Gamers Love It, Movie Watchers Don't

The Hisense QD7N is a budget-friendly QLED TV that has earned a solid reputation among value-conscious buyers, particularly gamers who want 4K 144Hz without spending big. Reddit sentiment skews positive for its price-to-performance ratio, with users consistently praising its vibrant colors and low input lag, while acknowledging that picture quality falls behind more expensive options. It's a TV that satisfies most buyers who go in with realistic expectations, but frustrates those who expect OLED-like contrast on a sub-$500 budget. The 2025 Mini-LED model is a meaningful step up from the 2024 edge-lit version, so the model year matters significantly. For non-gamers or dark-room movie watchers, the community generally points toward the U7N or U8N instead.

Reddit is full of buyers who didn't realize the 2024 QD7N lacks local dimming entirely while the 2025 model adds Mini-LED — a difference that dramatically changes picture quality and which version is actually worth buying.
Several community members mention early failures, software bricks after firmware updates, and difficult warranty experiences — enough that multiple users recommend buying the longest extended warranty available before anything else.
ehh... it's an el cheapo Tv. It's just not a good Tv. bad native contrast, no local dimming to improve it, poor brightness.. But it is a big TV for cheap so there is that I guess.
View Original CommentThe 2024 has no local dimming. Deceptive image and description displayed there at Walmart.com. That feature makes a significant difference.
View Original CommentSamsung TVs are terribly calibrated and it gives people some bad biases. But this tv seems to peak at around 400 nits so I can see why you'd probably be unhappy with it. Its brightness is that big of an issue for you I say just return it, you're not going to be able to fix it because it isn't a malfunction it just won't get that bright.
View Original CommentThis is an IPS TV meaning it will have great viewing angles but poor contrast in a dark room. It's got accurate colors, gamma, and gets bright enough for most people. Theater night present with warm 1 color temp is your best bet but if you are watching mostly HDR and night time viewing, U7N is much better.
View Original CommentBased on rtings this is the breakdown: The Hisense U6/U6N provides better overall picture quality than the Hisense QD7N QLED. The U6N has an excellent local dimming feature to improve its black levels, and it gets brighter in HDR, so it delivers a much more impactful HDR experience. On the other hand, the QD7 is the better option for gamers since it has HDMI 2.1 bandwidth, 4k @ 144Hz, and better VRR functionality.
View Original CommentI have one. Got it 5 months ago. Really enjoy it. Price was around $530 for the 75". Wish I had stepped up to the 85" but, happy with my selection. You should definitely adjust the settings. I'm still making adjustments to make picture and color. Love the built in Dolby Vision and Atmos. I had a 40" Samsung before this upgrade and had it for over 8 years. This Hisense is a major improvement.
View Original CommentConsidering it's the only 65" TV with more than 60hz for well under 1000 bucks ($470 after tax) I am very pleased to have bought it this Christmas.
View Original CommentHave had my 75" for about 6 weeks and really love it. Don't think you can find a better TV for the money right now. Only issue has been a couple instances of glitchiness with the FireTV, but they could be cleared by re-doing the search or re-starting the show.
View Original CommentI got the 85" for $798 delivered, unboxed and they even installed the feet and placed it up on my entertainment center. Unreal deal. Simply an outstanding TV. Also pretty happy it included 24 GB of hard drive space for the apps and gives me a few hours for recording off my iPTV.
View Original CommentI have the 75 inch and honestly was blown away with it, especially the price ($749 as of 8/6, and it has dropped another $100 since on Best Buy). You will want to connect to a soundbar, it has Dolby Atmos but the speakers are meh…otherwise it does contend with a lot of the high end TVs on the market. And 144 hz with game mode option to see how many frames per rate you are actually getting). Google tv is so crisp and quick response, no lag. Playing PS5 on it is amazing.
View Original CommentI have the 75" version of this, it's actually pretty good for the money. You're basically paying for advanced gaming features in liue of local dimming. It is a qled full array backlit panel and does look pretty amazing in well lit rooms. My advice is to use cinema night mode for everything. It supports 144hz on both HDMI 2.1 ports iirc. It's basically the cheapest TV with the features it has. The only time I can complain is in dark environment with dark scenes, blacks just aren't black enough.
View Original CommentNice man, congrats! I bought the 100QD7N and zero regrets! Got it for $1399 after certificates!
View Original CommentUPDATE: After reading all of the replies I received (most very helpful, some not at all) I decided to return my TV. I exchanged it for a U7 which cost a few hundred dollars more. Right off the bat, many of you were right that the U7 looks so much better and brighter. I watched the Padres/Dodgers battle it out and love how this new tv performed.
View Original CommentI have the same tv. It's great for the price, but also it's a little janky. I've had mine like 4 months I guess, and it just started crashing google tv. I reset to factory settings and it seems better now but yeah.
View Original CommentU7N over this imo. if u can swing the extra budget, its worth it.
View Original CommentIf it's not too late, get the longest warranty you can. Be prepared for it to die in 2-5 years.
View Original CommentI bought that exact tv as well. 65". I've had it for about a week now. The contrast isn't the best. However, it's a very vibrant display. The native 144hz really makes a difference compared to a 60hz display. And a 65" for under $500 with those qualities is really hard to pass up. Once I fiddled around with the settings for about a hour, the video quality is looking good. At that price point, it really offers a lot for the money.
View Original CommentI'm not a display expert, but I've had the QD7 for about 4-5 months and I love it. It has worked with no issues so far (knock on wood). The display is great for ps5 imho, the apps work great. Only con would be no local dimming. But I've never had that before on a tv so I don't know what I'm missing lol
View Original CommentI have the 85 inch model and absolutely love it play call of duty on ps5 all the time with 120hz it my living room tv and is great. Nice big screen with great color!
View Original CommentI've had my 65" QD7 for a few weeks now, and I'm pretty impressed with it thus far. Especially for the price. I paid $399 + tax and 2 years extended warranty. Total came out to $486 from Best Buy. Delivery was perfect, and the TV arrived in perfect condition. I couldn't afford anything OLED, the U7/U8, or others I was looking at with gaming features. I really wanted something that could utilize all the features of my PS5, XBOX Series X/S, and gaming PC. This is my very first 4K TV, and so far, satisfied.
View Original CommentMine has been amazing, notice some minor light bleed on blacks but nothing crazy, so much better than my 65" TCL.
View Original CommentGreat. I picked up the 55 inch version for a second bedroom and it's sharp as a tack. For under $500 it's an incredible deal.
View Original CommentI just got ours hooked up, and it is fantastic. The color is amazing, and the quality of the screen is great. The only thing I do not like is when it is in 16x9 mode; I notice light bleeding around the black frames, not in full screen, though.
View Original CommentI got this one in 50 inches for 278 (open box on sale). It's pretty nice my biggest issue is that its processing system is unfortunately slow. Also I don't like the fire tv system. So I'll probably get an Apple TV eventually.
View Original CommentI had the 85 inch for a few weeks. It was great for the price. Better than expected. I returned for the C4 because Oled picture was superior. I would buy again if I needed a lower cost TV.
View Original CommentYeah it's a cheap tv without local dimming and absolutely horrendous contrast. Did you not go on Rtings and read the reviews.
View Original CommentJust got a 65inch qd7. It's a bad tv. Blacks are brown, whites are yellowish and watching sports on this is awful. Fast moving objects become all blurry or even double and triple. You better get a tcl in the same price range.
View Original CommentI bought this 65QD7N for gaming and it's been a nightmare. It can't produce 120hz, 144hz or the so called 240hz without causing games to crash. I was using a 48 in OLED that worked fine but I really wanted a bigger screen. Hisense has no customer service. I could not register it because it keeps saying the S/N is wrong.
View Original CommentI bought this exact same TV a few months ago, at 100$CAD less if I remember correctly, but I ended up returning it because of its low contrast bugging me too much. It only looked good in a very bright room.
View Original CommentCheck for DSE. Hisense gave me a full refund for this problem. Nice colors, poor blacks (just grays) on dark scenes, wide viewing. Mediocre uniformity especially visible on uniform color scenes.
View Original CommentThat's a lot to pay for a TV that might die in 2 years. Best Buy tried to talk me into a slightly cheaper model the other day, but my current Hisense died after 2 years.
View Original CommentMine just shit out last night after 3 years. Big screen in a shitty machine. Replaced it with a Sony bravia 3, I'm hoping this one lasts longer.
View Original CommentAfter 5 months, mine went out lines popped up out of nowhere under warranty and they had to field destroy it.
View Original CommentSadly after less than 6 months my Hisense TV is bugged on the software side. The issues I've had are updates bricking the ability to turn off the TV easily with HDMI CEC.
View Original CommentI personally have both 75inch Q7 and tcl 65inch 751G. Picture quality is way better on the tcl 751G 2023 model. I got my 75inch Q7 hisense 2-3 months ago from bestbuy when it was on sale. But the picture quality is mediocre specially the uneven gray/blacks and bad backlit.
View Original CommentNo hisense qd7n 2024 does not have local dimming as it is edge lit tv. I had it and it white patches all over the screen especially in the corners in black background. The blacks will be grey. Looks terrible in uniform pictures. Mine was so bad that hisense agreed to give me a full refund after 5 months. If you still can return buy mini led hisense like qd7 2025, u65qf or u75qg.
View Original CommentPerforms well in a dimly or dark room, but the brightness isn't enough for an apartment with bright/large windows which is disappointing, but probably should have been obvious with a peak brightness of 400 nits. The refresh rate is nice and the picture quality is good in a dimly lit room. Small amount of light bleed in the corner but it seems to have improved after removing the screen protector. Good TV for the price if you're primarily gaming in a dark room.
View Original CommentI'm hesitant to get another hisense, since my last one the memory went bad on it and I had to replace the entire motherboard since the memory is soldered on, then not long after that the backing LEDs started going out one by one.
View Original CommentYou got what you paid for unfortunately with this tv. Tv is pretty bad overall.
View Original CommentGood thing you went with the QD7N instead of the QD6N. Looks like a good bang for the buck TV. Definitely I would get the extended warranty.
View Original CommentI buy 75QD7N because 144HZ and sale on BF and cancel it. I'm not a gaming person. Mini LED is my choice. After ten days watching 75U6N and calibrating the picture the result is Extraordinary.
