Summary

The Hisense QD7QF is a 2025 Mini-LED QLED TV that has generated mostly positive buzz among budget-conscious buyers, particularly those who prioritize gaming features over reference-grade picture quality. Users frequently highlight the value proposition — 4K 144Hz with Mini-LED and HDMI 2.1 at sub-$600 pricing — as hard to beat in the segment. That said, opinions are split depending on screen size and use case: larger models (75" and up) tend to get stronger praise for brightness and gaming performance, while smaller sizes face more criticism over refresh rate limitations and processing. The Fire TV OS on the QF suffix models draws mixed reactions, with some finding it adequate and others preferring to pair the TV with a separate streaming device. Reddit's more critical corners flag Hisense's general QA/QC reputation and motion handling as ongoing concerns that apply to this model too.

Pros

  • 75" and 85" models feature native 4K 144Hz panels with HDMI 2.1 support and VRR, making them a strong budget pick for PS5 and PC gaming
  • Mini-LED full array local dimming in the 2025 version is a meaningful upgrade over the 2024 QD7N, which lacked local dimming entirely
  • Brightness and color performance impressed most owners in typical living room lighting, with several users reporting they had to dial the backlight down from factory settings
  • 85" size at around $800 delivered offers exceptional screen-per-dollar value that few competitors match in the same tier
  • Fire TV OS on newer units runs responsively according to most 2025 owners, with fast app loading and Alexa integration baked in
  • Game mode color calibration is described as acceptable out of the box — a step above the washed-out look common in gaming presets on budget TVs

Cons

  • 50" and 55" models are capped at 60Hz with no HDMI 2.1, which significantly limits their appeal for gamers compared to the 75"+ variants
  • Local dimming zone count is notably lower than the Hisense U6N — users comparing the two side-by-side noticed more visible blooming and weaker HDR punch on the QD7QF
  • The Hisense U6N and U6QF are widely considered better overall picture quality options at similar or slightly higher price points, making the QD7QF's value case primarily about size and gaming specs
  • Motion handling and upscaling draw recurring criticism from more experienced viewers — fast-moving content like sports can look blurry or doubled without manual setting adjustments
  • Hisense's QA/QC reputation follows this model: isolated reports of hardware failures, HDMI compatibility issues with high-end GPUs, and a YouTube-gray bug affecting some units
  • Fire TV OS still frustrates users accustomed to Google TV — navigation flow is less intuitive and background app management requires manual intervention on older Fire TV builds

Size Matters More Than You Think

The QD7QF isn't one TV — it's two different experiences depending on screen size. The 75" and 85" models ship with 144Hz panels and HDMI 2.1 and have earned consistent praise from gamers. The smaller 50" and 55" variants are capped at 60Hz with no 2.1 bandwidth, a spec gap that most buyers miss until after purchase.

Great Deal or Better Alternatives? Reddit Is Divided

Owners in r/Hisense tend to love the QD7QF for what it costs. Critics in r/4kTV and r/HTBuyingGuides point to the TCL QM7 and Hisense's own U6 line as objectively stronger performers at similar price points. The debate mostly comes down to whether gaming specs or overall picture quality is the priority.

The 2025 Model Is Not the 2024 Model

A recurring source of confusion on Reddit is buyers accidentally purchasing the 2024 QD7N — a non-Mini-LED TV with no local dimming — thinking they're getting the 2025 QD7QF. The difference in contrast and black levels is substantial, and multiple users warned others to verify the model year before buying, especially from third-party sellers.

The 2024 has no local dimming. Deceptive image and description displayed at Walmart.com. That feature makes a significant difference.

Picked up the 50 inch, and the picture is great on it. Spent a few days obsessing about it, and it was the best looking TV in the 50/55 inch class under $600. Vivid colors and brightness, so much so that I turned the backlight down from the factory 100 setting to 60.

The 2025 version of the QD7 IS Mini LED. IMO the QD7 vs U7 debate really comes down to whether the preference is for Fire or Google TV. Specs beyond that are so close the average user won't be able to tell the difference.

The Hisense U6N provides better overall picture quality than the Hisense QD7N QLED. The U6N has excellent local dimming to improve black levels and gets brighter in HDR. On the other hand, the QD7 is the better option for gamers since it has HDMI 2.1 bandwidth, 4K @ 144Hz, and better VRR functionality.

Not having local dimming is what scares me about the black levels.

Look at the specs for Refresh Rate. 60hz. It can accept higher frame rate inputs but it's largely marketing BS since the panel is still 60hz.

Have had my 75" for about 6 weeks and really love it. Don't think you can find a better TV for the money right now. Only issue has been a couple instances of glitchiness with the FireTV, but they could be cleared by re-doing the search or re-starting the show.

I got the 85" for $798 delivered, unboxed and they even installed the feet and placed it up on my entertainment center. Unreal deal. Simply an outstanding TV.

The software is holding up well. I mainly use it with my PS5 and watch YouTube, Netflix, etc. through there, but the software itself runs just fine without any issues whenever I do use it.

I have the 75 inch and honestly was blown away with it, especially the price. You will want to connect to a soundbar — it has Dolby Atmos but the speakers are meh. Otherwise it does contend with a lot of the high-end TVs on the market. Playing PS5 on it is fire.

It's QLED not mini-LED like the U-line so max nits will not be as bright. Still a bang for the buck.

Just picked a 50 incher up at BBY and wow, is the picture quality nice. $330. I didn't realize how bad my blacks were and the halo effect and the overall poor picture quality of my 2-YO Vizio that went kaput.

I'm actually leaning toward the TCL QM7. I can get one for $560 for an open box. I was just curious about the QD7QF because I have been researching TVs for a month or so and have never seen this 2025 model.

I have this exact TV, have had it for about 3 weeks. I love it. The HDR really pops.

HEY GUYS I BOUGHT IT — it's pretty good 85 inch QD7. Also mine had 120hz (noticed inches below 85 didn't get the hz for this model).

I actually kind of love it. First off, biggest worry I had was that maybe the TV was gonna be nice but the system software wouldn't be able to keep up — but the Amazon UI worked out great actually. I don't even use my PS5 for media. The computer in the TV runs stuff super fast, at least for the 85 inch version.

Just bought the 55QD7QF on sale. Gorgeous screen. Cannot believe the review that said viewing from off-center is a problem — sure not for me. Only thing I don't like is the remote. Too small, hard to hold.

The Fire system is not nearly as intuitive as its Google competitor. Switching between YouTube and off-the-air is so easy with the Google remote, so much harder with the Fire.

I have the 75" and it's been great. Color looks good in the dark and moderate lighting. It's got a lot of features and I can't complain for the price I got it at.

Just bought an 85 inch. TV seems too good to be true especially at the price. 144hz native 4K, 192 dimming zones mini-LED. Game mode actually has decent color calibration — not professional calibration levels, just saying it looks acceptable for a preset mode when most TV gaming modes look like complete garbage.

For $599 for the 75, it's a decent deal. Gets plenty bright enough — my living room doesn't get that bright. Been gaming on it at 144hz. Fun!

I was watching Tokyo Vice on HBO Max and it was plenty bright during the day and night. Blown away by the quality for the price on the 75. Plus my PC running 144hz at 4K is nice too.

I picked up the 55 inch version for a second bedroom and it's sharp as a tack. For under $500 it's an incredible deal.

I got this one in 50 inches for $278 open box on sale. Unfortunately the smaller sizes aren't 4K 144hz but most games I like the PS5 can't even do 4K 144hz anyway. It's pretty nice — my biggest issue is that the processing system is unfortunately slow. Also I don't like the Fire TV system, so I'll probably get an Apple TV eventually.

We have been using the Xbox for streaming because the fire software is abysmal. I downloaded a background activity closer app and the TV works well for a day or two but it starts getting sluggish by end of day 2 due to background apps not closing.

I'm hesitant to get another Hisense since my last one the memory went bad on it and I had to replace the entire motherboard — the memory is soldered on. Then not long after that the backlight LEDs started going out one by one.

The U6 is better and to me I would make the trade. I looked at both at Best Buy and the U6 looked more vibrant to me and the colors popped more.

I only had the QD7 for a day and didn't even watch anything on it before I returned it for the U6 since it was better and the same exact price.

Poor upscaling, processing, motion handling — aka bad picture quality. Questionable QA/QC.

Performs well in a dimly or dark room, but the brightness isn't enough for an apartment with bright or large windows. The refresh rate is nice and the picture quality is good in a dimly lit room.

I personally have both the 75 inch QD7 and the TCL 65 inch 751G. Picture quality is way better on the TCL. The Hisense has mediocre picture quality, especially the uneven gray/blacks and bad backlit.

Just got a 65 inch QD7. It's a bad TV. Blacks are brown, whites are yellowish, and watching sports on this is awful. Fast moving objects become all blurry or even double and triple. You better get a TCL in the same price range.

I bought the 65QD7N for gaming and it's been a nightmare. It can't produce 120hz, 144hz, or the so-called 240hz without causing games to crash. Hisense has no customer service and I could not even register it because it keeps saying the serial number is wrong.

Just picked one up in a 50" for my patio. I have a TCL QM8 in the living room which I absolutely love but don't want 55" and up for under the pergola. I'm hoping the brightness of the new 2025 QM7 is good enough.

The better TV is the U6QF. I see the U7 100" TV damn near daily and have compared that TV to everything — that behemoth is incredible. So if the U6 is a step down from there at that size with those features, it's a landslide.

We have a 75" QD6 and a 75" QD7. They're both fine TVs. OLED is constantly improving, but spending $1500 for a 65" that will be outdated in 3 years isn't a good investment. Buy a less expensive TV and make it work until the next generation of tech.

Picking up the 75" to replace a broken U6G 55" that got smashed during a move. For $600 after taxes, it's a steal seeing as 3 years ago I bought the 55" for the same price.

Cancel the order or bring it back. Without local dimming zones the contrast is crap. You have to have local dimming.
