as ever. I run SDMAID every few weeks to clear app caches. I'm currently on HOS 3.0.13.0.

The T series from Xiaomi is a step down line of their flagship phones. There are improvements in the 15T over the 15, like the battery performance, and some minor things but also other aspects that aren't as good like the main camera, the USB port still only gen 2, no LTPO refresh screen, and a processor that isn't as powerful as the Snapdragon chip.

Totally worth it! I did the change from iPhone 16 Pro — it was an excellent phone, smooth for gaming, good cameras, really good screen. I'm now just regretting that I sold it to buy a Xiaomi 17 Pro Max.

I have the 512GB, it's a phone. Doesn't seem much different from my previous Poco F5 Pro apart from much better battery. Has some ability to be used in the rain which is nice. Camera is good but not life changing.

I went with the 15T Pro because of the wireless charging — a must for me.

Got one last week after Xiaomi finally launched local website and stock here in Australia. Very happy so far, battery life is insane and the zoom features really are pretty mind boggling. I live in an apartment building and can zoom in on cars 2 blocks up the road to see drivers picking their nose or playing with their phones. Xiaomi OS really isn't that bad either.

Same experience here with 3.0.13. 2 days of battery, smooth, no crashes, no bugged icons or squared ones, Vivaldi browser has no problems at all. It's almost as if he has a corrupted system or some bugged/low quality app. I would make a backup and factory reset it.

I've used the 15 Ultra for 5 months and I'm typing this on a 15T Pro and it's amazingly close, even the camera. I would only get the regular 15 if you want a small screen over zoom.

No experience with iPhone, but I do have the 15T Pro and it's an awesome phone. The cameras are great and really surprised me. The performance is great too, can't really fault the phone tbh.

The ultrawide camera is most definitely better on the regular 15. Also the 15T Pro is still missing some things, like ultrasound fingerprint sensor and USB 3.0+.

Amazing set of hardware, with a careless and incoherent software experience. One of the main reasons I chose this phone over the S25 is the bigger battery, but I'm very disappointed with the SOT, and the overall battery life. My 5 year old A72 after all the degradation lasted almost the exact same. I barely get 4-5 hours of SOT, and I'm not even gaming on the phone.

I also have mine since it came out (early october). It has a good chipset, a good camera, doesn't overheat and battery lasts about 1-1.5 days (regular use including a bit of gaming). Yeah HyperOS 3 was pretty lackluster but I don't experience any bugs so I can't really complain.

I am very happy with my 15T Pro, honestly I don't think you can get a better phone and cameras for the price. Around 500 Euros where I live.

It is totally worth it! I love photography, so I took this phone overseas and captured so many photos. I was honestly surprised by the quality. The night shots and videos are incredibly clear. I even compared it to my friend's new iPhone 17, and her night video quality just didn't hold up. The 15T Pro is excellent, even in low light. The battery is also impressive. I don't even need to carry a power bank anymore.

I took the 1TB version because it was only 20€ more expensive than the 512GB so I was like, why not. I doubt I'll ever fill them but taking videos in 4K takes a lot of space.

If photography is your main game then 5x zoom on the 15T Pro is a decent option, especially for portraits and far shots. The 15 is more balanced overall, but that smaller battery drains up quickly. Both are solid — depends if you value ultrawide or zoom more. Plus the Mediatek 9400+ optimization is really good in the 15T Pro.

Yes I have the 1TB version and it's good! I've 'only' 260GB of storage used at the moment. But because there's no option to extend your storage, this was the best decision for me. Would recommend!

Mali GPU is fine. USB 2.0 is a dealbreaker for me. Imagine taking all these photos with these great cameras and having to transfer to a laptop with USB 2.0, ughhhh.

I moved from iPhone 13 to 15T Pro 2 weeks ago and I love my Xiaomi! I thought it would be impossible, because I loved my iPhone 13 a lot — the flip 6 couldn't make me leave iPhone 13, but 15T Pro made me leave and I don't want to go back to iPhone at all. The camera is great, I like the system too.

I've had mine for just a few days. I agree with the OS parts — it really feels like using a knockoff Android version. Installing the Microsoft Launcher helped massively. Switching apps is much more annoying than on other phones, mostly because the quick switch doesn't work well.

When I bought this device, HOS2 was great and more efficient compared to HOS3. After I updated everything went downhill.

Yes, disappointing battery life. I have a feeling my regular 15 gets more battery life than my 15T Pro.

Problem is HyperOS 3 — after the update, gallery stopped showing WhatsApp images and videos (fixed after a subsequent update). Camera has absolutely lost HDR in all selfie as well as back cameras even though HDR is shown as on. The gallery app icon is a copy of the iOS Photos app icon.

I bought this phone back in late November/early December. It was running HyperOS 2. After the HyperOS 3 update it has become very laggy. Anyone else?

I have used the Xiaomi 15, 15 Ultra and now the 15T Pro. Camera wise they are matching. I prefer the 9400+ over the Snapdragon Elite — it's more stable, less hot and combined with a larger 5500mAh battery, it's a no brainer.

The battery is not standard 5500mAh — stop the nonsense. We just got a few phones with 6k+ batteries so it is definitely not standard! Active use results for the 15T Pro are amazing — around 17h with non-stop mixed usage. I consider myself a heavy user, I use the cameras a lot and play games, I work from 7am and I still didn't finish the day without battery. Lowest I was at 11pm was 17%.

Just got a 15T Pro. Xiaomi's airdrop solution is insane. I just instantly drop all my pics/videos I take to my partner with an iPhone. It's been a lifesaver being able to replicate AirDrop and easily makes up for only being on USB 2.0.

I moved from OnePlus 11 to Xiaomi 15T Pro. It's over 4 months now. As time is passing the phone has become super buttery useful. It's out of imagination. Main camera, no issues — using it extensively for YouTube content creation. Because of the rounded corners it's just comfortable. Highly recommended.

Aside from decent photography (especially the 5x telephoto), it has no other redeeming qualities. The HyperOS 3.0 upgrade didn't fix old bugs; instead, it introduced new ones. The system is a blatant copy of iOS's appearance, but the details are rough, resulting in a significant letdown in user experience. I initially thought the battery life was great, easily lasting a day, but after 3 months, I need to charge it 1.5 times a day.

I'm reading this from my 15T Pro like this can't be real. I have the global variant and nearly everything the OP mentioned is a non-issue or things that can easily be resolved. I've downloaded all types of stuff and still have 1.5 to 2 day battery life and zero lag. I have a Pixel 8 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro, and an S22 Ultra and I happen to find them all mostly equal.

The most obvious point is that the 15 is smaller but has a high-end chip. The flagship doesn't support 4K 120fps but the T model does? That's insane. 2.6x vs 5x on the T models. Neck and neck especially the Pro model — it's really good.

If you prefer smaller phones and want a Snapdragon processor, choose Mi 15. But if you don't mind a bigger phone and want a better camera, I would go for the 15T Pro — because it has a periscope telephoto lens which is very good and pretty rare at this price point.

I got my 15T Pro a week ago and it is beautiful. I'm coming from Samsung and I noticed the difference with the OS. I got the update to HyperOS 3.0 but I feel Samsung's is smoother. I needed to change the refresh rate from 60Hz (Automatic by default) to 144Hz permanently to avoid that tiny lag when scrolling. However I'm noticing my battery is draining faster now, probably for that change. I'm happy with my Xiaomi though.

I had my latest Samsung devices for years — S25, S22 Ultra — and as a photography enthusiast, I can tell you for sure that the photos come out very bad on Samsung. It's a disappointment between the bad photography software and the cameras. I switched for the first time to a Chinese device and to Xiaomi. It was very, very different and much better for photography.

The Xiaomi 15 also has LTPO technology while the Xiaomi 15T Pro does not.
