Summary

The Hisense QD6QF is a budget QLED TV that Reddit largely treats as an acceptable compromise for price-conscious buyers who need a large screen without spending much. Sentiment is split but leaning mixed-negative among enthusiasts, while casual users tend to report satisfaction for the price. The TV has been found at Costco, Best Buy, and Walmart in sizes ranging from 43" to 100", with the 75" hitting as low as $379 during sales. It uses a direct-lit VA panel with Quantum Dot phosphors, Fire TV OS on some units and Google TV on others, and lands squarely in the entry-level tier with picture quality to match.

Pros

  • Exceptional size-to-price ratio — a 75" unit for $379 is routinely cited as unmatched in QLED options at this price tier
  • Noticeably better color and brightness than older 4K LCD panels, with users upgrading from similarly-priced Hisense A65K models reporting visible improvements
  • Rtings rates it as the 'best cheap TV' in the budget category, and users confirm it performs adequately for casual streaming and movie watching in medium-lit rooms
  • Works well as a secondary or outdoor TV where extreme picture quality isn't required — one user reported using it successfully outdoors for over a year at an effective $169 after Costco bundling discount
  • Some long-term owners report 2+ years of reliable use with consistent picture quality, suggesting durability is not universally poor

Cons

  • Direct-lit backlight causes noticeable edge shadowing and poor black levels, with one user describing dark content as 'horrible' and blacks appearing more gray than black
  • Fire TV OS version suffers from significant lag on menus and input switching, with users recommending external streaming sticks (Apple TV, Nvidia Shield) as workarounds
  • Game mode washes out colors on consoles like Xbox Series S, making games look dim and desaturated compared to older 1080p TVs
  • The r/4kTV subreddit's buying guide explicitly recommends against the entire QD6Q line, citing poor QA/QC, weak processing, and motion handling that doesn't match Rtings scores
  • VA panel means viewing angles are limited — not suitable for wide seating arrangements or viewers off to the side
  • Startup time is slow, and some units exhibit a recurring Ethernet dropout bug when waking from standby, though it self-resolves within 30 seconds

Game Mode Is the QD6QF's Worst Feature

Multiple users report that enabling Game Mode on the QD6QF produces washed-out, dim visuals on consoles — worse than the standard picture mode. The workaround is manual: disable motion smoothing and post-processing, then use a standard preset for low latency without sacrificing color.

The Best 75" TV You Can Buy for Under $400 (With Caveats)

At $379 for 75 inches, the QD6QF genuinely has no QLED competition in its price bracket. But enthusiast communities are quick to point out that the TCL QM5K at $400 for 50" delivers a better picture per dollar — the QD6QF wins on raw screen size, not raw quality.

Fire TV or Google TV? The OS Lottery Matters More Than You Think

The QD6QF ships with different operating systems depending on retailer — Costco units have been reported with Fire TV, while some Best Buy units run Google TV. Fire TV owners consistently report more lag and frustration, while Google TV users tend to be happier with responsiveness.

No one believes us when we tell them it's that cheap for a reason.

It's likely the same panel as the A6/A65K but with QD phosphors and fire OS. Performance should be very similar, but with a slight bump in color gamut. Overall, a decently-executed cheap panel has very few pain points now. Off-axis viewing isn't great and there are picture quality issues, but the sort of issues that 80% of people won't notice unless you point it out to them.

It's the only QLED option in this price range for a 75-inch. It offers better color than the cheaper TCL F35 and costs $100 less than the similarly-specced TCL Q651G. I mean this is the clear pick.

Any TV at that price is just going to be overall pretty mediocre/entry level. There's nothing wrong with it but it's not going to blow your socks off either.

I got 2 of these for $300 at last year's black Friday sales. They work pretty well, I do have both of them hooked up to sound bars since built in TV speakers generally suck.

They've really turned their image around recently. Their higher end offerings are now best in class for mid tier TVs on Rtings. I don't know how much quality you can get at $269, but for $2K you can get a pretty decent 85" model.

We have one of these 75" low end Hisense's in our rec room that we got from Walmart. Its actually pretty terrible. Definitely wish that we had spent a little bit more and got one of these low end mini-LED models. Live sports are bad, movies are bad, dark content is horrible, etc. IMO its not worth saving $150-200 now to have something you'll never be happy with.

I hate LG. I will not buy another. 24 month warranty. TV burnt out at 25 or 26 months. They will not sell replacement parts.

Have had my 55 inch of this type of model (QLED) for a year now and haven't had any issues. Hisense is the king of budget tvs like these, it's obviously not gonna be the greatest looking TV but it's completely serviceable.

Pretty common knowledge in the TV world that the fire TVs are cheap junk even if you're just a casual follower. I don't know why Amazon slaps their name on junk at times.

It's worked out great! Perfect outdoor tv, not the brightest picture but better than I thought. FireOS is kinda slow but again, for $169 I'm thrilled with it. Wouldn't really change anything at that price.

The Samsung Crystal is garbage. The Hisense is cheaper and better quality. The only problem with Hisense is the operating system. Which LG beats hands down. If you're buying from Costco, spring for the extra warranty. If it's under $500, it's only $34.99 for the 5 year Allstate warranty. Well worth the peace of mind.

From what I saw the Hisense might be the best deal. Lots of hate for the Samsung and LG models from what I saw, but I'm still looking for dissenting opinions.

Another TV rule: when buying a cheap TV the bigger the TV the worse it's going to be. I have learned this lesson the hard way with Samsung's cheap line.

I've been using the 65" Hisense QD6 for about a month now. It's great! I replaced a Hisense A65K after accidentally breaking the LCD panel and the QD6 is noticeably brighter and more vivid in color. My only complaint is the TV seems to shut down the ethernet port when off for extended periods of time. This leads to a popup when you turn the TV back on but it resolves itself within 30 seconds or so.

I bought one today for $269, I'm going to use in my bedroom. I like it so far, the picture quality is really good, definitely a major step up from the older and smaller 1080p TV I used to have. I don't like the Fire TV OS that is built in, but it's not a problem since I just plugged a Roku stick into it and am using that.

Its the TV. The game mode on these is causing the issue.

I just bought a 75" Qd7 Mini Led and the picture and refresh are phenomenal but my problem with game mode is the filter it applies makes the colors look bad. Wish I could take off the filter but keep game mode for low latency.

I bought the QD6 65 from Costco just before Christmas while they were on sale. Mine works flawlessly. Tried it with the Firestick, and the TV works faster than the Firestick by a bunch. Picture is great, very bright color and great resolution.

The ROKU OS is good too. I suggest you exchange for U87N or U86N, those are the better TVs. Fool proof.

99% of them are disposable TVs basically. They use the shittiest of shitty chips that can't be replaced, and fail quicker than a launch model 360.

Helped a family member mount one of these last week. I was impressed with it for the price. Gets fairly bright, but blacks are more on the gray side. Best 75" tv if you're on a tight budget imo.

I have a Samsung in the living room and got this for the sun room, definitely a difference but in isolation, I wouldn't be able to tell. This is awesome! Blacks not OLED black but pretty good! OS seems low on horsepower but clean, overall I'm really really happy.

The software is so terrible on these cheap TVs. It's so slow. I returned my TCL and spent more for an LG. Its software is blazing fast. I couldn't be happier spending the extra cash.

In general game mode is stupid. All you need to do is turn off all motion smoothing and post processing manually then select a picture preset like standard and then you have all the color and shine of standard without the lag and you don't have to rely on game mode.

I got 85 inches QD6QV and given the price point the TV is great for medium lit rooms. Only issue I see so far is VIDA OS is not supporting some apps like Jellyfin.

According to rtings best budget TVs, it is the 'best cheap TV.' If you want to spend a bit more, there are some other options at that link.

Hisense is a decent brand. They've previously been used to contract manufacture Insignia displays for Best Buy along with LG. The differentiator is going to be in high-end displays like OLED. Also, the level of support/warranty coverage can vary drastically.

Hisense TVs are amazing. Had a floor model from Walmart for 4 years, always on, never off. No burn in or problems whatsoever. They are the Nokia of TVs.
