Summary

The Redmi Note 15 Pro+ 5G is a durability-focused midranger that Reddit treats with a mix of appreciation and frustration. Its headline strengths — a massive 6500mAh battery with 100W fast charging, IP66/IP68/IP69K water resistance, and a flat 120Hz AMOLED display — genuinely impress users who've bought it, but the phone faces relentless criticism for its price-to-hardware ratio. Most threads agree it's a capable daily driver that won't let down battery-dependent users, though the consensus is that it's overpriced relative to alternatives like the Poco F8 Pro or Xiaomi 15T. HyperOS bloatware, ads baked into system apps, and a weak 8MP ultrawide camera remain recurring complaints across multiple communities.

Pros

  • 6500mAh battery with 100W charging that fills up in ~30-33 minutes — users upgrading from older phones like the S21 FE report the battery life as a transformative improvement
  • IP66/IP68/IP69K multi-standard water and dust resistance, including certified 24-hour submersion at 2 meters and SGS-verified drop protection from 2.5 meters
  • Flat 120Hz AMOLED display with 3840Hz PWM dimming and 12-bit color — one user switching from a Galaxy Note 9 called the screen quality 'cosmic' compared to their old Samsung
  • eSIM support, which is rare at this price tier and highlighted as a genuine differentiator in the global market
  • 4 years of OS updates and 6 years of security patches, offering meaningful long-term software commitment for a midrange device
  • 200MP main camera with OIS delivers solid shots in daylight and concert settings, and JerryRigEverything's durability test praised the overall build quality

Cons

  • LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage at €499-€550 launch price — the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ shipped with LPDDR5 and UFS 3.1, making this a clear generational regression on internals
  • 8MP ultrawide camera is considered embarrassing by Reddit at this price point — one user noted it's the same module from the Redmi Note 8 series
  • No wireless charging, no headphone jack, and no microSD card slot, while cheaper alternatives in the lineup retain at least one of these
  • Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 (global variant) or Dimensity 7400-Ultra depending on market — both outperformed by the Poco X7 Pro or F8 Pro, which are available at lower or similar street prices
  • HyperOS comes loaded with bloatware and in-app ads, and the Chinese ROM variant has reported notification delivery delays for apps like WhatsApp and Messenger
  • Video recording has a returning focus pulsing issue and caps out at 4K30 for rear — no 4K60, and the front camera lacks 4K video support entirely

The Battery Is Great. Everything Around It Is Negotiable.

Reddit users who bought the Note 15 Pro+ almost universally praise the 6500mAh cell and 100W charging, but the conversation consistently pivots to what was cut to get there — no wireless charging, no headphone jack, no microSD, and memory specs that trail its own predecessor.

Is Xiaomi Pricing This Phone Against Itself?

Multiple threads point out that the Poco F8 Pro and Xiaomi 15T land at similar or only slightly higher price points with significantly better chipsets, cameras, and in the 15T's case, a 5x Leica telephoto. The Note 15 Pro+ struggles to justify its €499+ tag when Xiaomi's own portfolio undercuts it.

The 200MP Number Hides an 8MP Problem

Photographers considering this phone for concerts or wide-angle shots hit a wall quickly — the main sensor is genuinely capable, but the ultrawide is an 8MP fixed-focus relic that Reddit users compare unfavorably to options costing far less. For multi-camera use cases, the Note 15 Pro+ isn't the answer.

I like Xiaomi's phones and even HyperOS is decent, but man do they need to figure out their naming schemes. Very often the model with '5G' in the name is an entirely different package compared to its non-5G counterpart. Models from previous years get re-labeled as new ones all the time.

Looks like the global Redmi Note series seems to be coasting for another generation with downgrades on the global models, with no drastic improvements to hardware. As someone who had a Redmi Note 9 Pro when they were still current, it really feels like the series hasn't progressed significantly since the 9 and 10 series.

Redmi is messed up after the Redmi note 10 series.

Ram LPDDR4X and UFS 2.2 at 500€ is crazy overpriced, plus soc isn't that good. 300€ is his place if they wanna sell it a lot.

This phone has better IP rating + better glass protection, much better battery capacity with significantly faster charging speed, bigger primary camera sensor, higher PPI and brighter screen, much longer updates, and a much better SoC — 38% better single core and 60% better multi core CPU according to Geekbench.

All that durability to protect the 8MP ultrawide from the Redmi note 8. What are they gonna do for the note 16 series — screw global customers again with the same old camera?

15T Pro is another league... and of course more future proof with 3x more raw power.

Should have done a more realistic drop test: drop the phone on a typical road instead of wooden flooring from 1.5 meters.

Shrinkflation kicking in all over. Every manufacturer is now just trying to sell you junk, or $2k phone with no major upgrades.

The Redmi Note 13 pro+ had ddr5 and ufs 3.1, criminal that they're just going backwards.

After Redmi Note 10 Pro they really fall off, in EU realme is the best budget choice nowadays.

You should just get the Xiaomi 15T. It's got a dedicated telephoto optical zoom, so the zoom quality should be better than the Note Pro+. The Xiaomi is also much stronger performance-wise and has better storage. On Shopee, the Note 15 Pro+ is 26k for 512GB while the 15T is only 24k for 512GB despite the Redmi being the weaker phone.

I had one Xiaomi Redmi phone once and it told me I need a Xiaomi account to enable developer mode. I tossed it and will never buy this again.

I'd say the Poco X7 pro is the best budget phone now that it has fallen below 200€, the Redmi line is overall not worth it anymore.

Sony Xperia is a flagship but still has a dedicated microSD card slot. CMF by Nothing phones too have that. These greedy companies are removing microSD card slots to sell higher storage options for more money.

I personally prefer the Poco X7 pro for the price — it demolishes that 7400 in performance but cuts back in cameras and build quality.

Note 15 Pro+ considering your priorities. The battery and camera are leagues above its price.

For the specs to price ratio it is not worth it. I'd rather go with Poco F8 Pro to get most out of your money.

For the price of a Redmi note 15 pro+ it might be a better option to buy a Xiaomi 15T or a Poco X7 Pro.

500€+ for a very mediocre midranger is outrageous. In my country I could acquire 14T Pro/15T on a discount for similar or cheaper price, yet blow this mockery out of the water. Literally long gone are the days of Redmi being a solid value proposition.

Damn how good this phone looks... that near-bezel-less display is gorgeous, and gaming on it? Absolute joy. CODM and Genshin run silky smooth at high settings with that mediatek D7400-ultra chip. Solid build, big battery, and colors that pop.

I tested at the store. For opening apps everything is almost instant with 15T series. Note 15 Pro 5G was fast but not as fast.

I moved from iPhone 15 Pro Max to 15T Pro and I'm happy with everything — battery, camera etc. Only issue I faced in the global model is network band steering and I have to split my WiFi into separate bands to make it work.

These phones suck. Xiaomi's best offerings are the Redmi Turbo (Poco internationally) phones.

I've dropped my Xiaomi phones weekly, often from full height on tile and cement - no cracks or even marks.

I have this 15 pro+ 5G and it's actually decent given the cost and feels nice in the hands. The major drawback of the Notes is no wireless charging, which the POCOs have.

Would have been an ok device if the launch price was 200$ less. Now at 550$ launch price, this is an insane scam like device along side whole Redmi note line up. Ever since Redmi note 12 the whole line up has been a large disappointment.

The last decent YoY upgrade for the Redmi Note and T series was in 2023 arguably, from 12 to 13. Since then it's been like 1 or 2 improvements/additions a year, very underwhelming.

After four years with the S22 Ultra I bought a new phone. I didn't want to spend a lot of money and this Redmi Note 15 was a fit for my budget. Although the performance is a lot better than my 4 year old previous phone, there are a few situations where it is clear that it is a mid level phone. Overall and so far the phone is achieving everything I need throughout the day.

Once Xiaomi became a well known brand and got enough market share, they have been releasing downgraded versions of their mid and low-range phones and upping the price of flagships. Gone are the days of Mi 10T, RN8/10P etc — the 12 and 13 Note Pro series was good, onwards not so much.

The 15 Note pro Plus battery life is great. I sent it back though because the charging was too slow for me. I came from the 11 Note pro Plus that charged in 15 minutes flat — small battery but such a fast charging phone.

The Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus prioritizes endurance. That massive cell and fast charging will fix a 3-hour screen-on time instantly. Just brace yourself for HyperOS bloat, but the battery gains are worth it.

I have a friend who has the 13 pro plus and it constantly stutters — that's a lack of optimization, but it works fine otherwise.

I bought a Redmi Note Pro Plus 5G in China and I'm having connectivity problems in Brazil despite it theoretically being compatible. It won't connect to 5G at all and the 4G connection freezes.

Solid specs for the price, the 5520mah battery alone makes it worth considering.

Compared to Note 10 pro it is a downgrade. No SD slot, no 3.5mm, macro camera is gone, same 8mp UW module. SoC is only marginally better in CPU performance. This phone is not worth it.
