Summary

The Panasonic Z95B OLED has earned genuine praise from owners who consistently highlight its out-of-the-box picture accuracy and powerful integrated sound system as standout differentiators. Reddit sentiment skews strongly positive, with many users picking it over the LG G5 specifically because its superior image processing eliminates the dithering artifacts and HDR tracking inconsistencies that plague that model. It appeals most to cinephiles and detail-oriented users who want a reference-grade display without spending hours calibrating. That said, Panasonic's withdrawal from Europe and limited US distribution are real concerns for buyers thinking about long-term support and resale value. A small number of owners have reported gray banding, audio switching bugs, and one early hardware failure, so it's not entirely without risk.

Pros

  • Exceptional out-of-the-box calibration — users measuring with colorimeters report Delta-E under 2 across greyscale and colors without any manual adjustments
  • Superior image processing versus the LG G5: properly tracks EOTF metadata and avoids the posterization, near-black crush, and dithering artifacts that affect G5 owners
  • Built-in 170W sound system with deep bass and surround performance that many users say eliminates the need for a separate soundbar entirely
  • Supports all major HDR formats simultaneously — HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and HLG — making it the only flagship OLED with full HDR format compatibility
  • Active cooling system with an internal fan allows the panel to sustain peak brightness longer than passive OLED competitors
  • 144Hz VRR gaming support with a swivel stand and snappy Fire OS interface that owners describe as the fastest TV OS they've used

Cons

  • Panasonic is exiting the European market entirely by March 2026 and has halted Z95B production — buyers in Europe face limited stock, no future firmware guarantees, and uncertain parts availability
  • Significantly more expensive than the LG G5 in some markets — in Germany users cited a €3,100 G5 77" vs €5,000 Z95B 77", a gap hard to justify on picture quality alone
  • Only 2 HDMI 2.1 ports versus the LG G5's 4, which matters for multi-console or PC+console setups running 4K/120Hz simultaneously
  • Gray uniformity banding reported by some users, visible in dark game environments like Resident Evil 9 — not universal but replacement panels carry the same risk
  • Fire OS smart platform draws criticism for its Amazon-first interface, lower-end CPU/GPU compared to rivals, and lack of features like a black screen mode during audio playback
  • Availability in North America is inconsistent — the 77" size has been out of stock at major US retailers for extended periods with no confirmed restock timeline

Is Fire OS a dealbreaker on a $3,000 TV?

Most Z95B owners admit they were skeptical of Amazon's Fire OS on a flagship OLED, but report it's surprisingly snappy in practice. The real sticking points are its Amazon-centric home screen ads and weaker underlying hardware compared to Google TV or webOS rivals.

The best OLED nobody can buy

Reviewers routinely crown the Z95B as the most accurate OLED of the year, yet Panasonic's decision to exit Europe and its spotty US distribution have left buyers either scrambling for remaining stock or walking away entirely. Winning the TV shootout doesn't matter if the shelf is empty.

G5 owners keep switching to this thing

Multiple Reddit users who returned or sold their LG G5 specifically migrated to the Z95B, citing the G5's processing issues with VRR posterization and near-black crush. At least one owner confirms having both simultaneously and preferring the Panasonic for accuracy-critical viewing.

Yes they use the same panel, but all of the G5's issues are due to poor processing. The Z95B, on the other hand, has excellent processing, hence why it doesn't suffer from the issues that the G5 does. Of course it's always possible that LG could fix some of the issues in a future firmware update, but you should never buy a TV based on the possibility that things might get fixed in the future. So, the TL;DR is: Z95B hands down.

I would go with the Panasonic. It's the most accurate OOTB TV this year and probably should have won the tv shootout.

HDTVTEST had a very positive review of Z95B, he called it his favorite OLED. Bravia 8II won the King of TV award in 2025 against all the top OLEDs.

I am bravia man, Sony's picture accuracy is phenomenal. Panasonic is close this year, but I would go with the sony if i were you.

I picked up the z95b as it's the closest you're getting to Sony processing quality outside of Sony. I would have grabbed the Bravia but it isn't available in 77". The bright colours from the QD-OLED looks fantastic but it's one of those things that you only pick up on with a direct side by side comparison. Z95b is an insane TV and the built in sound system is very good.

Actually, I'll still go with the G5 because of ergonomics, to take advantage of the flush wall mount. The Panasonic is a beast and does have better sound, but that shows in it's size, making for a more bulky part on the wall, which won't work with my current aesthetics and spacing requirements.

Sports will look better on the Sony. They have the best color science and the best motion handling.

I would either choose for the B8 Ii or the Z95B. Especially if the primary focus is watching movies/series/tv and gaming 2nd (or not even at all). If you want the better colors -> Sony. If you require a bit more brightness -> Z95B. Either is bright enough for most people in anything but a well lit room.

I have both this and the G5, I personally prefer the Z95B. I would honestly just say flip a coin, if you prefer more accurate colors and proper brightness tracking get the Z95B. G5 is right up there though, they are both great TV's and neither does anything drastically better or worse than the other and your not going to notice a 20hz difference. Seriously don't feel like your making a wrong choice here.

Panasonic seems to be the better tv according to most reviewers. Has everything the LG has but makes it better. Only lacks the 4 full HDMI 2.1 ports. But if you don't need that and you're in the position of buying either, then I would definitely opt for the Z95B.

Z95B, my friend. Swivel stand, as bright as the G5 + with the cooling system, it can maintain its maximum brightness constantly; the others lower their brightness in crescendo, immersive 170W sound system. The only OLED that supports all video formats. It's superbly well calibrated out of the box (Delta, Gamma, EOTF, White Point, etc.).

Found the remote to be better built than my Sony XH900. I disabled all the tracking stuff, and the adverts on the home screen are no worse than Android TV, but honestly you can default boot it to last HDMI so if you have an Apple TV you'll never see it.

Technically the peak brightness of both sets is nearly identical, but the Panasonic will be less bright in certain movies and shows when in its most accurate picture presets (Filmmaker Mode, True Cinema, Professional) because it strictly adheres to the MaxCLL (the nits at which the content was mastered), whereas the G5 will ignore that and push higher. So the TL;DR is: the Z95B will be dimmer in many cases, but it will be MUCH more accurate as a result.

I own both and personally like the Z95B more for its more accurate representation but the G5 is dam near just as wonderful. All the issues about it are severely overblown and I haven't had any issues at all on mine or noticed this nicky stuff people are crying about.

Well I'm kind of a purist, I have expensive equipment and Calman software so I usually calibrate these TV's to the directors intent. The only disadvantage with the Z95B is that it's slightly less bright so it can do a better job at hitting the proper brightness levels requested of it and maybe the 144hz but I doubt anyone could ever tell the difference. The Z95B is phenomenal at near black detail. The G5 isn't terrible but it slightly crushes them.

I'm typing this on my Z95B right now. Excellent TV. I upgraded from a LG G3 which is already a great TV and even my girlfriend (who normally couldn't care less) commented on how much nicer it looks. The G5 has all sorts of problems and worse processing than the Panasonic. On mine black levels are perfect out of the box and I checked everything with a colorimeter, colors and greyscale are all pretty much perfect, delta-E less than 2.

I also bought the Z95B and I'm loving the picture quality. Everyone who visits sings it's praises. Especially the screen saver setting. And it's awesome for gaming!

Z95B looks to be better this year but also much more costly. The 55 inch Panasonic almost costs the same as the 77 inch G5 here. Also, I think the design of the Panasonic is absolutely atrocious with that huge sound bar and the cloth wrapped around.

For what its worth my 55" z95b broke in 3 weeks with a power issue. Will not turn on and just blinks a red light. So far its been impossible to find parts. Their supplier for parts (encompass) wont get back to me.

I had a Z95A and was one of those who wrote about having sound issues, like no sound when switching from external to internal speakers. This problem only occurred and still occurs on my Z95B, but only occasionally. Panasonic is going to support the sold TVs with updates just like before, even if they retreat from a market.

I've got a z95a which I've had for about 7 months and a w95b which I gifted my parents for Christmas. Both are amazing TVs with fantastic build quality and picture. I have my z95 hooked up to my q990d soundbar and I've never had any issues. I often just use the tv speakers because they are so good.

At the end I went for the Z95B even if I was no fan of its design. Ultimately I am soooo damn happy with my choice and in reality it is less bulky than one should expect.

I'm going to get it in October I'm treating myself for my birthday I'm really excited it looks like a fabulous tv. I haven't seen it in person but I've seen the g5 it looks very good especially in brightness and the 3D effect but I can't ignore all of the ongoing issues with that tv so I'm going to get the Z95B.

I have the Z95b 65" and all I can say it's incredible. I don't watch sports in it and generally just use it connected to my ub820 blu ray player and movies looks amazing. Colours pop and shadow detail is next level. The built in soundbar sets it apart from competition but if you already have a soundbar then you may want something more slender.

I'd pick the Z95B above all the rest because of the magnificent natural image out of the box and its 3 cinema picture settings.

I have the Z95B, wonderful fantastic TV. It displaced my 2013 Panasonic Plasma as the living room TV. I just know that I love the picture quality, the HDR, and the color accuracy. My living room is quite illuminated with windows without curtains and I haven't really been bothered by ambient light at all.

I have the Panasonic 77" Z95B and its awesome, the only disappointing thing about it its that it does NOT have the option of 'black screen' while listening to music. Can not believe it doesn't have this option. The sound is amazing though, I connected a sub also and you definitely do NOT need an soundbar.

Considering I'm noticing it in real content, I don't think I'd wanna live with it. I just noticed gray banding naturally when playing Resident Evil 9. It can be pretty noticeable in quite a few areas in that game, and after noticing it there I'm noticing it in other games and tv shows now.

New owner of a Z95b here. Very nice TV - colour accuracy is actually stunning. You can always tell a great TV when you don't mind watching adverts as well as TV programs.

I sure hope they drop firestick. I think this will keep people from buying them. On top of that its a garbage firestick not even comparable to the new 4k stick, and very low cpu-gpu even in the Z95B compared to the other big 3. I sure hope Panny can focus better since they're dropping out of Europe.

Get in quick if you want to buy a Z95B in NZ. I was told yesterday by the Harvey Norman sales guy that Panasonic is stopping selling TV here. Just glad I got mine at a great price.

Yeah, black levels were perfect on mine right out of the box, no crush, no overbrightening. I checked a set of colors and greyscale as well, all under DE of 2 right out of the box. Excellent.

I would look into getting a panasonic z8ba. It's a slight step down from the z95b. It doesn't get as bright, and sounds slightly less detailed than the z95b, but that's about it. It still has HDR 10+ Dolby Vision, HLG, 144 hz and is available in 77inches. I doubt the z95b will restock on 77inch.

After watching many hours of reviews I finally decided on the Z95B too, which I'll be buying next week! The only thing putting me off was the Fire OS, but I'm glad to hear it doesn't feel laggy. What's interesting is I'm in NZ, and this TV is supposed to be more expensive than all the other flagships, but here it's the same, if not cheaper than the LG G5/Samsung S95F!

I have the Z95A and its very buggy, after some days the menus and volume starts to lag when I'm on the Tuner / cable TV watching TV. After I pulled the power fully and the tv restarted it worked again, but its annoying.
